Well done Fuzz. Enjoyed following you during my own prep for Ironman Wales. You're right, it's a top notch race. Couldn't believe the support throughout
I take it you've done IM Ireland though.... it's very very close I'd say but the home turf sways me lol. I had such an amazing time in Ireland. Both better then Bolton (RIP thankfully)
@@ironmanfuzz yeah I've done the full in Cork twice and the 70.3 in Cork a couple of weeks ago. Cork is a much easier bike route. It's not as relentless. The heat was incredible on the bike in Wales. At about 100km I genuinely thought I was in trouble, but got a second wind and felt stronger towards the end of the bike. I thought there was one steep bit on the run that was easier to powerwalk and I settled into a rhythm on the rest of it. It was noticeably easier when it started to get dark on my last lap. The heat all day really was very intense. Will never forget the smell from the portaloos. They had a 50m smell radius! Was very happy with my time in the end because it's definitely the toughest event I've done. Finished up in 14.21
As an overall event Wales is better than Cork. There's better crowd coverage overall and I honestly didn't think I'd come across a better event than cork but Wales was on a different level
That's good to hear. I did Ireland last year and I got cooked. I was hoping to learn from it that's why I'm so annoyed at myself. I lost a bottle before the first aid station and I forgot to pack salt on the bike. I felt too hot to eat (for once) and it was just a mission. That being said I was a lot better here then Ireland. My time wasnt but I didn't almost collapse and I managed to get a bit of a run on in places, not like Ireland I was in the tent at the end. Do Swansea 70.3 with me and Todd next year !
Great video thank you for sharing! I am racing IM Wales next year, absolutely cannot wait to be there and soak in the energy that Tenby gives. It will be my second full IM, going to be amazing!
It is an awesome race for sure. What was your first full? I'm going to do a recap on each bit after but I think having a lot more recovery helped me round this time.
@@ironmanfuzz I did IM Mont Tremblant in Quebec, it’s a beautiful little ski resort village. I live in the US so at a slight disadvantage in my familiarity with the course in Tenby, but I did get over last summer and rode the short loop of the bike. I am watching every possible race recap and course description I can find!
@@angelaredwine9800 I am going to get a video done on the bike course and break it down a bit more. Let me know if there's any specific parts you want me to cover and I'll make a point of including them. I still have some go pro footage from my training ride before. I might drive it for another video.
Thank you so much ! I feel so lucky to have found triathlon when I did it's been a great way to keep both mentally and physically fit. That's why I fundraise for mind they do important work. Thanks for subscribing ♥️
Yes it was! I keep saying it to other people but I'm constantly second guessing like ' How hot was it?' was it bad enough to be slowed down. I thought i'd have learned my lesson from Ireland. Glad you got over mate 🤟❤️
Congrats and I duff my cap to you! Great achievement in that heat as well! Great series and build up to the IM and I blame you for me booking the event for 2024 😂 enjoy the recovery and again, well done!
Yes I fully take responsibility for you signing up and smashing it next year lol. Honestly it's the best race I've done. I've gotta take a year off a full next year but if I didn't I would do it again in a heart beat. So stoked your signed up. You'll love it. I'll prob come down to support 🤟
Thanks so much! 😊 I can't remember if I asked how you got on in Cork? Hope it went ok. I need to do Wales again but stronger. I'm cutting weight for Swansea 70.3 now. Might be nice to do a smaller race for a change
Very many congrats unto you and everyone else that defied the heat and got across that finish line. Enjoy your thoroughly deserved medal, and look upon it with pride. I wish that I could've been there as one of those cheering you all on, but I suppose there's always next year...and the one after that, etc.
Great video, brought back slightly sick memories of walking from T1 to the swim, think I was like a rabbit in the head lights with the challenge ahead.
Well done
Thanks man. You should 100% come do it. Such a good race 🤟
I’ve done ✅ 🏴 wales 3 times. It’s got to be the most beautiful 😍 race in the world 🌍. Well done 👍 out there. Super awesome 🤩
It's my first time at Wales and it was the best race even though it was the hardest one be a mile and then some. Such great support. 🤟❤️

How did you get on. I was beating myself up with the heat like I was making excuses. It was stupidly hot though right ?

Emotional Watch! Well Done, great achievement.
Congratulations 🎉 you got it done. Absolutely mega. What a day. So glad we could be there cheering you on 👌
Thanks so much!! Still a bit annoyed at myself making a few mistakes and not getting it done a bit quicker mind.
Well done mate, it was my first full and loved every second of it! Tough day in that heat but we got it done! 👍

I think I was the opposite I wasnt thinking it was going to be as tough as it was the heat got to me.
