- We are at the south end of CP52 in Cornwall on the Conrail River Line Subdivision, where we see CSX Train Q271, an empty auto rack freight from Doremus Auto Yard to Chicago, as it sits on the main just south of the signal. The reason it is sitting here is due to the fact that a train in the siding, CSX Q439, a manifest mixed freight to Hamlet in North Carolina, has gone in the hole due to air problems, and the conductor is walking between the main and the siding. Also, the train behind Q439, CSX L417, a late section of Q417, a mixed freight to Pavonia Yard in Camden, New Jersey, is coming off the main up in Newburgh at CP55 and has orders to fall in behind Q439, but not to pass MP54, to keep a safe distance behind Q439. Both trains can fit in the siding. Anyway, before Q271 starts to move again, I guess they needed some extra power. In this shot, we see the conductor as he starts up AC44CW 141. Enjoy the side view of the start-up process, which includes the priming of the engine to the actual cranking of the engine itself. Also, enjoy the sounds from the 141, which include the GE chug and the well known GE "Whoop!" that comes with it. Q271 consists of AC44CW 395, C40-8W 7823, and AC44CW 141 with 83 empty auto racks. just wanted to compliment you on the added detail you provided with the video. i really enjoy learning what circumstances are affecting the action.
Very informative description, thank you. There is a train in Cornwall that idles all night long without moving, and this clears things up a lot.
And the woosh Is the pop off Valve releasing water and pressure from the air tanks
The beautiful GE "whoop"

Truly these GE's are far quieter than EMD's.
That bell sounds just like our school bell
Awe man good vid. Really
Keep hearing the "whooooooooop" every maybe 5 minutes, and then a whoosh what exactly is that? Any reason why these trains idle by all night long?
That whomp sound is the GE air compressor to set the air for the brakes and other parts that needs it.
NewWay RL Rail Enthusiast its also an air starter
Bleeding off air
That whooping sound get me going …

Ps: in the description he said it was shot on st. Patricks day
If I’m correct, that was taken in a place called Donahue park?
