    Really cool paper! I think it is a good thing that it got published. But the reviewer do have a point. Even if the garment greatly reduce mosquito bites, some bites will still happens on uncovered skin. It is an interesting question whether reducing bites to a non zero number can reduce spread mosquito borne diseases. Not a good reason for rejection, but not "idiotic" either.

    Will the mosquito not just go to the exposed skin when it can´t get thrue the fabric?
    If so then you are just changing where on your body the mosquito get you and not if the mosquito will get you at all.

    shall I have an explanation that how could we have stop codons at the end of several genes in a row in Gibson assembly and just have one promotor? how the second and third genes will transcript when RNA polymerase dissociate by the first gene' s stop codon ? thank you.

    • @ProfBeckmann
      @ProfBeckmann  3 месяца назад

      stop codons dont dissociate RNA pol - they stop the protein in the ribosome. terminators dissociate the RNA pol. and ribosomes can read through some stop codons.

    Crazy how the most basic approach was neglected until now...this happens when people don't set out to solve a specific problem but simply use the problem as an excuse to implement this "great new technology" they developed. It's the same as building a hyperloop while your rail system is shit, claiming you're solving the issue of efficient and cheap transportation. Only in this case it's unleashing gene drives vs. changing the way we weave clothes. I mean COME ON!! How is there even a risk reward discussion here. The "shiny new thing" phenomenon is a real problem when you are trying to actually fix things. And I say all of this as a big advocate of all thing biotech/synbio.

      @hpac9687 yes… they also almost forced us to remove references to underarmour and nike because they were afraid of being sued. this suggests that they would never EVER publish anything negative about major medicines from large pharmaceutical companies
