There’s no much information on internet because it’s been 20 years from it happened. But at that time they were played all the time on the radio 😁

When they perform in live shows, this "baby voice" technique leads singers to get tension which makes them sing badly at some parts of the songs (The high notes), (That's why Britney does playback in live shows a lot) so in order to avoid that, they have to sing with their real voice. :)
