The towering achievement in this final was the remarkable dancing by Kirill and Valeria. Both of them danced excellently and brilliantly. They owned the night. They were the clear winners. And should have won. The weak performance by Dorin and Marina in all dances, underlined the fact that Kirill and Valeria were indeed best on the floor.
I also noticed that Dorin and Marina looked unusually weak. Their dancing did not look like champions' performance at all. Maybe 3rd place, not higher, judging by this video. A lot may depend on how a couple is filmed, at which moments and angles, but I have an overall impression that the quality of their dancing somewhat decreased. Kirill and Valeria, on the contrary, have improved their dancing considerably, their communication with each other is much better now and they looked really very good. Partly, I guess, it was because at this competition they really, maybe for the first time, were feeling as one team that had to struggle together and they were very happy to be there - not many places nowadays where they could be welcomed as a Russian couple. This is rather sad, but I guess, it was one of the factors that also helped them to produce their best performance. It's not easy to dance knowing how many people are against you. But they did, and very successfully. (I was actually shocked reading some answers to Valeria's instagram post about this event - some people congratulated them, but there was also so much hatred in many comments, I'd never seen anything like that before). I wish them success and hope they will become better and better.
@Мария Фомина i agree that D and M didn’t look like the absolute winners. Sasha and Klemen, whom I also like very much as a couple, looked devoid of their usual energy and spark too, despite Sasha’s outstanding dress and grooming.
