    Can confirm your comments about Altezzas being good dailys. I've been dailying mine for over 2 years, done nearly 30xxx KMs, and it's never given me a single issue. Love the BEAMS engine. J160 gearbox doesn't feel as nice as a Honda gearbox, but it works. Also gearing is a little long imo for sporty driving, but perfect for everyday. The chassis balance and feel is great too. Steering is light but still has good feedback. Super comfortable seats and Toyota build quality. Can't go wrong with the Altezza/IS300 platform.

    The squirrely behaviour on heavy braking is due to bump steer.
    Once the is300 is lowered past a certain point without geometry correction (eg, RCA'S) bump steer gets really bad.

    • @triotrio1000ify
      @triotrio1000ify 2 года назад

      On these cars its typically due to bad bushing on the front tension arms. Most switch to poly or spherical to correct it. Doesn’t look like this “is” is sitting too low for that to come into play.

    nice car, I am not a fan of BW turbos unless its the EFR series turbos, those old journal bearing turbos are no where near as efficient as the newer billet wheel turbos of similar size, never mind the journal bearing vs ball bearing. If this guy swapped that turbo out for the efr version, it would spool much faster and produce more power.

    • @jacobwebb8818
      @jacobwebb8818 2 года назад

      I know a lot of the 4 cyl guys love the BG 2 series (S2××) because of it's good spooling properties. I know that journal bearings are not ideal for most applications, however the Borg Warner S series is based off of their old high performance line of turbos. It's basically as good as journal bearings can get.
      Sometimes even outperforming some ball bearing turbos around the same size and price due to their extensive years of research. This also means they can sell these turbos for dog cheap (sometimes like $550-800) and they are a tank of a turbo they can take huge abuse like 35 PSI for extended periods of time like 2-3 years without a rebuild at very high boost levels.
      One example I know of is zzperformance for the Cobalt engines (LSJ and LNF) they tested many turbos and said the Borg Warner put down the most power reliably with the best boost curve out of I think 20+ turbos they tested

A buddy of mine went through 3 BW Turbos in one season, it just didnt work out for him not sure why, he ended up going with a garret gt3582 after he gave up on the BW turbos, the garret hasnt let him down yet and its been 5 years now.

      @A2J_Tim 4 месяца назад +1

      @@jacobwebb8818 actually no, after the first turbo we upgraded the line size for the oil supply so more volume could get to the turbo because that was what the supplier suspected, then we checked the flow on the turbo oil outlet tube, we were flowing plenty of oil, but that turbo failed 2 months after install, It was warrantied and we tried it again but it failed again, so we opted for the Garret turbo and he has never looked back that turbo has been holding up just fine. I personally have never wasted money on a journal bearing turbo because I have see too many failures, but have yet to see a ball bearing turbo fail including the EFR series turbos.

    Why does it have drag slicks rice rice baby no need for that would hook on a r888r from a dig on the street such a shame that car has amazing corner potential now it's just a boat with no power and will get walked by any new euro car or us car with decent power even my Volvo S40 from 1998 pulled harder and was on street tires
