I find your tutorials to be crazy awesome. You are like the Bob Ross of quilting...make a little boo boo? Just stitch around that boo boo and make it a happy little part of the design. I love it!
I hadn’t looked at it like that but being a bob ross lover too, you’re 100% right. That’s why I love Angela’s tutorials, she never makes a mistake, just a potential echo. *wink*
I love your quilting videos including of course The Midnight Quilt Show. One video I'd love to see is Graffiti Quilting- you know where you throw a whole bunch of different designs together just blending them in- you include it in your free motion meandering book but would love to see you actually quilting it. I've tried it but seem to get stuck on what to do next. Love you girl you do such a great job. Wendy Quilts
This was the very BEST kind of teaching! THANK YOU THANK YOU for teaching us how to get out of mistakes without losing our minds. You are so right about calmly echoing you way out of problems. You are the best sweetie pie! Hugs, Deb Quiltbeeme
Just finished a quilt where my final border was like the picture frame so the wood grain was perfect. Knowing how to correct some common pitfalls gave me the confidence to dive right in and it turned out better than I could have dreamed. Thanks for all of your videos
thank you for this video - you covered all the mistakes I have made but I didn't know how to correct them and you are so right, when it is done you do not notice the mistakes. I will try woodgrain yet again but this time I won't panic.....
Thank you Angela for this wonderful video. The woodgrain pattern is so beautiful and your tutorial is excellent. The best part is taking advantage of the mistakes and making the quilting even more beautiful and organic.
Thanks for your great instruction on this wood grain design and the awesome tips, especially to quilt the design horizontally on the longarm. This will be perfect on my next project a with pieced buck deer!! Wish I could peek over your shoulder every day!
Just made a steam punk quilt for my nephew in Alaska for his graduation, think i am going to try this wood grain on it, it will look nice Oh will practice on a small quilt first
Brilliant! I just live under a rock because I’ve never seen woodgrain quilting before and based on this little glimpse of it, I love it and I think I might actually be able to do it! Yay Angela!
I have always wondered how the wood grain look was achieved, thank you for the tutorial and even more for showing us how to fix the most common mistakes. I am enjoying your how-to videos!
ok used it on a practice quilt and it turned out pretty good, biggest mistake was I used what I had for a backing and it was not good but I finished it and the nursing home will love it
Was planning to try this design on my current quilt (saw it in the book and loved it). Now I am feeling far more confident to just get stuck in and do it. Thank you.
Hey, I watched this video a week ago and decided to try the design, because it looks easy. And sure enough I made that first mistake you described. Had to watch it again to see what the hell I'm doing wrong. :-D Thanks for a great comprehensive tutorial!! I love your videos.
hello Angela, was wondering if you can do a tutorial on merandering? I try it and some how I end up with straight lines not smooth curving lines. thanks love your tutorials as always.
Love this video. I have recently started quilting on a long arm that I rent time on at my local quilt shop. It is so much fun. However, it is your videos like this that are most helpful. I look forward to more with different patterns to try. I also have a few of your books that I love. They have great ideas and easy to follow tips. Thank you for helping me to become a better quilter.
I have some questions. So I’ve been quilting now for about 5 years and I’ve either done stitch in the ditch or I’ve tied off my quilts. I’m really wanting to learn free motion but I’m really “scared” about doing it. My questions are 1: where in a quilt do you start quilting? Like do you start in the middle of a block or do you start on a corner of the quilt? Or maybe you start off the quilt? 2: what do you do when your bobbin runs out? How do you pick up where your left off? 3: how do you know to space your lines in the quilting? 4: if you’re quilting a pattern, for example you are “echoing” how do you go to quilt an area that you’ve past, but not quilted, to continue quilting without having to stop and start? 5: how do you know when you’ve quilted enough? See, now you know why I’m scared to free motion quilt.
Your rulers arrived today can’t wait to try them😀 I found one of you quilting books on my shelf with your videos I can only get better. ☺️ Thank you Angela
I really enjoy your videos and have learned quite a bit. Would you do a video or Midnight Quilt show on quilting an applique quilt? I do lots of applique and would like to see how you design your quilting around all the applique and also the borders.
Thank you for explaining things so well! Could you do. Video that demonstrate what patterns work best on different prints of fabric? I’m not sure when Thank you do big quilting or smaller. Thanks!
Great tutorial. Common sense really but when you are in the middle of quilting and you make a mistake it is so easy to unpick. I should really go with the flow.
