I had my head shaved after getting hit by drunk driver that broke my neck. I had hair falling out from the trauma before they even shaved it for surgery. I cried so hard. I know exactly how you feel. My hair has never grown back right. Thank you so much for sharing your heart with us. You help me so much. You are 9 kinds of precious. ❤️😁

Thank you for sharing your story! I am 35 and have struggled for years with hair loss. The emotional effort it takes to do my hair in the morning with extensions etc is overwhelming. I just recently ordered my first wig and I don’t plan on looking back. I’ve watched countless videos of yours and you’ve given me so much encouragement to just jump in! I can’t thank you enough. Truly, it’s been the push I needed.

Stage 3C cancer took my hair, depleted finances, and has probably shortened my life span. But I decided to have as much fun as I can for as long as I can. Your wig videos helped free me. After 9 months at home in the usual series of surgery, chemo, radiation I wanted outside. Your really excellent videos helped me make a good first choice at Wig Studio.
My wig encouraged me to sally forth, at first self-consciously. Now, I'm just out for joy. At least when I go out, I know one thing looks great: the wig. Women regularly stop me at the grocery, the hospital, work, events to comment on my great hair or great color--red--because why not? Many thanks.

Dearest Taz... I am quite new to hair loss (3 months) and it's been devastating but I have learned sooo much about wigs from your videos! I'm in my early 70s and now a retired homebody! I have two wigs I purchased before I truly needed them to give me perfect hair days now and then because arthritis prevents me from styling my hair like I did. Your guidance on wigs has helped me tremendously and I am so very thankful to you! I have so much to learn yet but I am getting more confident. One lady thought I was in my early 60s... 😊! Soft side swept bangs do wonders for a more youthful appearance. My two wigs resemble my bio hair color (brown with natural honey tones) and style. I have never colored my bio color and never had a gray hair yet, so this sudden loss is a shock. It all came after a hip replacement surgery and loss of weight from 125 to 103 from all my previous pain over a year's time frame. I am always hopeful my hair will return... and it may never be the same as it was but hope it will be at least as long as your bio length so I won't need to wear a wig cap. I am resigned to wearing a wig forever more so I'm always watching you for new ideas. Thank you for being there for us all.

I suffer from female heredity loss, my Mother had the same thing. Ever since I was a teenager, I couldn't go to the beach without a cap because my scalp would get so sunburned. And it just continued to get worse, I started out with clip in bangs, integration wigs. But then, I didn't have enough hair to support any clip in pieces, and not enough hair to pull through the integration wigs. I have not found "the one". I so wish I could, then my search would be over and I would finally be peaceful about it and not spend money on ones that didn't work. But then, we wig wearers, we know when we find one we will order again, maybe the next one will be a little "off". Maybe the color isn't exact, maybe it doesn't lay the same, it can be frustrating. OR they will discontinue the style. I am always on "the chase" for that peace of mind, that I don't have to search anymore for the "right one". Without a wig, I am mostly scalp with just a few baby hairs. I will be 70 next week and without a wig, I look 88. I am so thankful that wigs have come a long way since I was young, because I won't take the garbage out without one. While at home, I wear something over my head because I am so used to that feeling, especially in the colder weather. Great video Taz, we have a lot of stories in common. Here's love to all our "wig sisters".!!

PJ Mundy Wow PJ! I am so moved by the truth in your words. It's so familiar. I feel your pain in the loss of your bio hair. I feel the hope and expectation in your wig journey. I feel your frustration with the inconsistency among wigs. I agree with the fact that wigs have became a part of you. I have said many times " what the good Lord didn't give me, I'm blessed to be able to buy for myself!" We have no choice but to have a positive attitude. You've been a great support and encourager for me. Thank you so much❤️️❤️️❤️️. Much loveTAZ

Taz, I hear you loud and clear. I've been experiencing hair loss for the last ten years. It's totally worsened this past year. All my siblings have full heads of hair and they're in their 70's and 80's. I'm the only one and have seen a change in my personality feeling embarrassed and isolated from social situations. So, Taz, I get it. I took the plunge and received my first wig yesterday. I cannot believe how happy it made me feel. My husband said it made me look 20 years younger. Having his approval is awesome, but I still fear the comments of others. My hair is dark and shoulder length, and my wig is dark rooted, but short and blond with highlights. Big change, but I love it. I fully understand your fear. Let's hope I can get past it as you have!

