Guitar: 2020 Julia Wenzel CD/CSAR (tinyurl.com/yx...)
Here's Raphaël Feuillâtre playing "Vals Op. 8, No. 3" by Agustin Barrios Mangore on a fantastic classical guitar made by Julia Wenzel in 2020 with cedar top and CSA rosewood back and sides. Recorded at the Guitar Salon International showroom in Santa Monica, CA.
Huge thanks to the folks at Apogee Electronics (ApogeeDigital.com) for the use of their Ensemble interface in these recordings.

The six people who pressed dislike were obviously listening to a different video.
true
De verdad porque sus oídos fueron tapados
Probably some jealous recorder players.
Yes, because if you like it, then nobody is then allowed to dislike it. RUclips rules?
This guy. So expressive.
His phrasing is really special.
Best version i've heard so far.....too many players take obscene liberties with a defined tempo......this is reliably consistent with more than enough expression
I suggest you to listen to the restored version of Barrios playing himself and you realized that almost all the transcriptions are wrong and that he 'play' also with the tempo.
ruclips.net/video/7pNbIcp0Ye0/видео.html
He is not like following the tempo exactly and the duration of certain musical notes are different than in the transcriptions.
Saludos
@@osocargm if you read my comment CAREFULLY....you will see i used the the "obscene Liberties"....not meaning that all liberties are obscene, just describing liberties which are EXCESSIVE, and not even having musical value.
We have a language problem?
@@leonpetersen7346 Idon't think so I was just making an additional comment.
I agree. We need more recordings of new interpretations for these masterpieces without the excessive tenutos and unecessary speed.
You play differently than any other guitarists. I love your playing. You feel the beat exactly how it should be felt.
Effortless and unique performance of this piece, beautiful!
barrios is damn hard. amazing playing keeping a good waltz tempo.
Nice playing. But wow! the base tones in the guitar are beautiful. Anybody know what he is playing?
A Julia Wenzel guitar
Wow! This is so different from the williams version I'm used to, but I feel it's much more faithful to the 'waltz'-ness of the piece. It sounds more as though it is written for an orchestra with a conductor pushing and pulling the tempo and dynamics much more expressively. Bravo!
GREAT PERFORMANCE!
Being a piece of Barrios i would like to say this in Spanish: este caballero hace un trabajo extraordinario, logra ina fluidez y una elegancia notables en una pieza q es bastante compleja. Muchas gracias :D
One of the best guitarist in this channel!
Mangore!!!! de Paraguay para el mundo
Lovely interpretation of an amazing piece from great Agustín Barrios.
I can't walk down the sidewalk without making a mistake this guy ripped it from start to finish like he was breathing. So natural and fantastically done!
your play suggested young Alirio Díaz.
So beautifully played. Less of the mellow-kind sentiment but with strong emotions. It is good that you have an interpretation that is truly personal and non generic but also works great.
When you gotta hit the note just right you're literally gasping for air. Wonderful playing done here. A musician at his finest.
EXCELLENT ARTIST...EXCELLENT FEELINGS...SO DYNAMIC PLAYER...I WISH YOU MY BEST...!
Bravissimo, bello, so beautiful, felt celestial after all the protests in USA.
Sweet, slightly melancholy, and beautiful music and performance.
Bravo.
Raphaël Feuillâtre is simply brillant !
Everything he plays seems to be easy ... But it's an illusion !
This didn’t seem easy to me!
He even had veins popped at 2:17 lol wym easy
Genius of Barrios executed perfectly by Raphael. Full of joy that a waltz should have.
This is by far my favourite interpretation of this piece! So beautiful!
Very nice playing and beautiful tone! :-)
The most beautiful and appropriate tone I have heard in a long time!
what is going on in the background @2:02 !?!?! lol
I play classical guitar and I keep coming back to this video. 👍🏻
Bravo !! Mangore's soul valse piece with good touchable performance!!
I used to play this, and I have heard it so many times in concert. Never so good.
You used to play this in your head or in real life?
@@Mrfabby1972 You're so funny Erik!! Yes I did play this, arthritis in my hands makes some of the Barrios pieces very hard to play, but I still have No.4 in my repertoire.
@@allan2098 Real life or in your head... What a Moron.
As if its so unbelievable that you might have studied the guitar..
Sorry to gear about the hand problems it must be stressful.
I've just started learning this piece wish me luck my friend..
And yep Walz no. 4 is really nice as well, (my next study piece of Barrios)
@@mrg6185 I don't take the nasty comments seriously, but I do take the kind ones serious, thanks.
