Her stunning voice with Vince’s always great backing up and one of the best country bands ever. Also, the bottle let me down. Just about as much of a country song as there is.
Saw Emmylou back when I was about 20 (50 years ago), in a small venue in DC. She and I are about the same age. Just her and her piano. I wasn't into "country" music back then, but I was blown away, and have followed her career ever since. Beautiful lady, teaches the angels how to sing in her spare time!
The venue you're describing in DC might have been the Childe Harold, a bar/restaurant right off Connecticut Ave. That was the first place I saw her back in the day. She hasn't missed a beat since then.
Just seen Emmylou in the UK, her show with Rodney Crowell was truly magical. Loved Vince for many years, the two of them together make such sweet music.
i run a small country music club in north Lincolnshire in England, and nowhere wlil you find two more amazing voices than these, Oh I wish could afford to bring these these two amazing people to my club fabulous voices. absolutely amazing, oh god I wish I had the money to employ such fabulous talent to my club.
Okay, I'm a rocker guy from Boston and the Boston club scene from the late 70's- mid 80's. One of my favorite bands around this time was Little Feat and I was turned on to Emmy Lou. It is now LATE 2017 and I am still turned on to Emmy Lou. It does not matter what kind of music you listen to or buy: Good music AND great performers are what all that matters. She is beyond GREAT! Thank you for posting this
Lowell George and Little Feat rocked! One of my favorites too. And all the lovely ladies who played with Lowell, Linda Rondstat, Bonnie Raitt. I loved the slide guitar. And of course Emmylou too, in a different genre.
Making believe That you still love me It's leaving me alone and so blue Still I'll always dream But I'll never own you Making believe It's all I can do Can't hold you close When you're not with me You're somebody's love You'll never be mine Making believe I'll spend my lifetime Loving you and making believe Making believe I never lost you But my happy hours Are far and so few My plans for the future Will never come true Making believe What else can I do Making believe I'll spend my lifetime Loving you and making believe
Little correction, Brenda. "Making believe, that I never lost you But my happy hours I FIND are so few" I wrote this song when I was sixteen years old. Not a word or note was changed. Jimmy Work was given credit for my song.
Drove from Pensacola, Fl. to Memphis, Tn. just to see her live at the Shell in Overton Park a few years ago, Great Show! Got up and went home the next day!
Lived with county music all my life I am a Cardiff boy Welsh and proud of it .bred up on Emmy Lou, willy Kris Johnny Waylon george Jones and of course the great Tom T Hall Country boy through and through ,love it .hope to stand in the centre of country music one day at the Ryman what a dream
Took my daughter to Emmylou playing at the Pageant in St Louis. She hadn't heard of Emmylou before , but she sure knew who she was after. She is brilliant, and an American treasure
I just can't figure out how one person can say they did not like this video yet the likes of 106 people. You know if this is not your sort of music. Click on something else. This way we can all be happy!

Paul is great on pedal steel in this band, and in everything he does actually, but so is Larry Franklin, who is an amazing fiddler, up for CMA fiddler of the year this year, and also in the band. :)
I don’t believe any recording equipment can capture the purity of Emmy Lou’s voice....try to get to hear her sing outside...it is as natural as the wind and clear as water...
I agree with that ten thousand percent! Recordings and pictures do not do her justice. Emmylou Harris has to be seen live in order to be fully appreciated. She has extraordinary qualities that are lost in the translation to records or video or radio, but she still sounds great no match what.
You did great Emily lou. But Vince was holding back. He has been a gentleman. But he was holding back with someone as good as you. You still sounded fantastic
Yep : it was not one of her good days... If it was not Emmylou herself signing, I would say it is a bad imitation. Just compare : ruclips.net/video/xEb9dEMV3p8/видео.html

Can’t believe she was 65 here. She always has been terrific. Every note clear as can be. Bless you, emmylou
Vor über 40 Jahren habe ich diese Frau erstmals gehört und ich bekomme immer noch feuchte Augen.😘
WOW! 2 Country Music Legends. Emmylou Harris has a unique bluegrass voice I love.
The way a classic country song sounds. Simple and both sweet and sad. Superb.
Emmy Lou Harris made my life a little sweeter, THANKS
When these two or Emmy and Rodney Crowell perform together, it always a gift. When you get all three, it is magical.
They always need Vince, to hit those high notes.
Thank you Emmy and thank you Vince
Just seen Emmylou in the UK, her show with Rodney Crowell was truly magical. Loved Vince for many years, the two of them together make such sweet music.

This must have been recorded with a flip phone.
