- Beautiful Camino walk from Oia to Baiona, Spain! 18 KM! The path is along the Atlantic coast and then climbs the mountain to descend into Baiona. Parts are a challenge and steep but very manageable. We took our time and enjoyed the views, ocean waves, surfers, horses, streams, and cafe after leaving the mountain.
A favorite meal of our entire Camino was at the Asador Maria Eugenia. It is a steak house and appeared to be a favorite for local people. We are foodies and enjoyed every dish we tried--Octopus Pizza, Baked Scallops, Iberian Pork, and lovely salad.
Baiona is a charming small town and we took a rest day to enjoy the historic town, beautiful beach, and walk the grounds of Castelo de Montreal. More to come.
We used the GPX app official walk path. Read the directions and watch closely for the "Camino's Yellow Arrows." While this path is clearly marked it is easy to be absorbed in the beauty of the walk and miss an important turn.
Also walking in late October the weather on the majority of days was pleasant. The day we walked this trail was overcast and rained. Checking the daily forecast before we started each day was important for having the proper gear.
