I love my Pyr... As far as little known facts - the Great Pyrenees has one of the strongest bite pressures of any dog. A Rottweiler has a bite pressure of around 350 pounds per square inch while a male Pyr has a bite pressure of 500-700 pounds per square inch. My female Pyr (who is on he small side) has twisted the links of our chain link fence with her jaws, because she wanted to hunt down a coyote which she had chased away.

That is wild! We knew they were strong, but not quite that strong! Makes these gentle giants even more impressive

There is a recent RUclips video about a large male, named Casper, who was guarding a flock of sheep when they were attacked by eleven coyoyes. He killed eight of them and chased the final three off. No sheep was hurt. He was a bit beaten up but survived and will be retired from guard dog duties.
Yet, my great Pyreneese is absolutely gentle around kids. We trust her with my friend's three daughters from toddler on up. I have had large dogs that would accept kids, but my Pyr genuinely loves to be around these three little girls and is exceptonally gentle with them!
Oh yes, my Pyr female is a rescue.@@BellaandNikola

This is wonderful and I thoroughly enjoyed it. Working dogs are a blessing, and these look like great boys and girls. And they looked very happy that you joined them outside. Can't wait for the documentary to come out, this needs more views!

    Unega Cherokee origin means "white".

One of the founders of Unega is Cherokee and they named the rescue "Unega" meaning White Wolf! Referencing how the dogs look like white wolves.

neither of your documentaries were really documentaries. just y’all getting photos of the great pyrenees. if you wanted a real documentary you’d go to a farm with working great pyrenees doing what they were bred to do. guard flocks of sheep and goats. great pyrenees are livestock guardians and you didn’t mention this once.

Hi! These are just the behind the scenes and making of the documentary we are working on! We are scheduling interviews with ranchers, politicians, owners and more. All these videos on RUclips are more to bring people along the journey as we work on this film, not the film itself!