Hi Taz! I just recently found your RUclips videos and I want to thank you for all you share and for your touching revelation in this particular video. I cannot imagine going through such devastating hair loss at such a young age. I am nearly 66 and just recently recognized that my hair, which has always been fine, is actually disappearing, and I can barely stand it! Because of videos like yours, and Patti's from Patti's Pearls I realize I don't have to deal with this alone, nor do I have to hide my head under hats all the time. My dearest friend trying to console me, told me my hair loss is not so bad, and that it's about the beauty within. But I told her I am not comfortable with looking like my husband. I know it will be a big change, and it will take getting accustomed to seeing me with a head full of the beautiful hair I have always longed for, but thanks to you and the others brave enough to share I am excitedly waiting for my first wigs to arrive. My journey is about to begin, and you have offered here great advice, information, and encouragement for me to live with comfort and beautiful hair for my remaining years. Thank you!

  • @kimberlythomas-tague7122
    @kimberlythomas-tague7122 7 лет назад +37

Thanks for sharing! I have dabbled in wigs for years but didn't have the courage to wear them out until after I left my career and got married. I started to thin and grey around 20 and while some may say, "your hair is fine!" or "you have enough hair", they've not lived my life and experienced all the things that have made me feel the way I do about my appearance. I do have hair, not loads and its not great. What makes me anxious is that people cannot understand that while I may have what they feel is an acceptable amount of hair I choose to wear wigs. In a wig, I am not bound to a part that covers my bare spot or worry about my roots or how no amount of teasing and hairspray will ever give me volume. Hairloss is not the only valid reason to wear a wig and I am glad you talk about your personal experience and encourage others. I don't see people with coloured contacts or fake breast apologising for not having been born that way. Thank you for being authentically you and encouraging. No one has to say "I'm sorry" for having some pure joy in self expression.

This was so beautiful Taz ! You have a wealth of information. I can relate to everything that you shared with us. I lost my self esteem during stage 3 cancer of the head and neck. That type of cancer damages your teeth and leaves you disfigured. I also lost my hair during radiation therapy. The path to emotional healing was very difficult. Now I work with women's self esteem and body image as well. You are a blessing, keep up the great work !

Well....ran across your videos tonight. I lost my hair to chemo 10 years ago at 39 due to breast cancer. The chemo caused permanent hair loss. As if losing my breasts were not enough at such a young age. I had awesome natural curly hair that always got compliments. So...I’ve bought a couple wigs but could never find a good curly one. I wear my wig to church and other places that a ball cap is not appropriate. I wear a cap 90% of the time. 🙄 I feel ALL of what you’ve said. I GET IT!! I’m resolved to the fact that my hair will never return. I want so bad some of the wigs you have shown but the pics never look as good as they do on you. 😊 My current wig is at the end of its life and I desperately need a new one. I desperately hate the fact that my hair is gone but it is what it is and I survived so here we are. I’m thinking about the Gabor SweetTalk Lux but afraid it’ll be too big. I’m a petite gal and dont won’t a football helmet on my head. 🤪 Thank you for you honesty and all your info.

Women spend millions on clothes, jewelry, makeup and esthetic procedures to cover up a variety of flaws and to enhance their beauty.. why would wigs be any different? I'm passionate about it, can you tell?..lol. I want to challenge the standard way of thinking! Thanks again for watching and commenting! I hope you find joy in wearing wigs💕💕💕TAZ

I was 42 when I was diagnosed with breast cancer and lost all of my hair. I don't think it bothered me then as much as now. It's been over 20 years now and the radiation treatments did damage my thyroid, and then there was Covid. Right now I'm purchasing Paula Young wigs to be able to try different styles at affordable prices. I'm learning about things like permatease, mono styles. It's like going through a corn maze this new learning experience. I told my husband that I refuse to put make up on to got out and look at a balding head in the mirror. I don't think I have aged badly, but the lack of hair put another 10 years on my face. Wigs make me feel like a lady again. Thank you for your honesty and testimony. I am shocked at the amount of women who have hair loss. It's way more than I imagined.

