- The Electrical Engineering Major is the best investment you can make in yourself for college. But you first may ask, what is electrical engineering? What is the electrical engineering major? And is electrical engineering right for me? In this video I aim to answer this question!
Electrical engineering involves a broad range of subfields including electronics, RF, controls, signal processing, instrumentation, power, and much more. This video gives 17 reasons to study electriccal engineering and covers aspects of electrical engineering undergrad curriculum you can expect. Note that all schools are a little different so don't take this as a guarantee, but hopefully this gives a good overview of what to expect.
You can find free PDF of my book on my website: www.alialqaraghuli.com

Excellent video.
I'm in 2nd year EE and was starting to get a bit demotivated. This picked me up a lot.
Glad you liked it! More to come
Keep going!!! It's worth it 🤘
this channel is so underrated 😢
Glad you think so! Are you studying electrical engineering?
@@alithedazzling I am going to study it
@@geraldwesley thats awesome, any questions or things you are wondering about related to electrical engineering (or college)?
@@alithedazzling in highschool I used to love physics but sometimes struggle with math do you think I will make it through EE
Yes, because math/phyiscs is a skill you can get better at. Its not what engineering is entirely about. Check this out ruclips.net/video/lM-oSvLjw6o/видео.html
MashaAllah,Ali,I m happy to see.. there is someone who is addressing electrical engineering... well done 👏
Thank you for the very nice comment :-)
So cool! As a freshman in EE, this video really motivated me to pursue it as a career.
4th one is very important. I studied civil engineering and I couldn´t handle that you always see these things the buildings and everything is so big. In electrical it´s molecular level and abstract
I'm only discovering you now! If I had known about you earlier when I started high-school and was already showing interest in electrical engineering, I would've been ahead rn. Long story short, my interests shifted but recently my interest for electrical engineering was revived and I'm waiting to start my EEE degree. I absolutely love your channel!
I definitely appreciate you. You have really open my mind to a new world and beautiful possibilities. I deeply love hardware and electronics, and the science and theory, more than software 😮💨. I will take electrical engineering any day. Thank you good sir!! Keep preaching the good message.
Please make more such videos, I'm glad to find this channel. Everyone else just talk about ML and softwares. Hope this channel grows exponentially.
Thank you so much! Are there specific video topics you'd be more interested in?
Ya, something related to microprocessors and VSLI would be great favour.

