The first time I heard this song, I literally lost my ability to breathe when the music picked up. I remember feeling infinite. But...that's not even right right word. I'm not sure I have one. I remember being breathless and moved. I remember thinking how this was the most perfect song you'd ever created. Aside from...midnight machines. I think sometimes when I hear this song I get a familiar feeling of an infinite possibility that somewhere in the afterlife I might be happy. It feels like there is a Lights album for every stage of my adult life. The Listening for when I met my husband in person for the first time (we met online as kids and lived in different countries). Siberia for when we were dating across the pond. Little Machines for when we got married and had to deal with the visa process while still living apart. Skin & Earth for my time adjusting to living in the States. Pep for dealing with the upcoming divorce and living alone after things didn't work out. I wonder what the next album and stage of my life will be like.
