I bought a Meater block a few years ago and had nothing but headaches with it. Every time I got it out of the box it wanted to do an update. Finally sent it back and went with a wired brand and have been extremely happy with the purchase. If I want to cook, I want to cook, not wait around on something to down load an update.

So you never mention what claims you said were not true. Hmm, looks like you wrote a favorable review because they sent you new units. Are they going to do that for the rest of us who have had a block die?

Hello Tom. I’d use the MEATER+ for everything that I’ll cook in the oven (ribs, chicken, pork and beef), plus everything that goes on the grill! I’ll definitely use it for cooks w/ lamb… don’t want to over cook that protein!! But more so, I’ll be able to teach my kids the importance of using a measuring tool, to accurately track the temperature of their foods while it’s cooking! I currently use the ThermaPen (love it btw), but to be able to track the cooking progress w/o opening the oven door or grill lid, helps to keep as that heat where it suppose to be… on my food!! Thank you for the give away!!!

I bought the block with 4 probes, , I'm not having good luck with, it disconnects all the time, probe to block, I also had two probes side by side, the temp were 8 degrees difference , Not sure if i'm doing something wrong, if you have set temp , it flags you 5 degrees before and locks up,

I can't stand non-stick pans of any sort. I was given some pans, but I just couldn't get on with them. Whatever temperature, I like stainless steel easy to use, doesn't burn for me, so I'm happy easy to clean....❤ love your video's

Stumbled upon this video because I've had nothing but trouble with my Meater+ block. I've only used it 3-4 times, but I've lost connection on every cook. My block stays very close to the probes, but I generally do other things while cooking and my phone comes with me. Invariably, I lose connection and the probe does not reconnect. Hoping to figure out what's going on. Keep this in mind when considering the purchase.

Just bought 2 meater plus probes and had the disconnect issue with them. Even though I am a about 15 feet from my smoker. Still they did make smoking the pork butt a lot less hassle free especially with ambient temp monitoring. I was able to stay inside and just go out to add wood when the temp started dropping. 2 thumbs up 👍.

I would use the @meater plus with my pellet grill. The ability to not only get the food to the proper temperature but to have an accurate estimate as to how long that would take would be invaluable in making sure all items made it to the table at the same time. I've had difficulty doing that in the past.

I have two Meater+ units. I got the second one pretty cheap on marketplace (used once), hoping my connection issues would be solved with a newer unit. Nope, I still have connection issues and no matter what I do it never is completely trouble free. It’s probably the last Meater I will buy. By the way, the customer service is not that great either. It took them weeks and weeks with back and forth communication to replace my first one. Support was very challenging. Sorry, I speak the truth and it’s not been a great experience. I gave it plenty of tries because I love it when it does work. By the way, all firmware and software were always up to date.

As for the Meater+, it’d be a game changer as I recently just got a smoker and monitoring the cook without opening the lid would be huge! Definitely want to do a longer cook while monitoring remotely, such as a brisket.

Pretty kool tool, but like you said the block display seems pretty outdated for sure.
Hoepfully they will come out with a newer inproved model. Thats why I have not purchased one yet, I find this model to be outdated and hopefully they will come out with a new probe that doesnt require the use of a block when using just one probe and much better range without the need of the block?
I hear MeatStick 4X us govinf them some serious compition which much better range wheb using a single Probe ?
    Thanks for sharing.

I feel like I'm hearing a mixed bag of quality issues, but for many they're willing to put up with some of the slight issues because it seems when it works it works well. Say you were to get this and find problems you simply just did not find acceptable. How good is the return policy? They're certainly not cheap and there's other places that have a good reputation for good thermometers as well.

Just got the block for my dad for Christmas. Helping him set it up today, and keep in mind I've got a fully equipped smart home so I've dealt with tech and connectivity issues. This thing will not connect to anyone's phone. I have not seen any videos on this issue. I submitted an email request and my God is that form ridiculous. Not too impressed so far. The fact that I may have a lemon really discourages me from wanting to keep the item.
Also worth mentioning I do see the device on Bluetooth, but won't connect in app.

We bought my dad the Block for Christmas.
    Cons -
    1. Requires an account to use the app - because reasons.
    2. The block can't receive from the probes when they are in his Traeger and it is closed. - super useful!
    3. The block absolutely will not connect to the app. I have seen it attempt all of twice only to get a message from the app that it disonnected.
    Pros-
    1. None. We have never been able to use it.
Summary - $230 worth of hot garbage. Buy something else.

Excellent video. I agree with your comment about connection issues except that I have repeated connection issues. I use the Meater block with a 26 in Weber Kettle. No matter what I do, the block repeatedly goes to sleep and disconnects when I am away from the grill. I use the block in WIFi mode and am sure that the block and my phone are on the same network. The batteries are new, probes are fully charged and spotlessly clean. The block is placed less than 4ft from the grill. I have been through every FAQ on the Meater site to no avail. I cannot identify a place to call, chat or email Meater for help. I sent an email many days ago to Apptionlabs, the company that owns meater - radio silence. Any suggestions regarding how I can prevent these repeated disconnects (or how to get some support from Meater) would be very much appreciated.

I'm adding to other voices here... I don't understand how you can be happy with the MEATER Block and even recommend it. IT'S NOTHING BUT HEADACHES with all the disconnections right in the middle of cooks. Seems you're happy because they sent you a new one... I've complained to customer support, and they asked me to do multiple series of tests, and concluded I didn't have any functional problems. I've tried to like this thing, but every time I cook I'm reminded how difficult it is to use the thing.

Yes, you did by your endorsement of this product is false. Did they give it to you free. I bought one $369.00 with shipping and import taxes. And the Bluetooth doesn't connect I spent 6 hours on the phone, and the result was that the walls of mt smoker are too thick. I cook 60 pork shoulders per week 20 at a time. It's a toy not for professional smoker.
    Don't 😢 your money
