I said that several times back then. I didn't actually buy a smartphone until the iPhone 4 came out, but when they first came out, I'll admit I thought the whole idea was dumb.
@Mysterious-t2u just because it's normalised doesn't mean it was ever a good idea. It's never time to remove useful features from devices that previously had them for a decade.
@alexwr Despite many other issues with their phones, this is what's keeping me loyal to Sony at the moment. AFAIK, the only flagship phones with headphone jacks. And with their poor sales + corporate restructuring, who knows if they'll still be making phones in a couple of years.
@ If I hadn't smashed it to all hell, I'd still be using my Xperia Z2. Great device. I only wish they added removable batteries, then they would be a true 'pro' phone. I mean their customers are already the sort of people who don't mind a thicker, more feature-rich device, just give us the removable battery Sony, please!
I love my 12 mini. It sure can take a beating, I’ve dropped it countless times and nothing has broken on it and I have never used a case on it. Only downside is the battery.
@Ripley93 I’m never very far from a charger or if I know I’m going to be I take a batterybank with me se I can live with this. I charge 3-4 times a day.
Look, a phone's battery life being terrible is a huge deal. It's a dealbreaker for a lot of people. Not everyone has access to charging all day long and having to worry about battery all the time isn't fun. I guess you could carry around a battery bank, but that's not ideal either. I'd say the main reason the hate is deserved is precisely because it's otherwise a great phone, so it's frustrating to have this one flaw that makes it difficult to justify a purchase.
I’m using a 13 Mini and I have the same issue. I leave my phone off for 7 hours, disconnected from power, away from the sunlight and it gets down to 40%. Either way, it’s 33 months old and it’s worked well beyond its limits since it was unboxed. P.S bring back the mini lineup apple
Nah, it did suck how the battery just died. The day I got mine I used it for two seconds and poof. Low power mode. I literally went into settings to check my charge history because I was in disbelief how it died that fast.
I loved my 12 mini and used it every day, charging overnight and in the car on the way to work and i never went to 0%. battery health was tough towards the end though, and id be at 5% by 8pm with little use. I upgraded to a 13 mini last month, from the apple refurb store and you bet i got applecare on it right away. I plan on using it until either a similar size flagship is released again (praying 🙏) or they can no longer repair it/replace the battery.
Im glad the iPhone XR has started to be appreciated all these years later. Its such a good phone and the fact its still receiving the latest iOS is crazy
The company I work for just retired their fleet of XR - so respect to their long run. The current 17 has a direct lineage to the XR. In 2019, Apple engaged in market psychology and changed the name of their entry phone to the 11. That move alone sold millions more - where people thought they were getting the latest phone.
The XR was actually the first iPhone I ever bought for myself (after personal Androids, Lumias and work iPhones) and I liked it a lot. I knew about its shortcomings, but it worked fine and looked really nice in red as well. Glad it came out "least bad" here.
From the UK, the iPhone x wasn't price-adjusted. In the us it was $1000 dollars but in the UK it was £1000, which was like $1400 or something at the time. If you could find a cheap flight it could be cheaper to fly to the US, stay the weekend and buy your new iPhone there than to get it in the UK. Apple pricing is still awful in the UK, but that was when it got the most attention.
And if they didn’t make the 5C you would have bought a regular 5 for the exact same price and gotten a worse battery and front camera with no other difference.
Nobody seems to understand why the 5c exists. It was marketed towards kids. It was my first smart phone in 6th grade. It was marketed perfectly to be expensive enough to be a special occasion gift but cheap enough to be considered by parents. It was the greatest iPhone marketing campaign of all time and got millions of kids their first foray into Apple, most of whom continued with the brand. Absolute genius.
Lmao same here ! I remember getting the green one and later started glitching hella bad , t mobile ended up replacing it with a white one because they didn't have green ones
I bought a new iphone 12 mini a few years back not to use it as my phone, but simply because I loved the size so much that I wanted to just have one before they never made one again... so I guess it is a collectors iphone lol
Man you did my 12 mini dirty. 3 years of use, one battery replacement later this thing is still kicking. Battery life is literally the only achille's heel here. What a goated phone man. Still cannot find a replacement for this. Considering an S25 right now but never selling this one man. "Collector's iphone" is probably apt.