Awesome video! It motivates me more to begin study electrical engineering😉
Go for it, its loads of fun :-)
Im in love with The Secret of Skinwalker Ranch and am sooo impressed by Travis Taylor. Like I just want to listen to him talk cuz hes sooo super smart and im just like..I want to know what HE knows. Ur channel has been so helpful. I saw he first got a bs in electrical engineering so i am looking into it and i love everything ur saying so far. I was originally thinking to go for just physics, but this is applied physics and thats what i want. I also get super excited about the technology they use on that show and expedition bigfoot. It would b so cool if i could make my own equipment. I love the FLIR cameras, LIDAR, oh and I even love the REM pods they use in ghost hunting. I took half a semester of integrated chem/phys in high school and really liked it. I also have read half the book called Atom: Journey Across the Subatomic Cosmos, i just got stuck on the chapter about radiation..i think it was..and couldnt finish it cuz i didnt understand, but was reading it for fun and it made me feel 'at home' so hearing that electrical engineering isnt just all wires but dealing with energy, frequency, waves, atoms...that makes me super excited. I just turned 30. I have been tryna figure out what i wanna do for 10 years now. Still havent gone to school.
Mashallah brother Ali, very awesome ❤
Thank you. Decent video!
Glad you liked it!
I will read your book over my winter break!
I hope you like it! Please make sure to let me know what you think of it
Wallahi im sold ,, thank you for your input !
well hopefully you're sold because you are interested in it haha
Hey man!
This channel of yours is an amazing find. I was looking for something I want to do for years. Any job I would undertake seemed off and I was going crazy. I love music (listen to prog metal and always look for more stuff), love business (have a dream of building my business) and in fact I used to work as a live sound operator. I loved tinkering with tech. But I just felt that I can do way more than that. I wanted to go waaay deeper. More fundamental. But my surroundings were very unsupportive. Struggled hardcore...I went deep into philosophy and liked trying to understand the structure of the universe. The spiritual information on the net seemed interesting sometimes, but a bit... naive or just delusional quite often. I didn't buy a lot of it. But I liked the philosophy behind some ideas. It resonated. So the fundamentals of philosophical enquiry were in the ancient Greece I realised one day. So I found my first hero. Aristotle. I loved the way he is thinking and I felt that I got closer to something within me. After that I employed the Ethics and character building into my identity to deal with the sketchy upbringing I've been exposed to and went on looking to do something further on my journey. Waves are fascinating to me and I realised that I used to be immersed in documentaries about Nikola Tesla and Edisons war on the AC and DC. The more I got into electrics the more everything clicked. What you talk about in this episode is so close to my heart and soul. This is what I want to do.
Could you give me some suggestions of what are my options on becoming an electrical engineer? I live in Lithuania at the moment. I am divorced and am broke for the most part. But I manage to make ends meet. Right now I enrolled in a 1 year program to get an electricians profession and started working for a company (civil engineering type) that sends electricians to work in Sweden. Thats how I make a bit of money to give me a head start for this year. Its important for me to decide how to move forward. I am thinking between making a business that would pay my way into a degree in electrical engineering. Thinking of doing it by learning to code and make a website that resells electrical equipment... but it could be tedious dealing with storage and stuff. So maybe that busness could be purely online, but also I could just learn coding and work remotely to pay for a degree. What I think I am going after is machine learning and robotics... so coding is very very relevant in any case. I would like to understand AI better, Neurolink is supper interesting to me. I have many ideas of what I would like to do... But i need to get of the ground. Life really weren't a breeze with this wonderfully uncompromising brain of mine. (my avatar is the way that it is for a reason ;) thats how my soul works pretty much.
Please help me out with some guidance man. Please. Thank you!
Hey! Thanks for the comment, this was really good writing -- I appreciate it.
I would say if you are interested in electrical engineering, if you can get that electricial program finished and go to sweden that would be a great idea. Also moving to a new place can help you re-invent yourself and over there I can imagine it is easier to find resources for electrical engineering projects. Although you can do this perfectly do this in Lithuania as well.
A business could be a good idea, but I have found it better to go make money working under some people first and learning through them before I could venture off on my own. This will obviously depend on so many different variables so its very hard to give specfiic advice, but the only advice I have is trust your intuition and do what makes sense and just believe you can do it. There's a story of a guy named Og Mandino who wrote a fantastic book called greatest salesman in the world, I would highly recommend it, he was also divorced and was likely homeless, then became super successful.
I'd also love to visit Lithuania some day, I've been to Latvia and Estonia, both beautiful countries.
Peace love!
@@alithedazzling Thanks for such a soon answer! I was thinking of moving to Sweden. The day I came here I felt like this country could accommodate my strives. Your reply reinforced that direction! I'll get on it whenever I get a chance :)
If you ever decide to come to Lithuania it would be incredible to meet! Hard to describe ho I feel right now.. It would be unbelievable :D If there is any way we could contact further I would love that very much!
@@Art_Mind_Creations I do plan on having a discord group sometime soon, likely at 10K subs mark -- stay tuned and best of luck!