3 is ok if you have big supple hands, its got some great stretches! No luck needed, you will kill it G!
@@allan2098 Thanks I appreciate that,
I'm working on it now as it happens, watching different versions at half speed, and almost nailed it now 👍.
Yeah there's some stretches involved for sure but if I can manage it to a reasonable degree, I'm sure a lot of people can also with enough practice and patience.
Barrios is a genius and a joy to play.
Thanks my friend
Absolutely superb playing. I love the way the waltz feel is really brought out.
Bravo Raphaël c'est absolument superbe !!!
What a great! Rhythm and tone are out of this world
Song's hard level . 10/10 . Amazing nice , hard song . U played well .Congratulations .
This is, by far, the best interpretation i've ever heard of this piece. Thanks Master!
Dieu que tu joues bien l’ami. T’écouter me rend juste heureux
The tone of this guitar is still immature. But i think tone is just fine. Thanks Raphaël Feuillâtre for played. I listen with love :)
Hello! How is this guitar different from the acoustic guitars that other musicians use? Thanks!
I see what you mean. To me also the tone is a tad on the damp side... In the beginning a bit unsatisfactory to me. But for a cedar it is under good control and quiet colorful. I wouldn't want to use it for an unplugged concert, seems hard to get the full bodied sound, especially in the distance. But maybe for a nice recording?...
In my experience cedar doesn't open up over time as spruce tops do. But it is also my experience, that cedar has to be controlled a lot to get a dense and noble sound. So respect for the maker.
@@yengsabio5315 classical guitars have nylon strings and wider, shorter necks. Pegs face backwards rather than sideways.
I have a chair I recently acquired, I think it’s most comfortable for my playing; seeing this young gentleman just confirmed that_ Sometimes stepping out of convention works for you, not necessarily for everyone but you have to find what makes you fly, and find your own magic carpet! 😇😇😇😇😇😇😇
Yes bro baba nam kevalam
Cinematic and how poetic
one of my favorite and not too difficult Barrios peaces. Wonderful rendition, inspired me to dig it out again. I use different fingerings, closer to the nut, but you are well ahead of me.
Unique interpretation! It's so "Raphael". Nice 💙 👌👌
Felicidades
Absolutely brilliant, though I heard some "guttural" noises that didn't sound very nice.
Let’s hear you play it bro
Utterly splendid Sir.
What a version! holy smokes!
Beautiful Barrios piece. Fabulous performance 👏👏🎶
Absolutely brilliant performance!
gorgeous.. It's a good comment ✌️👏👏👏
Magistral interpretación de una obra de arte.
Brilliant!
Masterful playIng.
Unbelievable! I'm just now taking up classical guitar as a retirement hobby. Watching your performance I had my jaw open the entire time.
me too!
Bela técnica jovem muito bom.Lindo Demais.
From Paraguay.. Bravo!!
Precise , effortless performance! I can feel the music in your playing.
amazing. thank you for sharing
good
Really nice! I think this is the most unique take I've heard on this particular piece.
It's a waltz, and he's playing it like one, which is uncommon among classical guitarists.
@@DenianArcoleo yep. It definitely says something that not overdoing it is a unique approach
Bravo
Superb! Thank you.
Outstanding!
I like this interpretation the best
Beautiful! The best version i ever Heard. But i give thanks to other players, because it Will be nothing if everybody plays only in the same tempo and "how it must to be".
This gives a plus over the others.
Superbe musicianship! Bravo!
One of the best guitarists...
Excellent ! Un brillant guitaristes et un excellent musicien. Bravo!
Mangore el Chopin de la guitarrra
Magnificent !
Just wow 😲
i am lost for words how to commend this superb playing. Brilliant!!!!!!!
Thank you so much. Very well played. A little too loud in the midparts, but no problem. I know how hard it is.
Superbly played! Bravo!
Excellent. I totally enjoyed your work Raphael. I really think GSI should just give you that guitar.
BEST, ever I've heard
Great job thank you sir
Excellent!
I don't know what's more impressive, the achingly beautiful interpretation or that he makes it look so effortless.
Wooooowww!! What a personality, what a precision! You go, man!!! Looking forward for more videos from you!!! Bravo!
Beautiful
Legendary guitarist
Best version I've heard so far. Vals tempo is on point. I believe the original version by Barrios should have sounded close to that interpretation by Raphael
Bravissimo
Insane, awesome, perfect. Super great job 🎵🎶
2:00 this part is so Hard to play :(
Incroyable merci beaucoup
