No worries Alan. Looks good for what it is and the conversation too me is the most important. Thank you again for giving me the opportunity to talk to you for a bit. I had a blast! //Jonas
great wonderful interview. just found it now. sure i saw VINYL and ALTERNATE VINYL. but ... did not know about RECORDS. and it looks there is no stream or to-buy version online ? to is there a way to SEE the RECORDS docu ? .... andreas from berlin/germany
I had a short conversation with him in the RUclips comments, he is absolutely great, but it took me some time to get it, now I am a fan. Thank you for doing this.
I know of Alan, some of the vinyl heads I know in the greater Toronto area know him well and have made it in his sequel to Vinyl, he’s quite a character
Yes! Made my day with this interview Jonas. Vinyl is such a wonderful doc and I've watched it many times. We can all see traits in the collectors in ourselves. I've watched the alt version but didn't realise Alan had done a new doc. I need to see it asap, just disappointed to hear K Tel guy couldn't be found! I'm one of those guys with sleeves who considers it as important as the record condition. I even clean up sleeves before I clean the lp! BTW If you haven't heard Battered Ornaments/Pete Brown & Piblokto before you need to check them out. Something you'd definitely like. Thanks again to you and Alan for this...cheers Nigel
Thank you for watching and commenting. It was a wonderful chat and i hope Alan had a great time too. So nice of him to take the time to talk about films and records. And also showing a few. Try to see if you can find the other doc. Records. Its fantastic! //Jonas
Jonas, enjoyed every moment, thanks for doing this. I discovered the vinyl doc during pandemic, so far ahead of anything else ever made on the subject. I'll have to watch the new one soon. I hope you bring him back for another session in the future. cheers alex
Thanks for the kind words. I had a great time. I discoverd Vinyl way back. I have tried to rewatch it every other year. Love the people and Alans approach to the people and the subject. The follow up is well worth your time, i guarantee it!
Hi, great interview. Enjoyed it a lot. I only can`t get over it, that you consider record collectors the same as stamp collectors or similar stuff. You are right, you can look at it, you can touch it, but records you can listen to and that`s a huge difference. Toy collectors can also play with their toys, but all of them keep the toys in the package. The same what some record collectors do, who keep their records sealed and don`t listen to it. That is also the difference between a record collector and a music collector. The music collector buys only what he really likes and will listen to it. He`s no horder or completitist, because he likes and listen to records he bought. You can`t convince me that the other ones really like and listen to all the stuff they buy. Greetings
I agree with you to a certain extent. Its unfair to clog it in there with stamp or coin collectors. Its something you can listen to and enjoy at another level than other collections. But i stand strong in my opinion that its not only about the music. I cant talk for all collectors obviously. I think there are as many different ways of collecting as there are collectors. Thanx for watching and commenting. Im really happy that you respond and give your thoughts on the subject. This is what its all about!! //Jonas
@@SCjuisy absolutely. Never hesitate to comment anything you want. I welcome different opinions. Thats why i started the channel. That and to be able to show my beautiful face to the world. Obviously! =) //Jonas
Whar a surprise, Jonas! Great video. I watched his "Vinyl" doc years ago but wasn´t aware of his new one called "Records". I would really love to watch it but unfortunately I just can't find it. Now maybe you can come up with more videos like this as well. Best wishes, Nelio.
Thank you. Yes the chat with Alan was great. He is a great great guy and the insights I got regarding the films was a fantastic addition to the movies. Thanks for watching. Keep looking for “Records”. It’s out there but you need a vpn to watch it if you don’t live in Canada.
It's so upsetting that filmmaker's as well known and regarded as Alan Zweig is unable to get his films shown out in the world and can't make money from it. As a filmmaker myself I totally understand as I haven't made a penny from filmmaking.
Excellent interview, Jonas. I’m watching the Vinyl alternate cut right now. I looked for “Records” streaming online, but couldn’t watch it in the States.
Thank you. Alan did the lifting. I just buckled up and tried to hang on 🤣🤣 As Alan says I had to use a VPN to watch it. Well worth the struggle I assure you! //Jonas
Thoroughly enjoyed every second of this. I got about 5 mins into it and had to go watch Vinyl, I got about 5 mins into Vinyl and I realised I'd already seen it (but I watched it all again) Then I continued to finish this video and it just worked out so well doing it in that order. My son is a film buff, he studied film too, I'll be sitting down with him and watching Vinyl with him in the next few days. What an interesting character he is, so genuine. Thanks so much for making this video it was so interesting and funny 😊
Thank you so much for not only watching it but also commenting. I had a blast sitting down and talking with Alan. Such a great guy. Really down to earth and super intelligent. I belive i got what i was hoping for in the conversation and hopfully adding a little bit more and new to the already fantastic documentary. Thanks again! //Jonas
If I were a millionaire, I would buy 10 mansions or more and feel them all with records, 8-tracks, Reel to Reel's Cassettes, Toys and posters and t shirts and buttons and drums and vintage stereo equipment....Heaven!!! I was listening and was obsessive about records before I could even remember. My dad had at least 7 or 800 records, all different genres, Jazz, Progressive rock, Psychedelic rock, r&b. He had a lot of obscure artists such as, Mount Rushmore, Eire Apparent, Gypsy, Joseph, Compost, Zuider Zee, Harvey Mandel, Cold Blood, Jo Mama, The Groundhogs, Jericho Jones, Affinity, Jasper Wrath, Haps Hash and The Coloured Coat...and so on and so on. They all eventually got destroyed by me playing them as a little kid and not handling them correctly and being abusive with them and we're all trashed by 1995. My dad passed away at the age of 71 3 years ago and his collection meant the whole world to me and it's my life's mission to find every last one of them. I'm 42 now and so far I have about 65 out 7 or 800 of them, but I will get there even though a lot of them are extremely rare and expensive. I remember every last one of them though. R.I.P. Dad....❤️💓💓💓 Loved you're documentary, btw.
I just realized I forgot to hook up my good webcam. I look fuzzy and out of focus, just like my thought patterns. Nice talking to you Jonas.
No worries Alan. Looks good for what it is and the conversation too me is the most important. Thank you again for giving me the opportunity to talk to you for a bit. I had a blast! //Jonas
Where's the link to records doc. I've been waiting over 3 years to watch it
Have no idea if it's still out on RUclips or available on physical format. Sorry.

He really is but in the best way imaginable. We had a great little talk. I hope to do it again some day.
Vinyl ''was superb, thanks Alan. I've told hundreds of folks about it over the years.
It’s the film to watch! The only one that gets under the skin of us collectors.

VINYL... IT'S HEAVEN. AND IT'S AN AWESOME DOCUMENTARY.
Great insightful interview. Thank you for this with the man himself. Best wishes from Liverpool uk

Yes very frustrating. Agree 110%
Alan has a great way of explaining things.
He sure has!

Hey, what's that "Percussion" record on the bottom left of the screen?
I still have my copy of vinyl on VHS.

I was in Vinyl. No big deal.
To me it is. Cool! And thank you.
There's a sequel to 'Vinyl'?
There is and it's called records. There's a trailer on it. Looks amazing, but can't find it anywhere. Came out 2021
