New York University (NYU) is a private research university in New York City (NYC). Chartered in 1831 by the New York State Legislature, NYU was founded by a group of New Yorkers led by then Secretary of the Treasury Albert Gallatin.
NYU has become the largest private university in the United States by enrollment, with a total of 51,848 enrolled students, including 26,733 undergraduate students and 25,115 graduate students, in 2019. NYU also receives the most applications of any private institution in the United States and admission is considered highly selective.
Past and present faculty and alumni include 38 Nobel Laureates, 8 Turing Award winners, 5 Fields Medalists, 31 MacArthur Fellows, 26 Pulitzer Prize winners, 3 heads of state, a U.S. Supreme Court justice, 5 U.S. governors, 4 mayors of New York City, 12 U.S. Senators, 58 members of the U.S. House of Representatives, two Federal Reserve Chairmen, 38 Academy Award winners, 30 Emmy Award winners, 25 Tony Award winners, 12 Grammy Award winners, 17 billionaires, and seven Olympic medalists.
NYU's New York City campus includes more than 171 buildings spread between Manhattan and Brooklyn. Most of the school's buildings in Manhattan are located across a roughly 230-acre (930,000 m2) area bounded by Houston Street to the south, Broadway to the east, 14th Street to the north, and Sixth Avenue (Avenue of the Americas) to the west. The core of NYU consists of buildings that surround Washington Square Park. In addition to its New York campus, NYU has 49 additional buildings overseas located throughout two 'portal' campuses and 12 Global Academic Centers.

this is where fictional Peter Parker went to college.
I thought he went to fictional Empire State University! The locations are heavily based on NYU and Columbia University in NYC though.

@@CampusMania wait, I know this is off topic. But man, what does that college specialize in. I mean, i guess they teach several things. Not all colleges have to be big ones in the "ncaa" TV colleges. But what kind of a campus is it? I know new york city is big, but really,...how much room can that college have WITHIN the city? on the other hand, if you do go there, you have daily access to the city entertainment and museums and metro and buses.

@@CampusMania Wish I had a time machine and could redo my life and go to a good college and take the major that I WANTED to [ not my parents ] and get a degree. Business adminstration and computers was stupid. I don't care how much money it pays. I should have studied art, and become maybe a teacher of ancient civilization or become a counselor or psychologist. Too late now. I am 60.
"Man walks around the city." NYU has no campus, haha. It's alright. It's a good school. They don't need one.
They literally have no campus. Just some scattered buildings around the city and mostly around Washington square.
