- Thanks for watching my grocery haul and meal prep! It's Been so HOT! Everywhere, the high desert is no different. We have been trying to beat the heat with no A/C and that means not cooking too much...but today I have some yummy meals to share in addition to a grocery haul. I spent some time in the garden as well harvesting some greens and herbs for the meals.

Everything is expensive, but im finding healthy whole foods (fruits and veggies) are exceedingly high.
The price of grocries are so ridiculous. We arent raising children anymore, just the two of us and don't eat that much. My heart goes out to families trying to feed their children. Hope you are feeling better Katie. I always enjoy your meal ideas.
I only drink 2 cups a day of coffee black I have Jura z10 coffee machine. Beans it. Grinds it up for me and I buy organic beans on line
I live in Georgia and it has been really hot here with the heat index over a 100 every day. Unfortunately at night it only goes down to about 75°. I wish it would be In the 50s. I grew up in Ohio and we did not have air conditioning and it got hot in the summer time and I complained the whole summer. I still complain the whole summer in Georgia. I do not like being hot. I have air conditioning now though.
South East summers are brutal! My dad just visited and he lived the dry heat of this high desert. He kept saying how cool our heat felt compared to Virginia where it’s been brutally hot and humid. It made me appreciate where we live even more. It’s about 60’f now and I have all the windows open cooling the house still at 7am. Bout to shut it up to trap the cool. Thanks for watching!

I loved seeing your garden in this video, it is a great reminder that we can also grow produce to save some money especially with the prices at grocery stores currently.

90 degrees here in WI, plus very high humidity. I like winter, so this is disgusting. I know what you mean about grocery prices. Got under a dozen things on Sat (no meats) and it was $150!
Everyone is making me really appreciate this dry heat. 😅We are fortunate for that. I’ve been using up a good bit of shelf stable foods.
Hey honey. Sorry I haven’t been around. Been dealing with health issues and yeah the heat as well. But I had to stop by because today I was listening to a podcast and one part made me think of you. It was talking about chronic pancreatitis with no healing no matter what you eat etc and the Dr suggested being tested for hpylori, strep, E. coli, and staph as well as parasites although parasites are normally accompanied by issues controlling blood sugar. Maybe you could get tested for those bad bacteria and finally heal. I hate that you are struggling. I love you and much blessings. I hope it helps you find answers and good health

It’s should not be this way! I hope you find some deals or can access a produce connection- we have them in Oregon and they provide free produce in the summer months. 🌻🌻🌻
Grocery prices are out of control sadly! 😢 this summer has been so hot! we plug our crockpot and stuff in outside to keep the heat out of the house.
I need to do more cooking outside!! 😅🌻🌻🌻
@@RowesRising it definitely helps keep the house cooler. I don't have a covered area outside, so I will also put my crockpot in my basement when it's raining.

I was thinking that too! Especially in warmer months. Same in South America- late dinners.
@@RowesRising yes. Especially in warmer months. Here in spain people even eat at 10 pm, especially at restaurants and bars.

We are in Louisiana and could never survive without central air and fans. I can't imagine how hard it must be not to have ac with temps like you are experiencing. I just came in from watering and am cooling off before doing anything else. Except for my grandchildren being out for school, and my daughter and granddaughter in law (teachers), and fresh produce/flowers, I HATE SUMMER! It is miserable in the Deep South and I am counting the days until Fall/Winter! I am 63. I remember going grocery shopping with my mother as a pre-teen and we'd have two carts overflowing and it would be around $100. I recall feeling embarrassed thinking people must think we eat a whole lot. LOL. There were six of us so that sure wasn't too much. Now I can carry two or three plastic grocery bags out of the store with one hand and it's over $100! Sickening. Hopefully we will get some relief soon. Hope you and the kids are feeling better and just want to say that you are an AWESOME mother!!!!!!!!
Colleen that sounds so miserable! I’m grateful we have a dry heat and cool nights. Last night it rained and it’s still in the 70’s at 10am- but normally it would be a lot hotter! Just the clouds keeping it cool. We don’t get very much precipitation here. I hope you can stay cool and enjoy looking forward to fall! 🌻🌻🌻
@@RowesRising It is 8PM CST and the temp is 90 degrees. When I stepped outside a few minutes ago the humidity is so high it makes it hard to breathe. We just stay inside and keep the house cold!

I totally agree with you on the pricing, it is totally ridiculous. It's just me and I spend over a $100.00 for pretty much nothing. No meat at all. So frustrating!

So feeling you! My jaw keeps dropping when I check out with groceries. Even socks and underwear, crazy. I cook from scratch and don't buy a lot of processed stuff and girl, I had company come and had to and was blown away at the cost.

Of course you are going to carry the symptom longer your body is still trying to rebuild your immune system back up and you keep getting slammed with something new and different. I have a household of 4. It is just me and my husband and my two children. Usually I do not comment. I just wanted to assure you we only make it to the very end of the month because of our pantry and the grace of the Lord. I cannot afford a full cart of groceries anymore either. Parents are doing the best with what they can afford. Look after yourself. I hope you feel better soon.

I live in Redmond, Oregon, high desert region, and we are breaking records for heat this year. I’ve been using my air fryer: my slow cooker, and InstantPot a lot! I’m just chilling out as a retired elementary school teacher who has been retired for three years. Your videos take me back to when my kids were growing up. I still cook naturally. Keep up the great work!
Howdy neighbor!! It’s been so hot. It’s better than the humid hot the south east gets- my dad enjoyed the heat wave while he was here- he said it felt cooler than back home.
I've got 3 tomatillos plants growing, my 1st year, hope they turn out good 😎

❤I’m struggling with this 80°-95° humidity here in southern Maine. If it weren’t for the sea breeze I would definitely suffocate to death. I don’t know how people cope south of me or away from the ocean. Is there such a thing as a prairie breeze?
My garden is suffering because I can’t get out there after 7:30am or before 8:30pm. Wicked weather to try to breathe!
Kate that sounds terrible! I’m so sorry it’s insufferable. I know we are lucky here to have the summers we do. Dry hot day heat and cool at nights. It’s not as bad as some places that’s for sure! 🌻🌻🌻
@@RowesRising to fight the mosquitoes spray yourself with a solution of vinegar (just the stuff you use for canning is fine) and rubbing alcohol. The rubbing alcohol will dry it on your skin.
For the bugs on my plants I spray it with a gallon of water with about 2 tablespoons of dish soap.
@katescaringcorner6765 thanks for the tips! I removed the problematic lettuce as it got horribly bitter and I will spray the plants with soapy water to get the rest😅

We went to Aldi's and didn't even get enough to fill the bottom of our cart and spent almost $80.00. 😭😭😭 I am so glad we grow a huge garden, raise our own poultry and hunt. Groceries would break us!
It's been unusually warm here this year but I'm not complaining. This season is already over half way done. It's so short so I cling on to each day, the warmth and all the beauty the summer months brings us.

I remember last year around the 4th that my husband and our youngest 2 got pretty sick. They missed our big family gathering and fireworks. Even warm months bring sickness. So flippin annoying. I swear they release the shit into the air.

My husband had an incident with a Traeger grill and we haven’t grilled since. It blew up in his face… thankful no injuries but it was scary.

Me too Carol! My dad visited for a week and we were struggling with sickness the whole time! It was a wonderful visit with him and nice to have the extra support- we had a kid with an emergency while Aaron was out of town and my dad was a huge help! So nice to have him here. I got a taste of extended family life and it really made me want to be back “home”. Hope you are doing well! I bet it’s hot there?
