Just to clarify should you invest when the news drops or the event shown in the news happens?
You mean trade? Invest is long term (years or so) sooo if you're looking for trading the news I recommend doing it at least 30 minutes after the news drop to avoid slippage and high spreads.
I would advise never trading news events. Sometimes, despite the best macro-economic knowledge, spikes happen and blow accounts
Just get into the habit of looking at the relevant currency pair when a news event happens. (5-15 minute charts I would say. 15 minutes will look a little clearer, though.) After witnessing how the market reacts to news events several times, you will begin to form an understanding (and most likely your own strategy ideas).
Some people like to trade _with_ the news, event. Others _against_ the news. Most traders will typically _avoid trading during the news,_ since news events can completely change the price action pattern and structure. However, the various time-frames can be impacted differently. Some look at high time frame results, others at smaller time frame results. There's all sorts of ways to make use of news. The trick is to get good at using the approach which makes most sense to you.
Most importantly, keep watching how it plays out again and again.

Sometimes, as in life, nothing ever comes out as expect. Sometimes predicting news is like predicting the weather. Unpredictable at times
Maybe you missed a support level
Yes, there can be other factors in the way of the price action playing out as you anticipated. You have to take _all_ factors into account. Maybe there were strong resistance levels. Maybe the trend exhausted itself. Maybe there are other conflicting news events. Etc., etc.
As with all things trading, news is just another factor in the equation. Quite infuriating, huh? 😅😉
