  • Anthony Davis has had dominant performances in the playoffs and a few off nights, but the Lakers strategy against the Warriors is built around him. This detailed film breakdown & scouting report breaks down how Coach Marvin Ham has used Davis to guard Steph Curry, Klay Thompson, and the Splash Brothers offense...and how AD's offensive presence also dictates the matchups in this series.

    This series is as much a clash between hall of fame players as it is a chess match between Ham and Kerr and their staffs, as the beautiful first three games have shown.
    I find it amusing how different each of the three games has been, because of the extreme flexibility and quickness that both coaches have shown in adapting their playstyle to the other team, with intelligence - e.g. what Ham did with Davis as you said at 1:27. The results are very telling as well: after game 1 went to the Lakers, Kerr adapts and takes game 2 in a blowout, then in game 3 Ham adapts to Kerr's adaptations and wins by a blowout as well, with almost the same final scores, but reversed. Just beautiful team basketball. I love what Ham is doing personally, because after years of an offence oriented league lead by Curry's and Kerr's 3pt revolution and old heads saying that today's basketball is soft and noone plays defence anymore, he's finally changing things and showing that you CAN and you MUST also defend to win at basketball.
    This is not just LeBron and AD vs Curry and Klay, it's defence vs offence, it's Ham vs Kerr, and its all the role players and bench players of the Lakers vs GSW. Ham and Kerr are showing us that basketball is a TEAM sport, and that a great team and a great strategy are essential aspects of the game!

    Amazing video. One of the things thats wild is just how in Game 2 AD couldnt deal with that pocket passes but then in game 3 he disrupted them so much. It's like he needed to watch the film and see the angles once and then he'd be able to do it.

    Shows a huge difference with how the Lakers and AD performed defensively in comparison to other playoff teams with their own defensive bigs. They have the guys to switch to keep AD by the basket as well with the athletic bodies to keep up with rotations and not give up assignments. They are getting similar effects with how the Lakers played the 2020 playoffs where the things made it hard for perimeter shot creators to get in while Lebron helped and AD cleaned up. Of course offensively he's an even harder match up to adjust because he can easily find ways to cut to the basket. As well with his impact as a screener and as a highly efficient rim running finisher at the hoop.

    The warriors have no idea on what to do with AD, they aren’t use to being switched onto the best defender on the planet who runs the big, all those moving screens they get doesn’t work because AD nullifies it and I’m not even mentioning the fact they can’t guard him.

    • @spankstar
      @spankstar Год назад

      moving screenss is the biggest cope, can't hand le a team winning so you gotta fabricate these things to make yourself feel better. Every team gets away with moving screens, but other teams don't win as much as the warriors so it dioesn't get brought up.

    • @t4d0W
      @t4d0W Год назад

      I guess its how the basketball gods defined a dude who breaks a lot of rules on defense. He's gotta have a weird body type with odd biomechanics that leaves him injury prone for most of his career. If anything modern medicine has allowed him to play competitively for over a decade as oppose to hanging it up sooner due to said injuries.
