Hi Josh, commenting here as well. In your newest video for under $200 you mention you should get the A3000 instead of the A4000… which contradicts what you mention here. Can you please explain the change?
If they performed identically, were the same price and the 4000 felt good to handle in person, I'd take the 4000 over the 8000. I prefer understated styling and I love a matte finish. Mirror polish on metal or gloss on speakers really isn't my thing.
Just ordered the A4000 on Amazon in UK. I was checking twice a day for them and pounced. I am happy that they are made of plastic of some kind, plastic seems plenty tough for the purpose, ever tread on Lego in bare feet? Maybe metal has some sonic advantage I am unaware of. There is another model that looks similar named VR3000, sold as a gaming earphone.
I still have E3000 in the collection. It's no longer used now, but back when I first listened to it, the sound was quite good for the price. I'll try the A4000 now.
Just got my A4000 today. Burned them in for about 9hrs in their case while I was at work. I was pretty turned off at first when I unboxed them because of the build, but I've come to love the lightness and soft plastic build plus they're very very comfortable, they're design makes them very sleep worthy and within the first five seconds I knew I was going to be okay with the tuning. I'm not blown away with the tuning by any means, but I'm happy with my purchase and when it comes to soundstage and imaging these are super fun to listen to! I catch a buzz just trying to follow everything going on in my head. The soundstage is intoxicating, even though the tuning isn't my favorite.
Thank you for this great review, Josh. I tend to watch your videos within hours of publishing and usually a few times in case I'm interested in a product you are reviewing. I bought, liked, and returned the A4000 due to fitting issues. This video helped me decide to purchase the A4000, and I must say that I agree with your assessment. In particular regarding soundstage which is very spacious for an IEM (rivaling some over-ear headphones I'd say) way above its price range, the rest of the sound quality is good and enjoyable: it's mildly V-shape, a little bassy and a little sparkly on top, which I quite like. The only thing sound-wise I think can be better for this price range is bass definition; the sound is there and can be heard clearly, but lacks some structure. However, I had to return them due to fit issues. I couldn't find the right eartip from the included set nor was able to fiddle with the earbud to get it comfortable for my left ear. I couldn't use them for more than 20 mins without having to take them off because of unbearable pain, and I have no issues wearing Etymotic's IEMs for hours as a reference for my tolerance to using IEMs. So, if you are like me with rather small ears, beware of comfort-ability and fitting issues, make sure you purchase from a store that allows for returns and provide full refund.

I know you talk more about headphones and amps for headphones, but I wonder what mic/preamp do you use to get this clean audio for your videos? I think that is a part I have been missing. What would you recommend there? Based on your recommendations I got a Shiit HEL and I use it as preamp for my NTG2 mic, but It does not sound warm and inviting as your audio. :)
With their massive soundstage, would these be good for competitive esports gamers who have to use IEMs? I might have missed it, but hows the directionality? A lot of us come from LANs or tournaments where larger headphones that play white or pink noise are placed on top if a competitors iems of choice in order to block out exterior noise
I would say no, because wide soundstage rather is a disadvantage in positioning/directionality performance, this is true for Headphones. However there are IEMs that positioning good enough while still having a wide soundstage. I have the Audiofly AF180MK2 a pretty wide IEM and comparing it to the "Linsoul Shuoer Tape" I had here for testing, in games the AudioFly were the better support. But I have to say IEMs are not my weapon of choice in competitive shooters and I would clearly pick a Audio-Technica ATH-M60X, SHP-9500 or MMX300 over my AudioFly for directionality. I have the Philips X2HR and I love em for music (wide soundstage Headphones). But in games it goes to the point that I have barely any idea where the sounds are coming from.

@@thewoat6589 I also bought it. I consider it to be of good clarity, tonality, sound stage and resolving ability. Only dislike for me is being to shouty (need to -3db in ~6kHz). But I don't have any IEMs to compare except for ER4 that I have, so I'm really curious
I guess I will take a chance on the Sundara headphones. I like my KRK KNS 8400s but I'm wondering how much better it could be. I just got a SMSL Sanskrit Mk 2 and it blew my mind even with a cheap amp. It has the 4493 chip like the Modious. Later, I will probably get the Magnious.
Bought both of them and kept the 3000. can't turn the volume up on the 4000 because of its peaky treble responce. the 3000 sound really full but still keeps its definition at high volumes.

Hello Josh, Big fan...and inspired by this review of the A4000's, but for the life of me couldn't find where to purchase them. The link to Final's website brings one to a non-selling site as far as I can tell. And I couldn't even find the A4000's (site very focused on A8000 and E4000). Any suggestions of where I can buy in U.S. (ideally, California)? Thanks!

