  • High Intensity Interval Training, or HIIT, is a type of exercise that can help combat diabetes. It involves brief periods of intense activity followed by rest breaks. It also aims to raise the heart rate to at least 70% to 90% of one's maximum heart rate.

*Maximum heart rate is 220 minus your age.

HIIT is great for home workouts as they don't require a large amount of space. They can be completed in as little as 10 minutes and are just as effective as longer periods of continuous exercise. This can help lower your risk of getting diabetes. If you have not been active, start off at a comfortable level and progress gradually. With proper education and guidance from a physiotherapist, HIIT is safe for everyone.
