Chad Daybell told daughter 'I'm not coming back' as the two discussed finances following arrest

BOISE -- Chad Daybell discussed finances with his daughter and told her he "wasn't coming back" after being taken into custody the morning human remains were found buried on his property.
For the first time, police video footage from inside a patrol car was shown during Daybell's trial Monday morning. The video is from June 9, 2020 and was recorded shortly after deputies found the body of Joshua "JJ" Vallow.
Rexburg Police Det. Eric Wheeler testified that as police searched Daybell's property, he watched from inside his vehicle parked in the driveway. He then drove the car to his daughter's home, which was kitty corner from his, and about 60-90 minutes later, took off in the vehicle.
Officers followed the car, pulled Daybell over and put him in the back seat of Wheeler's police vehicle. They allowed his daughter, Emma Murray, to speak with him and a portion of the conversation was played during court.
"They said I could talk with you and I didn't want you to be alone," Murray says through tears. "I love you so much."
Daybell thanks his daughter for coming over and then discusses finances for several minutes. He tells her there is $9,000 cash in a drawer inside his home and explains how much is in different bank accounts.
He tells Murray how to log into his Telmate account, a system used to communicate via phone or video with incarcerated inmates. Daybell regularly spoke with his wife, Lori Vallow Daybell, who was at the Madison County Jail.
"She'll need to still have commissary money. I usually put $30 a week on there. You can probably talk to her too," Daybell tells Murray.
"It sounds like you're not going to be out for a little while," Murray tells her dad. He laughs and responds, "I'm not coming back. All that stuff in the baby room is Lori's and mine...Just put it in the garage."
Around 20 minutes of footage was played in court but Fremont County Deputy Prosecuting Attorney Rocky Wixom said the entire video is over an hour.
Daybell was taken to the Fremont County Jail shortly after his conversation with Murray but before he is taken away, he says, "I'm sorry. We will get through this."

Lori isn't the entire reason their life is upside down. Chad has his own culpability in all of this. He CHOSE to do what he did. Maybe he was vulnerable, maybe he "fell into" Lori's trap, but he knew exactly what he was doing getting involved with another woman. Prior tries to paint it as if he wouldn't have met Lori and did what he did, then life as they knew it would be fine. Chad knew right from wrong and acted of his own volition. He knew "dark zombies" had to die in order to release the spirit they were possessed by. He is the one who rated the kids in order to justify their horrendous actions. Chad is responsible for his actions and the BS he fed Lori about her kids. They were a perfect storm with disaster written all over it. They are both twisted and goofy, but knew what they were doing or they wouldn't have gone to such lengths to try and cover it up. Not only that, they are both just effing stupid. I have no insight into this situation specifically, but I believe that police sometimes do this sort of thing (e.g. allowing a suspect and a family member to speak at the police station), in the hopes that the parties will share information that is ultimately helpful to the suspect's prosecution. The parties may not be aware or forget that they are being recorded, and speak more freely than they would in any formal interview setting.
He said they didnt know what jail he was supposed to be sent to, because the kids went missing in one jurisdiction but they and him were in another jurisdiction just over the boundary line

Someone close to us had more than $10,000 in cash and at least that much in coins in his house. House burned down with all of that in it. He could have helped a couple of people with his spare change. But he did not. Didn’t do anything for anyone. Got his house rebuilt.
Another relative died with 27,000 in cash under her bed. Her husband killed himself after she died. His brother (who he hadn’t talked to in Decades) stepped in and took it. My cousins didn’t get a cent of the cash their mother had in the house. It was from money she earned baking cakes for weddings.
