This has got to be one of the most underrated comedies in history. Some absolutely priceless moments. Its also a very telling commentary on people's quest for acceptance, both for self approval and money.
OMGGGGG! I just got my life tonight! I was literally on the phone with my mom reminiscing on my childhood memories, and this movie came up and I was saying how much I wanted to see it... took a gamble and searched it on RUclips and FOUND IT!!! Talk about #nostalgia! The 90’s were the best‼️
I disagree...there are so many gems dropped in this movie we sometimes overlook them...yes his sister was there but they portrayed her in a negative light... someone that didn't believe in his dreams and belittled his efforts...this what people outside our community thinks...that we don't encourage our youth in their dreams...it took awhile before she started to believe in him...this movie a cultural satire and to bring light to selling out "soul "to the masses
After watching this movie, I can appreciate and understand TC Carson taking a stand when producers demanded he change certain aspects of his persona during production on Living Single. I hope TC finally receives 💯 fold and more of what was taken from him and prevented from making. I hope for high ratings and success on your new show on Bounce💞
Before the 2017 movie Get Out, there was Livin' Large! I remember this back in '91 as a six-year-old kid watching Slick Rick's music video I Shouldn't Have Done It where it shown the parts from that movie. No one ever talk about Livin' Large. T.C. (Terrence) Carson is the realest acting veteran that keeps it real to this day. The movie is so underrated, but the best movie ever which has a real excellent message. Never Sell Your Soul and Yourself To The Glitz and Glamorous Around The Media. Livin' Large was originally known as 'The Tapes of Dexter Jackson'. Afrika Baby Bam from the Jungle Brothers crew.....He tells the real deal from the first to the last. Other than that, I am getting this movie on DVD this June of this year. Real talk.
Took it way back with this one. I remember being slightly scared of Dexter as the white guy on the tv screen when i was younger and watched this movie. I knew it was him but something about the white makeup but hearing his voice scared me a little, lol.
DWonder heck yea I remember having the vhs tape in a thrift store didn't know what to really expect but ended up loving it, and yea that was Smokey Robinson when he turned white they used his face on oOoOo baby baby

Everything in the world is designed to keep the black man down. Fight the power ✊ I’m being sarcastic if you didn’t know. The corporate world fucks everyone over, everyone is ruthless. Nobody gets off Scot free
@@mauricegrant9229 There is no "being black". Sure black people face closed doors more then white people on average but there are always other doors opening. The key is not to quit and believe in yourself and have patience for the results. If there is one trait I see in the black community that holds them back monetarily its a lack of impulse control. This causes them to buy on a whim without planning, live in places they can't really afford, buy cars new that depreciate with high interest rates so fast, spend money on their hair so frequently it drains their bank account....its all a fear of appearing poor. This charade keeps them poor. If you drive through some wealthy areas of cities its surprising how many average looking cars you see in driveways of houses that cost a small fortune. A car depreciates quite fast. A house appreciates slowly. So they spend their money on appreciating assets. Which do you think benefits them more over time? The black community is quite resilient but being independent also has a side effect of not trusting others and their education. But we need to learn from others because we live in a modern world that rewards perseverance and patience and harshly punishes impulsive spending. Look at most of the largest companies in the world and you'll see most profit from the spending mistakes of the public. Processed and junk food, coffee, clothing, so many things we buy without thinking, things we don't need. Ask yourself how much you spend on certain things in your life and decide if you would spend a year of those expenses if you had to prepay for it. A $3 cappuccino x 365 is about $1100 a year. Would you pay that if you had to, to get it today? First of all most of you don't even have $1100 saved. But if you did common sense would put the brakes on this quickly. In determining how much something really costs do this calculation. It will help a lot in putting things in perspective and control unnecessary spending. Spending that most assuredy does not make us happier in any way at all. If anything it just supports our insecurities, masking our problems.
@ my brothers and sisters, whenever what we perceive as an ignorant Caucasian comment appears, we're quick to respond with most times negativity and sometimes intellect. Please remember a clown can only perform when there is an audience. And to grab a quick quote from Sean Carter "Never argue with a fool, because people from a distance doesn't know who's who"
I remember watching this when I was a kid and White Dexter freaked me out, probably because I didn't know it was TC Carson in makeup, like really bad. Now it's not even a thing, but that kind of scared me, and I was a horror movie kid.
You're programming tried to reject the message. Fear what you don't understand. It got me to but for some reason I understood the message then it came one of my favorite movies. Going to show it to my son.

This Movie always hit Home Hard, because this is the same story of many successful black people. They end up having to sale out in order to become “successful”
This movie really is timeless. A message that still needs to be shared.❤
Throughout the movie you can actually point out the red flags that Dexter ignored.