I’m looking for and headphone amp (just amp, no dac) with LINE OUT, so that the volume knob doesn’t control the output volume from the rca. Somthing like the Fiio K5 (not the pro) or topping A30. If anyone could help me I would love it! 💪🏻

I am currently looking for headphones at $150 so this feels especially relevant to me! Currently, I am looking at the Moondrop Aria or Starfields. So between those two and the a4000 which would you recommend?
I have the A4000 and like it but my experience of it does not match the impressions given in the video. I have used it with my two phones, a MacBook and two amplifiers and did not notice much soundstage at all. I use it daily, I am a bit of a FA fan but like many people when they received the a4000 they were disappointed with it. It is actually very good but thanks to hype expectations were high. That is what RUclips channels are for, they aren't giving you helpful tips or telling you about new products for your benefit.
@@mrfrosty3 unfortunately, mine arrived yesterday, and yes its just hype, the soundstage a bit wide but not wider like the joshua said..thx for replying. Im using SE846, the dark one IEMs, and the near soundstange, but I still prefer my se846.

Fantastic review. I have been curious about any IEMs that have good soundstage and I may have finally found what I'm looking for. I'm already a big fan of Final Audio so this really caught my attention. According to Crinacle's measurement of the A8000, they are bright V shaped. Would you say that these are warm or V shaped for the sound signature? It seemed to be leaning in that direction from the description you were saying of each section.
When Josh recommend the DT1990, I thought he's after V shaped sound with bright highs. I like more even sound, leaning more towards HD600 but with more extended bass.
I agree with everything except one thing: Lack of impact in balanced armature drivers. Again, you really _have_ to review the IER-M9. One of the very rare All-BA IEM that, if you wouldn't know, would not sound like one. You would be sure that this is at least an Hybrid and surprised about the fact its an all BA. Only downside to these is that they have been released in 2018 but the tips that are needed for these (EP-NI1000) have been released afterwards. So quite some people have problems fitting these or air pressure issues until they get the EP-NI1000 with them. But thats the only downside, you have to know that the designated (and recommended) tips for these are not included in the box. Its like the XBA-Z5 that doesn't come with an 4.4mm cable but an 2x3.5mm Balanced cable that nobody uses, not even Sony themself (except for the TA-ZH1ES) But other than that, they are insane. Get some (with the EP-NI1000) and i'd be highly surprised if it will not land in your top 3