For real. My second phone is an SE2, but I desperately want a 12 Mini to replace it. Collectors phone is definitely apt - it seems to be holding its prices a fair bit higher than I thought it would by now.
Same I have a 12 mini and changed the battery once. It’s going to last me a long time and its size is perfect. Battery may be less than normal but it is fine
@xFreeland1 I don't like switching phones frequently. Just want to get something that is future proof and can run local AI models while being compact enough. 13 mini is already quite behind raw performance wise (Of course, I am taking the pixels out of this equation).
Bro, iPhone X getting this much hate is diabolical. My dad pre ordered iPhone X and still is using it. He doesn't wan tto buy a new one even when iPhone 17 is much better. He just fell in love with that phone.
Been pushing for my wife to get a 13 mini from her SE2 for years but she’s hesitant to move away from the old home button days lol. Told her she better hurry before new iOS updates stop coming to the 13 mini. Battery would destroy her current phone! I personally love the size of my regular 13 Pro but it upsets me smaller phones for people like her are essentially nonexistent at this point. Not everyone wants a brick in their pocket
Only downside on the 12 mini is the battery life. And for someone like myself who doesn't use their phone a ton, it's fine as it still lasts just about the whole day on its original battery at 76% health. Still runs like new, takes good enough photos and has all the features i need. There's literally no phone right now i'd change it for that offers the same convenience and ease of use.
Changed to the iPhone 13 mini because I destroyed it in the snow and lost Face ID, touch screen problems and autofocus on the main camera. Still use it for a year after though
That Apple quote is so ridiculous regarding the iPhone 6 Plus. I worked at a Verizon store during that time and I personally assisted more than 9 people with bent phones lol.
That’s crazy. My sister bought a 6 plus on release, gave it to our grandmother in 2018 which she used until this year because apps are no longer supported. She now has my old iPhone 12 Pro Max and gave my sisters 6 plus to her grandson, my sisters son. It still looks like new after 11 years of use.
I upgraded from my beloved iPhone 5 to the 6 Plus in late 2018, and good lord that phone was horrendous. Not even three weeks after getting it, the phone was already bent and the touch IC was disconecting, causing the touch layer to freak out. I paid apple $224 to fix the phone -- they gave me a refurbished replacement -- but not even two weeks later its screen also began experiencing ghost taps and general unresponsiveness. The 6 plus was a horrible phone, the worst I've ever owned. I gave up and bought a 6s in early 2019, best decision ever. The 6s was golden, second best phone I've owned behind the 5. I've since moved to android, but I will always love that 5 and 6s. In fact I still have them and they still work 💯
As the proud owner/user of a 13 mini, I couldn’t agree more that smaller phones fitting in normal pockets are absolutely golden! Mine has decent battery life, very strong construction & runs the latest iOS and apps. I have zero complaints, nor any desire to upgrade to a phablet-sized (remember that word) iPhone.
As a iPhone 12 mini user from DAY 1 of the phone, I can say that there is nothing wrong with it. No bugs, cameras decent, only problem is the small battery (not as big of an issue as Ellis has) and sometimes it is a bit slow. I stand with Ellis.
XR was my first smartphone. Recently replaced it with the 17 after it stopped receiving iOS updates, but it gave me a good 6 years. No complaints on it from my end.
I'm livid that you hate on the 12 mini so much!! Of course Ellis' battery is worthless now, this phone has been living hard for a long time. This phone rocked, so did the 13 mini! My partner and I have the 12 mini and the 13 mini and both are still running strong and we are so bummed that the SE didn't take the mini body!
I really, really liked my iPhone 12 mini. The perfect size with great specs. Just recently replaced it with a 16 Pro because the battery was unbearable to use. Would have to charge over 3 times per day even with my light usage. Also, the "websites don't fit on the screen" thing had become annoying to deal with. RIP to one of the greats.
The 7 should have replaced the X, but the iPhone 4 antennagate was more of a viral moment than anything that people really cared about! That was the first front and back glass phone and literally everyone had some type of case on it! Even if you didn’t, you had to really try to make the signal drop!
