im really sorry but as a beginner its quite hard to follow because you've already made something beforehand, so when i create a base comp on its own and name it life and do all those settings, having to connect it to the keyboard thing is a confusing step cus thats supposed to be like whatever project one is working on at the time... so the life base comp will have to be adjusted in relation to whatever the main project is, and it will be different every time, it is confusing to figure out how exactly to adjust it. is there any way that the life component can just be it's own video without a base project to link it to, something that can be used for all the projects and dropped into them easily?
hi there, really new beginner here, been trying some of your videos out and your work is amazing. i am trying to bluid the life component on it's own (i don't know if it's possible)... when adding the constant top, i can't change the output to "resolution only", my windoe is different as your's, all i have is the option to turn on or off "Comp with Input"... can you explain to me why is that ? is it because there is nothing going in the life component ? thanks in advance
Try plugging something into it. Like a “dummy node” that you’re not actually going to be using right now. I like to use the “in TOP” because then it inherits the correct resolution. Does that make sense?
When I drag the Add TOP to the Feedback TOP, the arrow of the activity stays stationary and I think that's why I'm not able to make everything work correctly. Can you please explain me why or am I doing something wrong? Thank you very much.
Superb! I've just one question. I'm trying to use the Life component on a .ply Point Cloud file and it scales it in a weird way. After some tests, if the point cloud is scattered on a 1x1x1 box it works fine, otherwise I believe some remapping is needed somewhere but I didn't figure it out where yet....any suggestions? XD
@@supermarketsallad In the end it worked by direcly adding the life to the position with an Over, without before multiplying it with the start positon, but can't say I completely understood why XD
@@supermarketsallad I found where the issue is, in almost all the early tutorials of yours the life component outputs a black and white texture via the outTOP inside the life component which then needs to be multiplied with the starting positions before being set as the first texture of the overTOP at the end of the Feedback Loop. In this tutorial however we're settings ourselves up for a pre-multiplication (the "life" outTOP uses a multiplication of the thresholdTOP and the inTOP that contains the original positions). To fix that you just need to bypass on of the multiplyTOPs (either the one inside the life component or the one immediately outside of it [to keep things properly ordered I would remove the one outside]).

me too !!
idk how to thank you! i always stuck at this level and now its just perfect, thanks for sharing you valuable information
Any chance of getting this for a one time purchase (mainly for the simplicity) via gumroad or similar?
Thanks for making this a separate tutorial
Ah I was using an analyze to reset my FB loops and causing a cook dependency, this is much better
hello i'm trying to create the life component but i don't understand why your tutorial starts with something already built. can someone explain to me?
Well, that was super helpful and so good to have in the future. Thanks a lot.

@@supermarketsallad thank you very much for your answer i will try that ;)
Man i love you tutorial but, as a beginner, i don't get how to create this component, can someone share the component or give some more info about it?
is there a way you could share the file?
Superb! Thanks a lot!

Really basic solution, but is your timeline paused? Make sure it’s playing
@@supermarketsallad Oh, yes. 🤦🏻
@Simons.Kopfkino I will never admit how often that happens to me
@@supermarketsallad 😅. Thank you very much for your support and for the wonderful content

Hello, it should work fine on a pointcloud, maybe try pressing reset after you plug the pointcloud in so it picks up the resolution.

@@ezpepz that makes no sense to me. But if it works, it ain’t broken. who am I to question it.