I majored in Physics for my BS..But my original desire was to do EE. In my Physics study I fell in love with Electromagnetics. For Grad school I studied in a Department which was at the Interface of Physics and EE. In was the Optics and Photonics Program. I also took some RF courses from the EE department. Today I work in R&D typically tackling problems in Radar, Laser, Signal and Image Processing.
I am gonna major in physics but electrical engineering is a close second place. I just don't get to go so in-depth in physics in electrical engineering. It would be cool if you could get to study like advanced quantum mechanics and advanced electrodynamics also, which could could combine well with electrical engineering.
both are good options, follow your heart and calibrate
😂😂6:15 as a hobby audio engineer and music producer, you had me there. idk about all the small stuff . I've been known to grab delicate stuff and break it in bio or chem
Thanks you alot

I have a accelerated 5 year masters in ME already, but i realized along the way i was interested in EE/&comps a fair bit. What do you advise me to do? Can i pickup the skills by just doing it on my own through the years? Or do i have to get another degree in EE.. whats the best way for me to cover the field since i already have a degree that has overlaps. I really dont want to start all over again and I dont think i have to. Do you think watching a bunch of lectures on youtube and tinkering with things may do it? Or like probably going to have to read books right. I would think i may want my learnings to be certified too right? If i want companies to actually acknowledge and certified my studyings though.. ? Thoughts
id say start first with type of jobs you want to get, find their requirements and judge for yourself. most comapnies will want to see some sort of degree. if you are absolutely sure EE is your desired skillset, maybe a MS degree wont be a bad idea
You increased my loves towards electrical engineering (childhood love)
So glad to have found that channel, my dream is to become an electrical engineer
what would you like videos about?
@Ali the Dazzling I would like you to talk about all the branches of electrical engineering in details.
My long term goal is to get my masters and specialize in Renewable Energy or Power Generation... I really love your channel man... Any ideas on project I can make related to Renewable Energy?
Honestly, a very simple one could be a basic solar panel, and see how efficient it is? Another would be a simple wind-turbine, perhaps using an arduino microcontroller to track input data as well with some sensors on the breadboard. I'd say start with something super simple and build your way up!
@@alithedazzling Sounds epic... The only thing I've gotta try building is the wind turbine because I have built a solar tracker, it was a nice feeling 😍. Thank you very much for the response.

Brother I have a question, I have come to my junior year of CS at UB but I believe I want to be more of a EE due to the fact of loving hardware/hands on work plus the math/physics behind EE. Should I take the leap to EE ? Or would finishing out CS then attaining a ms in EE be possible?
I wanted to consider studying electric engineering, but sadly in my city Oslo they only have electronic engineering, and i dont realy like, so i decided to go with civl engineering, i hope it wil be funn and useful 🙃
electronic is good too, civil is good too, all engineering is good
I am interested in studying electrical engineering but where i learn there is only the option of learning electrical and computer engineering is that a good field if you can describe in detail about it.
The Best College Course out there is the one that you’re most interested in it.
agree 100%
and it needs to build a skill that is profitable
In a utopia, yeah. Reality is that people need to get ROI on going to college. Technical school, community college, and many other routes are better options for many than taking the college course they are most interested in.
I think i have decided to study electrical engineering
I have adhd and giftedness, so i get obsessive, but have poor time management and have a hard time focusing and unintentionally space out and experience burnt-out that leads to depression. I know ur field isnt mental health related, but do u have ANY advice on how NOT to experience burn-out? And do u think someone w adhd can commit to engineering? The thing with ppl with adhd is we are passionate but have a hard time finishing things. Sorry if u dont know. Had to ask.
read adhd 2.0 -- its a very good book on the topic!

What is the procedure to take lateral admission in electrical engineering in Chandigarh University?
If I study electronic engineering instead wld it still be applicable to point 11 regarding the understanding of music?
Every decent Computer Science undergraduate program teaches the "low level" stuff about how computers work. They include courses like: Computer Architecture and Organization, Operating Systems and Systems programming . You learn not only how computers work physically but also how the software interacts with the hardware.
Although, there is a low bar to be a programmer in today's job market as you don't even need a degree, you are comparing degrees here and as I said those topics are included in any decent CS UG program.