I just love you girl !
You have given me courage to step out.
I will say I was wearing( If you Dare )for the 1 st time with all my children and friends in a crowded restaurant, and my wig just popped off my head during dinner. ( I’m 62) and am a caregiver and my Dad died last year .. I started loosing my hair from stress😱😞. So because of you and other brave women I stepped out.
But it made me see the caliber of the two young women that will soon be my daughter-in-law‘s. They treated me with gentleness compassion, they helped me put my wig back on and hugged me a lot while I cried.
But now it’s funny and I know what wonderful women they are. So I guess it was God‘s sense of humor to show me who my daughter-in-law‘s will be . ha ha.
Anyway Taz I love ❤️ you, I’ll keep watching,
you you just keep doing what you’re doing. Your helping so many of us out here.

You are such an inspiration. I started losing my hair about 6 years back, I'm 55. I was told that it was because of nutrition, because I had dieted to the extreme, and if I started eating right it would come back. But in the meantime it kept getting worse. I would break down and cry in the shower, it was horrible. I started using Rogain and it helped but,it would shed a lot and it would take my hair color out. So I tried wigs until it the rogain worked well enough so that I felt comfortable. But, they gave me horrible Migraines, I don't really know why, I tried several sizes and lengths but, it never helped. So I just kept using the Rogain. Then I got hurt at work. My neck and back. So dealing with that and my hair I stopped using the Rogain. For a few months my hair was alright. Well, it's been about 4 months and it is coming out again. I am stressed, I don't eat right due to the pain and medication. They say don't stress. HOW CAN I NOT? So I'm going to have to try wigs again. Thanks to your video. I just hope the Migraines don't start back. You are a Beautiful lady. I feel so bad because I know people just think it's vain. Maybe it is, but I feel bad enough being hurt and not able to work. Hi TAZ, I’m just now finding this video in Jan . 2019, but it has helped me so much !! I have my own story of hair loss , mine has never been figured out . I didn’t go bald , but my hair got so thin, I might as well have in certain spots . I try to act like I’m confident when out , but I’m always aware that I’m wearing a wig . I pray people don’t notice , but I’m sure some do cuz I can notice when someone else is wearing one , almost every time ! I wish I was like you and embrace it , but I’m still to the embarrassed point . I don’t want to be , but also like you , when I got called out by a family member, I was devastated and ever since then , just not that confident. I’m trying tho and you are so Beautiful and Amazing... I appreciate you more then you can know 😥 thank you so much ♥️♥️♥️♥️ oh and my sister hasn’t seen my hair either , only my daughter . Also , I used to have my wigs “ “installed” ... my stylist used to sew the wig into my braided thin hair and it would feel much more secure and I was once again confident . That gets costly after a while and also , your natural hair of course , gets even thinner over the years ... so I stopped the installs and now Just wear the wigs . Having done that , I think has caused me to be more self Conscience again , cuz it’s not secured to my head . Ugh ! I’m trying TAZ. I hope one day , I can feel and talk like you on this video . I really appreciate this ... I know I will watch it again , a few times cuz I just really need it to sink into my brain , you know. I won’t give up .

Hi Taz! One of your subscribers mentioned you, so I thought I'd stop by your channel... I'm so happy I did. I have not seen you with wigs on (that's my next stop), but you are a stunning woman! I so admire and respect what you are doing on YT. When I was going through chemo (I didn't lose my hair), I met many ladies that had lost their hair and were understandably beyond devastated. My heart just went out to them, and how I wished I could have helped them in some way; I know you are helping so many ladies out there that are experiencing the same as you and are thankful for the information you are bringing to them. Like you, I believe that we should all wear whatever makes us happy... I'm 59, no problem wearing bright shadows, and my hair is purple, so you know I'm a true believer in expressing ourselves in whatever way makes us smile... thank you so much for sharing your story. It's truly a pleasure to meet you! xo Marlene

Taz, you are such a lovely human being. The wigs make you look like a movie star, by the way. It is so helpful to have your videos, Heather's too. My situation is just gradually thinning hair as I get older and also, hair that reacts to humidity ruining anything I try to do with it. My interest in wigs is like yours, to eliminate these two obstacles and be a type of expression, no different from makeup, jewelry and clothing. Why not? I am so thankful there are such great wigs out there. I have been collecting them for about four years. I made a lot of mistakes, but I just donated those mistakes en masse. Now I know what I like and which brands work for me. I think it's fun and exciting. And it means we can look younger, longer. I have people in my life who are very judgmental, but I am going to wear wigs anyway. Those closest to me are supportive. You and I are lucky that way. Thank you again for being such a kind, creative, gentle person and for having such good taste and instincts.