If you like the tuning I say so
plz help me out guys i wanna buy headphone but confused between this and 1more qaud driver any suggestion cuz this a4000 and 1more has similar price point !
As you mentioned Starfield, did you have any reviews on KXXS or Blessing 2 please?
I need blessing 2 to be fantastic. Arrives in a few days
@@thewoat6589 I also bought it. I consider it to be of good clarity, tonality, sound stage and resolving ability. Only dislike for me is being to shouty (need to -3db in ~6kHz). But I don't have any IEMs to compare except for ER4 that I have, so I'm really curious
@@jacobzhong3971 theres always gonna be something thats not ideal. Several great reviews and crinacle creaming his pants convinced me
I guess I will take a chance on the Sundara headphones. I like my KRK KNS 8400s but I'm wondering how much better it could be. I just got a SMSL Sanskrit Mk 2 and it blew my mind even with a cheap amp. It has the 4493 chip like the Modious. Later, I will probably get the Magnious.
1more Quad Driver (often at 130 USD) or the Final Audio A4000?
Is the A4000 better, or is the Moondrop Starfield still the best in this price range???!
Best wishes
Moondrop better
@@robtoes5937 i hade both, an the A4000 ist much better.
In terms of soundstage & sound quality against Moondrop starfield how does the A4000 fare?
Hey man! Is there an IEM that will get close to the DT 990 Pro’s? I use them for gaming, and I want to find an IEM that will come close.
Does it require an amp for getiing the best output Josh...
Bought both of them and kept the 3000. can't turn the volume up on the 4000 because of its peaky treble responce. the 3000 sound really full but still keeps its definition at high volumes.
Would these still sound good when using your smartphone as the source instead of an dedicated amp?
😲 I see the S.M.S.L SH-9 in there. I been looking at that but waiting to see better reviews on it. Any chance you are doing a future review on this Josh? 😉 As always. Great video.
Considering it's use being close to skin and hair oils I don't think soft touch plastic was the way to go at all, that stuff is going to get sticky/tacky over time. What a shame.
Does anyone know where you can buy the A4000s in North America?
p.s great vid as always, loved all of those close up shots :-)
Tag me if someone knows.
Ordered mine from www.hifiheadphones.co.uk after this review. Final Audio fan here 😎
@@simonguilmain8834 It seems like it is for pre-order right? Did it say when it would arrive? Do they charge much for shipping if you aren't in the UK?
@@TalesOfGod Correct it is a pre-order but no date confirmed yet. Shipping to Canada was $12.99 GBP.
Diff between VR3000 and these?
How would this compare to the Sony XBA-N3AP?
Great review. Thanks!
Not certain if you’ve reviewed the Tin Planar IEM but would make an interesting comparison.
Picked these up and found them to have no soundstage at all, these are being overhyped everywhere by reviewers. If anyone is really looking for soundstage in an IEM, check out the Fiio FD5.
do you actually have the fd5 or are you just going off of dank pods review?
@@ethandimble5360 dank pods didn't review the fiio fd5 and yes I do own them
@@j1nftw1n he reviews them in his iem video (unless I am thinking if a different model), also do the fiio beat out the a4000 in all areas or just soundstage?
@@ethandimble5360 Sound signature is subjective so what I prefer may vastly differ from yours. But in terms tangible qualities such as imaging, instrument separation, soundstage etc the fd5 outperforms the a4000. For context I game with the fd5 as well where imaging is important and it was no contest. For my taste the a4000 sounded to clinical and lifeless.
You probably didn't try to get better fit, try more tips
Hey Josh, since it has a good soundstage, does that carry over in gaming?
Hey Josh, what tips did you use with the A4000? The highs on this IEM are quite elevated and I'm struggling a bit with sibilance
similar to the case of my m9, jam 'em deeper with their smallest tips, works well for me since my ear canals are small as is, but your case may vary
not sure if it is applicable with every iem though
Because it's actually a bad IEM..
Wow. This is looking like my next purchase . But would like a comparison with DMS’s dog before finalizing on the purchase.
i was considering buying the moondrop starfield , but now that i saw your video , idk what to choose , what would u choose between the starfield and a4000 , great video btw
guys is there an international link where i can buy the Final Audio A4000 ??
I have starfield and I love it. Might not be good if you're a basshead
Just Google final a4000
@@RikuoNura383 i only had a gaming headphones , i want to experience music as it comes out from the studio , what do u think is better , what's the neutral one of them ??
I have the Final E5000 and E4000 and the Starfeild’s. I would say both the Finals are quite a bit better in sound quality.
@@hinatahyuga7685 haven't had a chance to hear the finals, because it's not available in my country, but if you like something towards neutral, starfield is pretty good. Change the tips if you want more isolation & bass
Thanks!
So wait...are those powerd b1's back there? I never noticed that before. I love my b1+. I keep swapping back and forth with similar bookshelves, but these always find their way back.
Joshua we want u12t, ve8, anole vx and solaris reviews
Solaris 2020 plz
You sold me on it, all of the "downsides" you stated were all positives for me, personally.
yeah especially when he said they were too light. I would prefer my iems to be as light as possible for comfort.
Hi Joshua! Can you review OneOdio pro 50? They are considered to be very good for the price.
It’s a bit of an Off Topic but I would really appreciate if u could give me some advice. I’m looking for and headphone amp (just amp, no dac) with LINE OUT, so that the volume knob doesn’t control the output volume from the rca. Somthing like the Fiio K5 (not the pro) or topping A30. If anyone could help me I would love it! 💪🏻
Interesting... having trouble where this item is actually for sale? Thanks.
A friend of mine is looking into a competitive gaming In-ears and these sound like a good option, what would you think? (And the light weight gonna be a big plus)
I am currently looking for headphones at $150 so this feels especially relevant to me!
Currently, I am looking at the Moondrop Aria or Starfields. So between those two and the a4000 which would you recommend?
Get the Aria, got it last week and it's awesome. Punches way above its weight, prefer them over the Starfields honestly
@@Junya01aria is more mainstream sounding, I like it and I use it everyday but it's kinda boring sometimes
Could you review the Adv. Sound GT3s, Furai, and Model 3?
Talk about open soundstage, how about sony EX1000's ? Can the FA A4000 beat it?
Do you know when these IEMs will be available in the States?
They can be had on headphones.co.uk so probably soon
Will you review the new A5000?
I see the high speed storage over there, you building a rig?
You should try a Sony EX800st or a LZ A6/7(not personally heard). I love the Sony's width and comfort, a great bit of kit IMO.
well, since he tried the ier z1r, i feel as if he'd already gotten a good enough reference on what to expect from the ier m9/m7, personally bought them over the z1r bcz of their substancially better comfort
Its like the XBA-Z5 that doesn't come with an 4.4mm cable but an 2x3.5mm Balanced cable that nobody uses, not even Sony themself (except for the TA-ZH1ES)
But other than that, they are insane. Get some (with the EP-NI1000) and i'd be highly surprised if it will not land in your top 3
Would love to see your take on the Moondrop Blessing 2's
So if I am seeking a super bassy IEM what would be my cup of tea?
Final E5000 or TFZ no3
Campfire Audio Polaris 2
So would you buy the starfield or these?
Good Q. I’m not sure, they both have pros and cons. Starfiield is probably a better value but final is probably a slightly better iem.
@@JoshuaValour okay,. I see. Thank you! btw I love your videos
