Nah... Early hip hop style evolved from 70's Ny gang culture & what the drug dealers were wearing... With the exception of the sugar hill gang & Run Dmc the first rappers on wax were dressing like a cross between Rick J ames & Parliment Funkadelick... Im 51 now grew up in Nyc my whole life - From the time the game evolved into true, 5 element, foundational hip hop culture - just within the 5 boros alone its 100% safe to say both Blacks & Puertoricans made heavy contributions to da rap game from that point moving forward... The argument stems from the initial first wave of young black Ny Dj's, Mc's & fans that frontlined the culture during its early party & jam era at the community wreck centers, then eventually the street, and park jams but it wasnt that to long after our puertorican bros & sisters started making contributions to da game by way of break dancing, graffiti, Djin etc

Seriously, do yall ever stop being delusional? Rap music has always been in Black Culture. It literally had nothing to do with gang Culture. Literally nothing. It was just another Black expression. It had nothing to do with Gangs. Puerto Ricans contributions in rap have been minimal in 50 years. Never had a single female pioneer. Just like 1 or 2 decent male rappers. It's 💯 percent Black. Yall was just in close proximity.

@@dryinkdryink675 First of all youre referencing dumbed down fragmented bootleg information about rap and im discussing hip hop culture in its totality Bronx gangs during the 70s most definitely had an influence on the attitude and flavor of early hip hop culture... The Savage Seven which eventually became the The Black Spades & The Peace Makers gave birth to another faction called The Baby Spades... Those Baby Spades were the young black kids at the wreck center parties... The Spade Dance is one of the moves that eventually inspired early breakdancing... And alot of those young black american kids came from homes of Deep Southern lineage, African lineage, Brittish westindian lineage by way of Trinidad, Barbados, Jamaica & St Vincent as well as Afro latino lineage from puertorico... Some brothers were hatian but u wouldnt kno it cause they never spoke french on the block and grew up in the inner city... They may have appeared black in pigment but most black american people in Nyc are multi ethnic & multicultural... Also some of the most phenominal DJs, graffitti artists & b-boys / b-girls were puertorican like Dj Charlie Chase for example who was a founding member of the THE COLD CRUSH BROTHERS.& Graffitti artist Tracey 168 who pioneerd The Wild Style. Im black as fu** & grew up both in East Ny & the South Bronx - Still have family on both ends of the city & jersey I lived hip hop culture all through the 70s 80s 90s all the way till it went from a true 5 element foundational culture to a total trash crash-out , mumbling, social media simp culture...
      YOURE DELUSIONAL!!!