Thank you so much for this video. I’m 52 and a breast cancer survivor. The medication I take may save my life but it’s ruining my hair. It was never thick, but it was pretty and wavy, and I have been discouraged as I’ve watched it grow thin and brittle, lose its wave, and increasingly fall out. I’ll be on this medication for years, so I’m accepting that my hair loss will continue. I’m generally a happy person who goes with what life brings, so I’ve decided to take the wig plunge: I’ve ordered a few wigs to try out, and I have to tell you, you are such an inspiration. I’m so grateful to you and others doing these videos. Wig goals: Taz!

Thank you for sharing your journey! 😇 About 15 years ago I was so frustrated with trying to find someone that could cut and style my hair correctly that I would say, "I just want to shave it all off and wear wigs." I'd say this, not realizing that there were people suffering from "real" hair problems. 😣 Anyway, one day a hairdresser gave me a man-cut. I was not happy, to put it mildly, but it did make me turn to wigs. That was 9 years ago. Now, 15 wigs later 🤠 I am having a blast with them. I have always been a person who loves variety, and wigs give me that, for sure. I've had many complete strangers compliment my hair. I am so thankful for all the wig channels; they've all taught me so much about wigs, but your channel is my #1 Go-to channel. 💝

I started to lose my hair after I had kids. I used clip in extensions to help make my hair look fuller. Then I got to a point where my hair was not thick enough to cover them. Now I am trying to experiment with wigs but I am incredibly self conscious. Even with my partner (who always talk about how he only loves long, thick natural hair) I feel like a failure for not being his idea of a good woman. Therefore I must not be anyone's idea of a good woman. I don't know if people who aren't going through this really understand the emotional pain that comes with hair loss and having to look into alternative options.

Really enjoyed this video.I began wearing wigs two years ago because I messed with my hair color so often that my hair was breaking off. I felt so self-conscious at first but now I wear wigs all the time and like you , I've learned so much watching videos of other wig wearers. Thank you for your input, as I like how creative you are with your wig choices and how you make it your own.

I just listened to this again and ended up thinking thank the lord for the internet. When my hairloss issues started I had no internet and my only source of information was books (usually out of date) in the reference library. It was so frustrating. RUclips provides a support network which is global and its so empowering. Thank you for all you do.

I am in my late 40''s and I still feel self conscious about people calling me out about wearing a wig...not sure I will get over it. I lost mine through a medical issue over 10 years ago. I do like the comments about my wigs and people jaws drop when I tell them it's a wig. I enjoy your videos and they help me feel better about wearing different styles and styling them. Being an "artist" I do think I can get away with more then some. Thank you.

Such a heartfelt video and thanks so much for sharing Taz! Shows your good heart and you are gorgeous with or without a wig! I agree with everything you said! Self expression is so important...I love art too. So glad that You Tube has you on it! If I didn't have wigs, I'd be an old lady...but with wigs, I still feel young! My thinning hair made me feel so old and boring...but wigs have given me youth and FUN! Oh I have two sons as well! :) Mine are 25 and 26..soon to be 27. :) Took them a while but they seem to have accepted the fact now. :) God bless you too girlfriend!!! xo

Betzie Thank you so much for your friendship and support Betzie🎀. We have so much in common! My boys are 23 and 18. My oldest is in the US air force now for going on 6 years. My youngest is graduating in the spring and will be off to college. I pray for them daily. We are so blessed to live in a time that wigs are trending and the quality and appearance is so good. Love always❤️️💕❤️️TAZ

Thank you for this most honest video! It was terrific of you to bare your insecurities (that we all have) because by doing so, it helps us- your viewing community. Your videos are very helpful to us who do wear wigs and it's fun to see the new styles and get honest opinions. Thank you again.

