The best era of music for me was 1981 - 1986...largely in part to MTV introducing obscure artists & music thru videos & so many great songs from movie soundtracks!! 1984 was probably the best year in that era! Oh the memories...I was 20 then & not a care in the world
@@iMusicRepublic Thriller hit the UK singles chart in late 1983 and was still big at the start of 1984,so I guess it can count for both years over here! After The Girl is Mine with Paul McCartney near the late end of 1982,MJ scored a number 1 on this side of the Atlantic with Billie Jean in early 1983. That was followed by Beat It,Wanna Be Starting Something and then Say Say Say with Paul McCartney which ran almost alongside Thriller. PYT and State of Shock with the Jacksons and Mick Jagger fell just short of the Top 10 at opposite ends of summer 1984,and there was also a couple of old early 70s songs of his,Farewell My Summer Love and Girl You're So Together. I got to see Michael Jackson live at Wembley Stadium with my girlfriend in 1992. It was awesome.

Dear Music Republic, I also forgot to tell you that I was wondering do you supposed you can do Top 100 songs of 1968,since I forgot to add it onto the request music list below? Thank You! Love,Rebekah Garrison
Dear Music Repulic, Do you supposed you can do any of these years of 100 best songs? 1960's: 1965 1967 1970's: 1971 1972 1973 1974 1975 1980's: 1985 1986 1987 1988 1989 Thank you! Love Rebekah Garrison
A lot of my favourites were there but it's annoying that 'Dancing In The Dark' was muted whilst garbage such as 'When Doves Cry', 'Purple Rain', 'Ghostbusters' and the Frankie Goes To Hollywood crap weren't.
An ok list. Just ok. But a lot of great and superior songs were missed. Such as summer of 69, run to you, it's only love, somebody, heaven by Bryan Adams. Money for nothing, walk of life by dire straits. Walking on sunshine by Katrina and the waves. I want to know what love is by foreigner. Like a virgin, material girl by madonna. Doesn't really matter by platinum blonde. ROCK you by helix etc
Summer of 69, Money for Nothing, Walk of Life and Walking on Sunshine were all only released in 1985. The Madonna songs mentioned reached the peak of their popularity in 1985 as well. Doesn't really matter by Platinum Blonde, on the other hand was released in January 1983.
All the Bryan Adams song you listed were released on the Reckless album. Which came out in 1984, however all of its singles reached their peak popularity in 1985.
@@iMusicRepublic Out of all those songs mentioned only Like a Virgin was in the UK charts by the tail end of 1984,though I Want to Know What Love Is just broke through at the very end of the year, jumping up from the depths below into the Top 40 at number 26 on the Christmas chart and reaching number 1 several weeks later in January 1985. Walk of Life wasn't a hit over here until February 1986! The rest were 1985 though I'm not sure about the Platinum Blonde one because it didn't chart in the UK,or if it did it was somewhere well below the Top 40 and I'm not sure if I heard it at the time so it may not have got enough promotion over here. It's an interesting list you've put together again, and I enjoyed viewing it on my meandering wander down memory lane: the majority I knew well from back then but a fair number I didn't,they probably didn't get a single release over here but stayed as album tracks. I could probably put together a very large and fairly eclectic list of my own to add to the 100 here!
+Michele Mazullo Hey, I'm actually currently working on 1978 which is almost complete! As per your request, I'll get working on 1976 as soon as I'm done! Expect it in 2-4 months, these videos take a good while to complete!
