Are you using the latest version of the Multi-Protocol module (1.3.4.0)? Looks like you have internal and external modules. 30 meters with the airplane almost on the ground is a long distance. You will get better reception with the airplane in the air. If you have a Spektrum transmitter, monitor the 'fades' and 'holds' in telemetry. You might be surprised at the number of fades (frame loss count) in Spektrum (un-announced). Bottom line: "Only Holds Matter". Lemon receivers are great! Eagle makes a 6 axis gyro that has stabilization; try it.

Hi Garry, thank you for your very helpful information. I have the latest firmware installed in the Radiomaster. It has the capability of adding an external module, but I haven't done that yet. I have received repeated warnings while in the air using the Radiomaster TX with Spektrum receivers, and at relatively close ranges - perhaps 50m or so. It may be that they are 'fades,' but I dont get them using the Lemon RX receivers.

The warnings are due to Spektrum having fly by telemetry. Turn off warnings in telemetry on the transmitter and the problem is solved. The signal from the transmitter to the receiver is not affected. This problem has been raised many times, and the answer is always the same.

OK, I'm all ears, but it's still not all adding up. I was getting some warnings when the plane was over the landing field, maybe not close enough to throw a rock and hit it, but pretty close to a 'fly by' position. And I was getting those warnings walking down the driveway, 30 - 40 metres away. On top of that, I'm a bit wary of just turning off and ignoring a warning. It reminds me a time when I was flying a full size plane, taking off. The instructor was telling me to pull back farther on the yoke to have a higher angle of climb. Makes sense from the standpoint of protecting yourself from a potential engine failure. But the stall warning buzzer was going off, and I questionned his instruction. His response was to pull the fuse from the stall warning circuit!
Another thought. Given that the transmitter is showing a signal level for signal strength, doesn't that mean it is actually receiving telemetry? There's a different warning when it's "telemetry lost."

@RCJim it's normal, I use Spektrum rxs all the time and not one crash. Just turn off the sound.

If you go and research RF fields and cones your eyes will see. Some of the cheapest best transmitters produce a doughnut shaped transmission field shape.

Yes, I have seen those. However, even when I'm holding the transmitter so that the 'fat' part of the donut is directed towards the plane, I still am getting weak signal warnings when using the Spektrum receivers with the Radiomaster transmitter. That is not happening with the Lemon RX receivers, regardless of how I am holding the transmitter.

Easy fix get rid of (buull), sorry I almost threw up, trying to say, spektrum --and buy Xpress LRS.
But it’s your money your hobby do what you like.

I will eventually get the xpress LRS module, but in the meantime I have a lot of models with Spektrum receivers. What is your preferred stabilization solution when using ELRS?

@@RCJim I thought all you hardcores Hated all the Newbie stabilization crap.

To tell the truth, the first time I flew with stabilisation was a handful of flights about a year ago (before bypassing the FMS Reflex module), then didn't do that again until a month ago or so. Apart from trying to keep up with the times, several guys at our club have suggested that I would be crazy to fly my new FA-18 90mm ducted fan jet without it. Furthermore, I've got a small jet and a small Pitts Special that are really sensitive to just about anything. So, I'm giving it a go, and sharing what I learn about it with others. My objective will certainly be to keep the stabilisation settings low such that you don't even know that it's happening, and do not use the "Safe" mode at all.