Dear Taz, I've been following your channel for a while now and just came across this older video today. Your honest and humble words literally brought tears to my eyes. Though I truly wish all of us just had a beautiful head of hair, it feels so good to know I'm not alone. Years ago, a friend of mine (and she has beautiful, long, thick hair) told me not to worry, it would be "just hair". But to us thin hair ladies, it's so much more! My hair loss started when I was a teenager, and over the years my hair just got thinner and thinner. My mum was the same, and ever since I remember she did wear wigs. And wow, she owned them! No one would have ever thought it wasn't her own hair. And it wasn't even the nice and natural wigs we know today, with a lace and a mono top and whatnot... It was simple, open-cap synthetic wigs that she just popped on her head, no wig cap, no wig grip, no glue, just some finger styling, and she looked fabulous. In my twenties, I bought a "hair system", which got sewn into your own hair. Every four weeks it got removed, my own hair got detangled (a painful procedure, as it had always become a bird's nest under the construction) and it was reapplied. It was expensive, uncomfortable, inconvenient, and didn't even look good. A couple of years later, I switched to extensions. Pretty much the same in terms of price and inconvenience, but it did look better. However, I had to use tons of hairspray to ensure my own thin strands covered the bondings. From that, I switched to clip-ins, but it got harder and harder to cover the clips, so for the last 1,5 years, I was wearing hats all the time. And always worried that the clips might slip and become visible. 2 months ago, I purchased my first wig: Show Stopper by Raquel Welch. Put it on and thought... NO! That's not me. Too much hair! Plus, the lace was super visible, as I have a bit of a weird head shape, and it didn't lay flat on my forehead. Put it back in the box - but didn't send it back. 2 weeks ago, I unboxed it again, put it on, and glued that lace down. Wore it at home. Made a bun, put a hat on, and wore it while walking my dog. Met a friend on the walk, and she noticed nothing. Had friends come over, wore a bun and my hat, no one noticed - and with the wig, there is a lot more hair in the bun! I'm sure at some point I will be asked, especially when I start to ditch the hat. But now I've reached a point where I think I'm able to embrace my wig-wearing journey, as I plan to experiment with different styles and colors and really make the best out of it. And since I'm used to wearing hats, wearing a wig is not even the slightest bit uncomfortable. So, long story short, thank you so much for sharing your story and sharing your knowledge about wigs, and for all the great reviews you put out to help us newbies find our way. Much love! ♥♥

Thank you Taz, I cried watching this video! I just turned 43 this January and I started loosing my hair after being very sick and becoming septic this passed October! My Doctor has prescribed thyroid pills and vitamins but I am still loosing handfuls of hair everytime I touch it! I have been devastated by my hair loss and I felt all alone, so thank you for your video! I want to get a wig because I am embarrassed to leave the house! I wish I could afford to do what you did, and order a bunch of wigs but I can't afford to! Also can I say that you look absolutely gorgeous in every single one of your wigs!!!! I am so grateful I found your RUclips videos!!

HI taz , After the birth of my 8 year old son this also happened to my hair . It was awful , you are right , being overjoyed with the birth of your healthy baby but being so insecure yourself to be around friends and family . My hair grew back around my sons second birthday but it was never the same again . I am now 42 and after watching many youtube videos , including yours , I have been given the courage and knowledge to venture into wig wearing . In my profile pic I am not wearing a wig . It is a couple years old . I should update it as these days I am rarely seen without my Upstage , Editors choice , or my new Straight up with a Twist all by R.W. Anyways , thank-you for your videos and this tuching testimony .You are indeed a beauty on the inside and out ! Much love to you and your family ...God Bless .

Deena marie Hi Deena! I never realized how many woman are going through this! Thank you for sharing your story with me. I had a 'right or die" when I first started wearing wigs in public etc. I just did it owned it. When I got comments I would say "I've had some hair loss issues and decided to go with wigs and I'm having so much fun!" Sometimes ripping the bandaid off quickly is the best policy. Lol. But we're all different. I mean, if you had an illness you wouldn't be embarrassed to take medication, right? I hope you continue trying wigs at your own pace and push through the uneasiness because I really believe it's worth it😘❤️💕. Sending love and hugs, TAZ
