Nothing to do with American muscle. Those are highly modified, if not purpose built, cars, running on nitromethane race fuel and putting out like 3000hp. The thing about Building a Preformance car is this: It serves as your transportation as well as a statement as to what you value most in a car. Do you prefer a car than can take a corner? focus on the brakes and the suspension and tires. Speed more your thing? revamp the ECU, tweek the fuel air mix, add in some good spark plugs, and toss in a few superchargers or turbos into it. Personally, I'm more all around. Would like a car that is fast and yet can take a corner as easily as a F1 car.

There was nothing humbling about losing to a modified car. Not everybody buys a car in hopes of smashing the sound barrier. Most who have the privilege to choose, buy cars that feel right, that feel good to drive. Modded straight-liners don't give any of that sort of feeling.

There is no replacement for modification... which is what top gear hates..
***** You are the *only* idiot I have ever heard call a turbocharger a supercharger. Your incorrect stereotypes are ridiculous.
And no you are wrong again, a turbo is not the replacement for displacement..... because big engines can run turbo(s) also.
Never try to beat us at our sport lol
whats the 0-60 on those cars?
MrWeeRhys
Not fast enough. Same as their 0-100 and quarter mile. 😀
You mean driving in a straight line?
These three guys got so badly spanked over and over again it was starting to get embarrassing. No wonder why they didn't like drag racing.
I’ve seen some pretty fast drag cars in the U.K. most of them though are American and nearly all use American engines though.
I love the LFA, Viper, and Vanquish
those guys don't know about reaction time
+SUBZERO KNIGHT Or sleeper Evos.
they don't know about staging burnouts either... look that Hammonds launch in the Viper...
good point they don't know anything about drag racing at all.
SUBZERO KNIGHT I should point out, in Australia, a study was conducted, where it was discovered that MightyCarMods was actually more influential amongst the youth than TopGearUK. This is evidence that, in the latter seasons, they were just ignorant.
I did not know that thank you
It is unbelievable how fast that white pickup jumps off the line.
Watching Jeremy almost instantly eat his words was hilarious, this is revenge for him constantly talking shit about NASCAR
He just sodded off 😂😂
"all wheel drive beats rear wheel.drive." accurate as fuck.
true as with 4wd you get better control accerating
Only true until you get up to the big leagues of drag racing, then the front wheels tend to not really touch the ground much hahah
The Celica had a awd turbocharged i6 model,
That shot from the jet fighter over the ovel was awsome...
they actually call it beat the meat
I can honestly say that Viper was one great looking car.
Too bad there weren't any Top Fuel cars
Lane shut up you are embarrassing America. First of all calm down. Second. The Bugatti isn't modified as it comes off the assembly line, that is just how they make it, it is a STOCK Bugatti.
Damn, that pickup DUSTED Jeremy, lol
These guys need to see some real drag racing... Top fuel cars going 330 mph in 3 1/2 seconds and 10,000 HP....
Oh I love it when people underestimate tuner cars. "Just a little 4 cylinder" is probably my favorite thing people say.
"Beat the meat"
LMAO
Obviously it’s scripted but it’s still so satisfying watching their faces as their supercars get absolutely annihilated by everything
bring back beat the heat!!!

1:45-“Tonight, I Point At A Thing” Original Clip
Nice to see Clarkson get humbled by good ole American iron,HA HA
Not all of it was "American iron". I think the point wasn't that they were racing against American cars, it was that they were racing against modified cars. They obviously have a strong bias for bought cars over built cars. That's what was so humbling about it. Hell, Hammond was driving a Viper.
it was most likely steel, Iron is very difficult to get these days.
There was nothing humbling about losing to a modified car. Not everybody buys a car in hopes of smashing the sound barrier. Most who have the privilege to choose, buy cars that feel right, that feel good to drive. Modded straight-liners don't give any of that sort of feeling.
Like i said, the british get humbled by good 'ole american iron" ha ha.
*Facepalm*
He said "all-wheel drive beats rear-wheel drive", which the Evo is which is true in the context of drag, rally, and a few other types of races. Not being mean just pointing out the honest error, I understand it was a bit hard to hear no thanks to the legendary BBC sound editor. Cheers
put the video at 0.5 speed while you are drunk. you can thank me later.
+Captain Dammit 2.0 speed is more fun XD
Jacob B lmao it is funny spead up but drunk at half speed is great xD
When he said beat the meat at 0.5 speed it killed me😂😂😂
1:26 Jezza says the sheriff's truck is a crummy pickup truck.
1:37
KARMAAAAAAAAAAAA
Beat the Meat LOL
They're worth so much money because they are masterpieces of construction finesse, handling, power, and the balance between all the elements that make up a car
Anything built for the strip abolishes all extra and says "Screw it, we're going forward super fast!"
Specialized vehicles in their natural enviroment
I was able to ride in the car that raced against the police car
Difference is, the Lexus, viper, and Aston Martin can launch and drag race all night, while all the other modified cars will start to fall apart after a couple more back to back races
3:03 is that an srt6?
Yes, likely with not many upgrades either
series 19 really is one of the best
Amurica!
Hahaha I wasn't expecting that pickup to take off like a fucking sneeze out a of a nostril, hilarious!
What does Jeremy says on 1:40
Whaaats thaat!? Or Faasteer!
I guess.
***** Yeah that right! maybe haha!
Mart Kormor That's there
3:07 Hammond doing his best Joseph Joestar impression.
Maybe they better try a Nissan gtr(nismo) or a McLaren mp4
Nismo GTR would destroy every single one. Better yet throw in a modded Skyline R34 and the cops would be running scared.
Wookie Hdzzerz That first cop truck would beat most modded GTR's and Skyline's.
Wookie Hdzzerz
...You expect a mid 10s car to beat these cars?...Wow..
Those cars would get wrecked too
graffthestreets Drake Switzer AHAHAH, a shitty modded ford pickup is going to beat a Nissan Skyline that can potentially be tuned to up to 1100hp, please do your fucking research.
Music at the end Nina Simone - I Shall Be Released
Doesn't top gear USA suck?
Idk they are made by the same people I think, I live in America and have seen both and I can tell you as of now British top gear kicks ass. Jeremy, Richard, and James are amazing hosts, both knowledgable and funny.
8pjbh1996 Their dynamic is awesome, it's like they're just naturally good together. The American version seems like a very obvious knock off with a forced group dynamic, too me at least.
Yes indeed!
Saw the slicks and thought they had no chance
Beat The Meat God Bless America
Feigned ignorance or not, the exclamation Jeremy makes when that truck takes off on him cracks me up.