Except the 4 actually didn’t have connection issues for most people. And the 7 was actually perfectly fine once it was on the market. I have both the 7 and 7+ and they’re one of my favorite design pairs in phones
I agree but Apple removing the headphone jack has made earphones and headphones get so much better. Apple set the bar. Plus I've had thousands of dollars worth of free headphones from Samsung Apple and Sony.
The iPhone 8 Plus has a special place in my heart, not just because it's the first iPhone I've ever had, but also because it's the only iPhone I have, lol. I wouldn't dare to use it as my main phone though. It hasn't died on me once since I've started using it and I don't plan on it reaching 0% anytime soon.
I remember trying to get my dad to upgrade his 6s after having it for several years and stubbornly trying to keep it running, and the 13 mini was the perfect answer. Great option for people who were preferred the older form factor
I have an iPhone 12 mini and have been using it since summer 2022, so we are closing in on 3 years now, and I can say I genuinely don‘t have any of the problems Ellis has with his. The performance, in my obviously very subjective opinion, is still absolutely fine. No complaints there. The battery is obviously not the biggest a phone has ever seen, but it still gets me through the day, admittedly without heavy use and the battery is low when I finally get to sit on the couch, but still… workable for average use I‘d say. And the small size is obviously fantastic to this day in my eyes. I get it, it‘s an unpopular opinion, but I love my 12 mini. ❤
I went from the 4, 5s, and se 2016 (5s body) to 12 mini and the battery was so bad I vowed to get the largest phone after years of tiny phones and haven’t looked back. It lived on a charger, bro I just can’t.
I cannot understand why you would want a screen that small. I wouldn't be able to see it properly even with my glasses on. Give me a "phablet" any day.
@GeeEee75Fair enough. To each their own. I am not a heavy phone user, so I prefer just having a small one in my pocket. Bothers me less than a bigger one would and if I need a larger screen, I have my iPad.
My older brother bought the xr in red when it first came out then when he got the blue 12 he gave that to my mother and now my mother's been using a xr since November 2020 and it's almost 2026
The XR was the iPhone that stopped me constantly switching to Android. Lotta love for that phone. The battery was better than people say. I'd often go 2 days without charging. And it came in my favourite colour: yellow. This one has my heart.
As a Purple 12 mini owner, it is the best colour ever on an iphone. And I agree with everything that Ellis says especially charging it all day 🤣Almost 4 years, time to upgrade but no similar sized options which absolutely sucks. Never selling it!
I was there. I was a sales rep in a Cingular Wireless store when the first iPhone came out. I didn't see any of the hate. We had a line around the block of people waiting to get in to buy one. I made a whole month's worth of commission in about 3 days. It was a fun time to work for Cingular.
Your cell service was so expensive back in the day. I wanted it so bad but it cost a kidney liver and left testicle. Back when cricket was only local cell service 😂
Oh that phone to me was absolute magic!! I haven’t been that impressed by any tech since! What AI is doing is right there though, but that’s a bit different as AI isn’t a gadget. With that said, the phone did get a lot of hate for the price, keyboard, cut and paste, no wallpapers, etc. to be honest every iPhone had some level of hate mostly coming from Android fans! Remember the whole flash debate?😂😂😂
9:20 I still use my 13 mini and I plan to keep it as long as I can. It’s the perfect size for portability. Even still today it has enough battery for what I need for the day usually and everything still works. If I have to go to a bigger phone idk what I’ll do (or if I’ll even stick with Apple tbh…)
my 16e is perfect for me, it's really about how the person uses the phone and how much the person cares about having the newest Iphone. I don't use the 0.5 camera, I don't need the camera button, and I lived 18 years without the dynamic island, I can live another 4-5 years without it. I use it to call and text, look at reels, watch/listen to youtube, listen to spotify. It has a better battery than the 16 and the 13 which I upgraded from, it has the apple inteligence, it has usb-c, and I solved the magsafe issue with buying a magsafe case that cost me 8 bucks, I don't care about the slower wireless charging because when I need to charge my phone fast I use the cable. I get that for most people it doesn't make sense to gete it, but it does for me because I pay 750 usd less and still get the phone functions I wanted.
