In my eyes, Shinsuke is also a "genius". It's very hard for someone to stay diligent and be so self-disciplined. He says he's like that because "it feels good." But for most of us, living in the moment like him is a goal and not something that can be taken for granted. Kita Shinsuke is also a monster.
I love the contrast between this speech and Oikawa's character. Oikawa always wanted to be the best setter but he didn't believe he was born a "genius" like Kageyama and Ushijima so he already knew he wouldn't be able to beat them but he still worked hard trying to push past that. Oikaaa believed you're born a genius and that he could never beat a genius but Kita is saying those geniuses just worked harder than Oikawa, not to say Oikawa didn't work hard but the geniuses worked harder
If average guy does the work on a scale of 1-10 then genius does it on 1-20....but still oikawa which was complaining how he isn't born genius and can't became no 1 was from past later in series we did see how he changed his views on talented people........in the end these two Characters are average but still they're one of the most loved one in series because of their characters 😍
I didn't really read the other comment past a certain point 'cause it seemed spoilery so I'm not sure if I'm wrong or right, but I also love this. In fact, I love that it's only after that final Aoba Johsai v Karasuno match with Oikawa that we get a speech like this. We have no idea if Oikawa's changed or not, but I'd like to think he has somewhat, in that final point. When he was talking about how "talent is something you make bloom, instinct is something you polish." And not only that, but through his actions: the play he made setting from the outside court mid-air... I think that is when Oikawa broke through his walls. That's my guess.
You’re almost there. Oikawa is saying he wasn’t born with the natural talents of a genius. He’s still a genius but he achieved it by working hard even harder than those born as a “genius”. If you remember correctly in the anime they always showed him studying film at night
It was just Oikawa believing in a misconception, later in the series after Coach Ukai advice he believed he too can become a 'Genius' he literally have all the aspect of being one, hence his speech on the later part of the series: “Today might be the chance to let your talent bloom. Maybe tomorrow, the day after, or next year... Maybe even when you're thirty. I'm not sure if physique has anything to do with it, but if you think that it will never come, it probably never will.”
I have been rewatching the series to prepare myself for the movie that's coming out and it's just now I have completely grasped how well this speech opposes everything that Oikawa thought at the beginning of the series.
Ever since finishing this show 3 months ago, I’ve gotten so much better at volleyball and have remained more calm, he’s easily my favourite character in this show
I just wished I had known this when Im 10yrs younger. Well, I dived on that situation before, the realm of geniuses whatsoever, but even so there were still hierarchies, its so deep you cant see the end, and jealousy get the hell out of me thus returning back to surface. The only thing I regreted back then was I was never suffocated but I still return to surface. Such a lame past
At first I didn’t really care about this speech I more played it off but now that I see it from a clearer perspective he’s not just talking about sports he’s talking about reality and that even though there are talented people they work hard to blossom those talents and it doesn’t fully mean that you can’t work hard to get what you want quite the opposite he’s just saying that if you wanna win in life you gotta understand there will always be someone better
Yeah man and I also think that there is no such person without talent, everyone as an individual is having some kind of talent the important thing is we have to find that talent by ourselves like oikawa said talent is something you make bloom and instincts is something u polish
I usually watch videos at 1.25 x speed but this video I had to watch it at 0.75 to hear his feeling behind every word even though I don't understand Japanese

*every oikawa kin needs to see this because u guys are so goddamn annoying and pathetic* literally the purpose of Oikawas character was to prove that there's no such thing as a "prodigy" or "geniuses", that you can overcome anyone with relentless hardwork and patience. All of u are all "oh no poor Oikawa he work so hard" no shit everybody worked hard. It's so goddamn frustrating, his character is so well written and deep. His like a mixture of a hundred different things and ur just taking two and you'd make that his whole personality.
Bruh, I immediately thought of this when I was watching re-main with a *coughes* certain character *cough* Because his arguments/reasoning for his questionable actions and wanting to give up because his role model wasn’t as goldly/prodigy as he used to be /thought he was (like he was born as such/that it’s genetic etc) Smh
Welp, this explanation might just be pretty much late but, I'll answer your question with one more question if I may, are guns created straight to being a gun? No process at all? No, in order for it to be created, to be there, it experiences a lot of processes, and every gun varies, every creator of a gun varies and the time to create them varies also, and one more similar stuff, books don't always have the same amount of contexts and etc. but it doesn't mean that they didn't worked hard, "geniuses" are like that too, at first, they are just an empty book and they just filled themselves up with their hardworks and experience and the ones who envies and tells themselves that they are no match against them didn't just worked hard as much as they did, the moment that you started to think that something is no use, it is an act of admitting defeat and so self-pity alongside the presence of self-satisfaction is right there working with each other makes you believe so, I will just leave you a quote of mine, I pretty much created it myself "No matter how sharp the drill is, as long as it started to stop moving, it won't go through the wall; meanwhile the one that isn't that sharp but didn't stop will go through" you, yourself is your own creator, you can't blame anyone about your lack of this and that, it is yourself that you should blame, that is what on my mind, kinda long but I hope it makes sense
gotta say, shinsuke’s speech made me acknowledge talent and skill rather than being jealous of it