Vickie J I would really like to see how you would do the woodgrain on your sewing machine and do it vertically. I love your videos and have just bought your new design tools and cannot wait to try then. Almost have a quilt top in completed to try them out !!
This is such a great tutorial! Thank you! I would love to see a similar one for fixing common mistakes attempting to do feathers. I am terrible at feathers! They look completely atrocious and dont even remotely resemble a feather by the time I get to the end of a single feather LOL!
Thanks Angela I don’t know if the foot is adjustable but not getting slipped stitches, now I just need to get the shape of the pattern right, it really is not as easy as it looks you make it look so easy but I will keep trying thanks
Absolutely love all your videos. What would be the best way to quilt the wood grain on an entire quilt on a domestic machine? Example, on the fantasy fox design.
Your tutorials are so helpful. I have so many tops done but the quilting intimidates me. How do I know which quilting motif to use and where to start? I know I keep putting it off due to being overwhelmed. 🤔
I love watching you. You make it look so easy! I had a question about this pattern. If y’all u are using it on a long arm, would you go all the way across the quilt with the first wavy line and work back and forth, or take a section at a time?
I am so glad you posted this. I found a wood grain batik i have been wanting for a project, but this quilting design will work for what i want as well. Does it help to draw out the design first? To get the hang of the flow of the design.
This is just awesome!. . .I'm going to make a practice sandwich just to play with this! Thanks so much! I recieved 2 of your rulers. .must get the other 2. . love to see more designs I can use those with!!
compliment for your videos. They are very effective to learn. Can you please teach "meandering". The result looks easy but there must be a "system" to learn it?! Regards from Germany
This design is my next attempt on a few bags. I would like to know. When using a sewing machine, what speed would you set the stitch? I have a Janome MC8900QCP. Thanks for any helpful tips.
Something about this makes me think of the song (based on the Winston Churchill quite) that goes “if you’re going through hell, keep on going, don’t slow down, if you’re scared don’t show it, you might get out before the devil even knows you’re there.” 😂 But it makes sense. I need to force myself to keep going when I make mistakes, fill in the best I can and focus on the big picture.
Thanks Angela, have your book and seeing it makes it al click. I'd like to know open (negative) spaces on blocks EG: applique is the star but need quilt and not take away for the design. I know echoing can work but other ideas would be great.
Yes, DSM work on this. BTW, Slim really gets a work out at my house. Love that guy! Still need more practice with all your ruler set, but I’m using them on quilt blocks...best practice. Thank you for all your help. Many of us do not have Long Arm machines you are such a wonderful teacher.
I am new to quilting and the long arm machine seems like mosts productive and fun way to go but how do you afford one! How is the best way to get one....is there ever anyone selling theirs as they move to a better or larger one? I have a Brother, says quilting but I have come to realize one important feature is space between needle and machine and this one is small. I can't even practice Free Motion quilting on it very well. I want jump right to a long arm machine but not even sure I will be good at quilting! Suggestions on what is best next step?
I'd love to see a really detailed approach to beginner feathers - drills to practice the shapes, how to approach them, marking maybe and tricks to make them fit round corners/in different shapes. Maybe then my feathers won't look like cabbages!
Thanks for that I’m just trying free motion on my machine, having problems with the foot of my machine, the one that came with the machine seemed to sit high on the quilt so I purchased another one and it is the same is it meant to be like that or should it be on the material the stitching seems to be fine
Is the foot adjustable? You might be able to lower it. As long as your stitches look fine, I'd leave it. If it's too high, you'll get skipped stitches. If it's too low, it will be hard to move the quilt. Hope that helps!
*wink*
@@Sheyviolet EXACTLY!! I
Thanks for the part on common errors. My knots tend to slant. Now I know to practice keeping the point on each end of the knot straight.
I love your quilting videos including of course The Midnight Quilt Show. One video I'd love to see is Graffiti Quilting- you know where you throw a whole bunch of different designs together just blending them in- you include it in your free motion meandering book but would love to see you actually quilting it. I would like some ideas on how you would quilt a log cabin.
This was the very BEST kind of teaching! THANK YOU THANK YOU for teaching us how to get out of mistakes without losing our minds. You are so right about calmly echoing you way out of problems. You are the best sweetie pie! Hugs, Deb Quiltbeeme
I don't know how you manage perfect timing on your videos! I'm making a quilt for a woodworker and was struggling with just this, thank you!
"Nobody ever became a better quilter by ripping it out"... Words to live by!