The iPhone 12 mini should not have been moved to the right because of current issues. All other phones where ranked based of the state when they got released and not how they function today, except the iPhone 12 mini. And that websites/apps aren't optimized for the screen size isn't the phones fault but the companies fault.
@RichOnTrack oh I was just making a joke, as rouge means red /refers to red facial makeup. "Gone rouge" would mean "turns red." Cool to know about the process tho.
The flashbacks…. I had an iPhone 6 just a regular small iPhone 6. Pre ordered on launch. That phone bent in my front pocket 9 days after I received it. I will never forget the look on every employee I had encountered at the Apple Store that day. Utter disbelief.
Did you catch all the Easter eggs for each phone?
na we just live our life.
Ah Editor's humor
The Cydia logo on the iMac brings back memory
Nice
Nope
The "this will never catch on" take is WILD
“The internet” is usually wrong 😂
I said that several times back then. I didn't actually buy a smartphone until the iPhone 4 came out, but when they first came out, I'll admit I thought the whole idea was dumb.
And now the majority of people watching this video are probably watching it on a mobile phone of some sort 😂
the iPhone 7 not being on there but the iPhone X being there is CRAZY i remember way more anger over the headphone jack being removed
I was ABOUT TO SAY IT
that and antenna gate over the iPhone 4.
Both are crazy for not appearing here
Yea I was waiting because the iPhone 7 was the most hated from what I recall. They changed the whole tech industry.
I loved the iPhone 7.
@davidbabalola4737especially the jet black color. Best iPhone color ever. Until you touched it
shows that people don't know what they want. and that Apple is right most of the time
The blue iPhone 5C is the best phone I’ve ever owned and you need to publish a formal apology.
The 7 should be on here for removing the headphone jack
Eh it was time and then look what happened all the other big brands followed suit
One of the best looking phones though, especially the jet black
@ If I hadn't smashed it to all hell, I'd still be using my Xperia Z2. Great device.
I only wish they added removable batteries, then they would be a true 'pro' phone. I mean their customers are already the sort of people who don't mind a thicker, more feature-rich device, just give us the removable battery Sony, please!
Ellis’ voice on the 5c hate is peak voice acting
What do you mean by "peak voice acting"?
Naah, the Iphone X was peak...Lmao
Peak?
Do NOT disrespect the great green 5c👺👺👹👹
I love my 12 mini. It sure can take a beating, I’ve dropped it countless times and nothing has broken on it and I have never used a case on it. Only downside is the battery.
I've been using the 12 mini for 4 years now and i love it. The battery sucks
It's only downside is what stopped me from buying one. For me the battery is the most important part of a phone.
@Ripley93 I’m never very far from a charger or if I know I’m going to be I take a batterybank with me se I can live with this. I charge 3-4 times a day.
Look, a phone's battery life being terrible is a huge deal. It's a dealbreaker for a lot of people.
12 mini didn’t deserve to even be on this list 😭 there was really nothing wrong with the mini series phones. y’all are so wrong
i think i agree, batterie life was and is horrible though
@pascalm.4799 we can say that about the SE phones yet the better 12M is in the list
its just so comfortable to use a mini, one handed useability and its so small it doesn't bulge the pocket or even bag
Nah, it did suck how the battery just died. The day I got mine I used it for two seconds and poof. Low power mode. I literally went into settings to check my charge history because I was in disbelief how it died that fast.

Im glad the iPhone XR has started to be appreciated all these years later. Its such a good phone and the fact its still receiving the latest iOS is crazy
My Dad still has it and it works perfectly! Haha. He just thinks it's big and bulky
iPhone XR low key one of Apple’s best ever phones. Everything about it is solid and relatively affordable. The Honda Accord of phones.
The company I work for just retired their fleet of XR - so respect to their long run. The current 17 has a direct lineage to the XR. The best looking iPhone
It's the XS that takes the cake. Loved that phone
iPhone 13 mini it’s probably one of the best phones in the market where everything is bigger.
absolutely, walmart had a sale on them last summer and they sold out in literally minutes
Big phones are better
Been pushing for my wife to get a 13 mini from her SE2 for years but she’s hesitant to move away from the old home button days lol. Told her she better hurry before new iOS updates stop coming to the 13 mini. Battery would destroy her current phone!

just jumped down from a 16 pro to a apple certified 13 mini. Battery hasnt been an issue and i adore this thing, its really great. No regrets at all
@NotScaredfor you.
Watching this on my XR right now as my 16 Pro is getting prepared for shipping lol. Got 6 great years with this thing and I’ll definitely miss it!!
I'd assume you traded it in?
Eric, twin of Rich. Rich, twin of Eric. Perfect.
The 12 mini didn’t deserve to be on that list. I don’t even experience the issues Ellis mentioned.
Only downside on the 12 mini is the battery life. And for someone like myself who doesn't use their phone a ton, it's fine as it still lasts just about the whole day on its original battery at 76% health. Changed to the iPhone 13 mini because I destroyed it in the snow and lost Face ID, touch screen problems and autofocus on the main camera.
Still use it for a year after though
yeah if it breaks you can just get 13 mini, they shouldve done a mini instead of 16e imo
the old magsafe battery on the mini is the exact same as the new iphone air with the magsafe air battery
This only made me realize that there is a complaint every year about an iPhone and they still get bought 😭
6:14 Ellis's voice reminds me in Micheal's mission when he was drunk with jimmy in gta5
NO WAY the X and 12 mini deserved more hate than the 16e
That Apple quote is so ridiculous regarding the iPhone 6 Plus. I worked at a Verizon store during that time and I personally assisted more than 9 people with bent phones lol.
That’s crazy. My sister bought a 6 plus on release, gave it to our grandmother in 2018 which she used until this year because apps are no longer supported. She now has my old iPhone 12 Pro Max and gave my sisters 6 plus to her grandson, my sisters son. It still looks like new after 11 years of use.

Whole world cried after iPhone 7 release and hate it because they know what future will look like.
Should be on top 3 spot at least
Rocking my 3rd iPhone 13 mini and had the 12 mini before. Can’t give it up
Why three?

Lol i really wanna chat with this guy fr
I really wanna ask him... "Sooooo you wanna say something about that..."@ParsaHatami-q9w
Bet same guy dailies an iPhone too
I came here to ask: "no iphone 7?" and I'm glad to see many people beat me to it.
2:50 agree with Marques here...disagree with new guy
The way the 12 mini got slandered down the line in real time 👎🏻
10:49 “Ellis”. Now we can all call it the iPhone 16 ellis. Thanks Ellis.
The 5C hate is so unjustified.
As the proud owner/user of a 13 mini, I couldn’t agree more that smaller phones fitting in normal pockets are absolutely golden! I love The Studio, the concept, the people, conversations.
I love how Ellis popped up from behind to discuss about the iPhone 12 Mini.
4:20 dude I got in contact with Apple and did get my iPhone 6 Plus replaced, I still have pictures of it
12:15. I Love iPhone 16E because it got one camera front and back like old XR . And it don’t need to look cool then all iPhone’s.
X being on there is insane.
I'm livid that you hate on the 12 mini so much!! Of course Ellis' battery is worthless now, this phone has been living hard for a long time. This phone rocked, so did the 13 mini! Watching this on an iPhone X😂This thing is underrated.
I loved that Cydia Easter egg. Nostalgic.
How is the iPhone 4 not on this list, and not number 1? It literally didn't work.
Cydia logo in the BG 🔥RIP sweet prince. Also Ellis' kidnapper voice is killing me lmao
08:03 that bloody Mary Ellis Jumpscare, I'm ded 😭
Wait how did they forget antennae gate????? The worst iPhone controversy off all time. Madness
6:55 They seem to have personal beef with this dude lol
Straight up posted his username and everything lmao
Ellis was having so much fun editing the audio on this 😂
The 4 for antenna gate and 7 for removing the headphone jack could top this list imo
The 7 should have replaced the X, but the iPhone 4 antennagate was more of a viral moment than anything that people really cared about! That was the first front and back glass phone and literally everyone had some type of case on it! Even if you didn’t, you had to really try to make the signal drop!

I agree but Apple removing the headphone jack has made earphones and headphones get so much better. Apple set the bar. Plus I've had thousands of dollars worth of free headphones from Samsung Apple and Sony.