A quilting design that stumps me is the rope. Love the woodgrain.
And mine that throws me is the wishbone. Aaarrggghhhh!!

I've been wanting to try this design for awhile now. Thanks Angela!
Great advice Angela! Thanks for the many hours of enjoyment you give to all of us. We really appreciate your time and expertise.
Terrific!! Thanks, Angela. You are so encouraging- definitely a Super Star teacher.
ok used it on a practice quilt and it turned out pretty good, biggest mistake was I used what I had for a backing and it was not good but I finished it and the nursing home will love it
Amo os seus trabalhos de Patchwork e Quilting Angela.

Dear Angela, your books and your tutorials gave me the strength to start fmq and I love it. Thank you
Great video! This will help me out on many fill in type patterns! I am getting interested in feathers, if you have time for that lesson. Thanks.

Wow, I would love to try this. I just received a Baby Lock DestinyII.

Thanks for the very helpful video. I love all your free motion longarm videos, so the more you do, the better. I learn from all of them.
I absolutely love your talent. Thank you 🙋💖💖
Thanks Angela!!! That was great. Wonderful design! You make it look so easy. Now I just need to give it a go.
Great tutorial Angela! Does this fix apply to other all over designs? Could you please show us some more? Please! ♥
Wonderful tute I am working on a bookshelf quilt and this is perfect.
Fantastic tutorial as always! I always learn so much by watching your videos. You are such confidence builder!

Thank you for this demo. I really enjoy seeing your ease with the process! Yes I agree ripping out is not an option!
Tell me where to get you book. The one for long arm quilting
Thanks for your tips...you are so helpful. I love watching your videos...I'm learning so much! You are so encouraging.
Absolutely love all your videos. What would be the best way to quilt the wood grain on an entire quilt on a domestic machine? Example, on the fantasy fox design.
I learned this design from your very first book and I love quilting wood grain! It has an irregularity that catches my mistakes - so forgiving!

Your tutorials are so helpful. I have so many tops done but the quilting intimidates me. How do I know which quilting motif to use and where to start? I know I keep putting it off due to being overwhelmed. 🤔
Awesome! Definitely going to give woodgrain a go. Thanks.
love it! I want to use wood grain on my Fancy Forest quilt.
So simple but so effective! Thanks Angela.
I love your videos and ideas...I would love some ideas on quilting half square triangle quilts and ones with stars. Many thanks Jan x

Loved this video. Have all your books but how to videos really help as well. Keep up the great work.
Thank you Angela. I do a lot of sports quilts. I would love to do footballs. Can you show me how?
Gotta give this a try, now that you've made it seem simple:)) Thanks GB
This is just awesome!. . .I'm going to make a practice sandwich just to play with this! Thanks so much! I recieved 2 of your rulers. .must get the other 2. . love to see more designs I can use those with!!
I would love to see you teachMcTavishing!
Thank you so much for showing this quilting design 💖
compliment for your videos. They are very effective to learn. Can you please teach "meandering". The result looks easy but there must be a "system" to learn it?! Regards from Germany
Super helpful! Thank you!!
i would really love to watch an entire quilt put together from start to completely finish??
Whew! Now I know I can do that! Thank you!
Love these tutorials! Question What would be a good design for beginners? Help
I would love tips on quilting larger scale designs using a domestic!
Amanda that would be really helpful. What a great idea
Me too Amanda :0)
Agreed. I find I always make my designs too small and then it takes too long to quilt.
I’d like to see more masculine patterns like the wood grain, flames, topography, that can be free motion quilted edge to edge across a quilt.
Love all your videos, would love suggestions for what to quilt on a log cabin
Me too Dawn !!
This design is my next attempt on a few bags. I would like to know. When using a sewing machine, what speed would you set the stitch?
I have a Janome MC8900QCP. Thanks for any helpful tips.
Loved video very precise and to the point made understanding this easy!, tx
Great video. Really helpful tips. Thank you sooooo much!

How should I practice feathers? Are some types easier than others? Which should I start with?

I would like to see how you quilt on a longarm AND a home machine when doing the same design...sort of like in your and Christina's book.
I LOVE that book

Hi, wanted to let you know that I have seen good used long arm machines for sale on E-Bay. Good luck.. ☺️
Great video!
Great tutorial. Can we see the quilts on the rack behind you please?
I enjoy your machine quilting tutorials! How about a fleur de lis design ⚜️
Love your longarm demos! I need help with my longarm ☺

Thank you this tutorial is very helpful
Супер! Спасибо, Анджела!

Great tips, I’ll try it!
I love your designs, but I have to ask what machine are you using please?
Love this especially the solutions to problems I have had. Thanks.

What thread are you using in the bobbin?
Thanks Angela