Honestly yeah, why wasnt the iPhone 7 on this list. Its the most controversial iphone
I MISS a small phone!!! My daughter first iPhone purchase the end of last year was the 12 mini. She's happy.
The iPhone 8 Plus has a special place in my heart, not just because it's the first iPhone I've ever had, but also because it's the only iPhone I have, lol. I wouldn't dare to use it as my main phone though. It hasn't died on me once since I've started using it and I don't plan on it reaching 0% anytime soon.
lock in vro and upload to your channel. there's no other way your going to get a iPhone 16 pro max 🙏
The 5c worked great for me until I busted my ass on my bike and the phone cracked in half while it was in my pocket
You didn’t rank the iPhone that cut the headphone jack?
I do remember a freak load of people having the 5c back in highschool
Just let go of my XR yesterday, bought it new when it came out. Never had one problem with it, Great phone.
I remember trying to get my dad to upgrade his 6s after having it for several years and stubbornly trying to keep it running, and the 13 mini was the perfect answer. Great option for people who were preferred the older form factor
Missing the iphone 7, the one that removed the aux. Still hate it
"There's literally nothing groundbreaking here in the iPhone." The voice edit SENT me.
I still have my 4S, my 6S, and my SE 2nd Gen. I have an 11 and won’t be upgrading for a while.
That intro montage was like actually god awful oml
love the cozy vibe in your videos.
iPhone 4…”antenna gate”, the first “gate”
@thisaintart Fair enough
Ellis's voice is literally killing me 😂😂
As a Purple 12 mini owner, it is the best colour ever on an iphone. And I agree with everything that Ellis says especially charging it all day 🤣Almost 4 years, time to upgrade but no similar sized options which absolutely sucks. Never selling it!
1:59 iphone 5c! in high school i broke my knee falling off my skateboard but my coral 5c lived
No iPhone 7 for headphone jack removal?? That turned my world upside down
5:57 rip cydia
Insane shots. Reminded me how beautiful the X remains all these years later.
Watching this on a 12 mini with a fried Autofocus, damn it’s a shame you think it deserves hate
The funny thing is where I live pretty much everyone had a 5C. I don’t think I met a single person that had a 5S.
I get that for most people it doesn't make sense to gete it, but it does for me because I pay 750 usd less and still get the phone functions I wanted.
damn where is the iphone that had signal issues if you hold it wrong?
i forget if it was the 4 or 4s
6:55 - good job on the anonymity for the commenter... poor Damian
Why the hate for the X? When that came out it was only hated by Apple haters, who were gonna mock whatever was released.
Love this channel guys, please keep doing creative stuff like this.
The most hated iPhone in the tech industry sold the most. That's how the world works outside tech.
The iPhone 12 mini should not have been moved to the right because of current issues. All other phones where ranked based of the state when they got released and not how they function today, except the iPhone 12 mini. And that websites/apps aren't optimized for the screen size isn't the phones fault but the companies fault.
9:10 the casket video is truly epic 😂😂😂😂
0:29 60 hz in 2025 i'm also dying😂😂
just buy a pro model man
@whatitfeels. "Just"
It costs loads man
Notch in 2025 I’m also about to die lol 😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂
@ネイチャーウォーカーJust buy any Android phone.
@GeeEee75so if i buy an android phone 2015, will that be better?
I love the anonymous voice changer but you can clearly tell it’s Ellis 😂
What happened to the ranking at 11:23 ?
Now Apple can use silicon carbon battery in mini
No no not the mini
People who actually like a phone that fits in your pocket will leave it there long enough to get through I full day before charging
Just upgraded from a XR this year. Still keeping it for a backup.
1:16 Think editor gone rouge
Na we definitely are twins
They turned red?
@godminnette2 we shoot a variety of cameras depending on the situation. Red for B-Roll and sometimes A Cam. Just depends on what we’re doing

Sorry guys, you’re wrong. The iPhone 5C in white is the best iPhone design, and it felt incredible in the hand.
This was fun! You guys should do more videos like this
0:38 mkbHD Lives in High Definition
I can’t imagine this channel being that good without marques there.
