Thanks for your comments. I agree snapping dead branches in the fork of a tree is a great way to save your energy. The problem comes in when you need the flexibility and strength of green wood for a shelter or trap. The saw works even better on green wood since it's softer. We chose to cut the dead branches since it's a demonstration of concept, and we'd rather not kill trees if we don't have to. As you mentioned it also works well for notching and small tasks too.
I like the fact that one person did the whole task from start to finish even though having a second pair of hands might have been of some help. With that being said, I really like the video a lot. Especially being a novice to outdoor survival stuff.
Thanks for the comment Bill. It's great when people understand the point of the video instead of just telling us we could have broken the limb by stepping on it. We're due for a sequel for this one since we updated the design of the bracelet. Any suggestions for the next video?
never realised you get get so much bespoke items for a bracelet! paracording is an art form it seems in USA i am from UK and these gizmoes on your bracelet something you carry unknowingly seem like a good idea! i find these saws although good used maybe once or twice on trips very quickly lose their teeth or cutting power! they are meant to be used as back up only! very neat idea to enclose one in your bracelet in timber country! striker mirror whistle amazing! lil para bracelet! really is!
I received a wire saw as a gift and was wondering how well it would hold up under use. That is a great idea to make it into a bow saw, Thank You for the great video on this subject.
I read all these comments about how, "my ______ cuts things better" and the response is typically "i'd like to see a ______ bracelet." My chainsaw would cut all of that stuff, and quickly. I think the point is that the paracord saw bracelet thing is compact and travels well. I can't see myself carrying my chainsaw around to work, or school, or having a reason to carry it in my car everywhere I go, but the easy-to-carry bracelet that serves a purpose wouldn't be a second thought.
You can use it to cut notches for trigger sticks on traps, cut green sticks (they don't break well) for making shelters, make precise cuts on larger logs that may not break where you want them for making a sleeping platform, cut and notch an improvised bow and arrow... They sky is the limit.
This is great. People keep saying "Id just have my knife or saw or survival kit" They dont seem to grasp the idea that this is if you have nothing and are not expecting to be put in a situation like that (survival) it's not meant to say "ohh I'm going camping better bring my wire saw" people don't understand things these days
I think some of you are missing the point, yes a saw or hatchet is ideal but the point of the bracelet and the video is when in a situation you are not prepared for then this "bracelet" can provide life saving tools. Walking alone and someone gets hurt and needs a splint to ambulance can come and help, this wire is able to saw off branches to help. This tool kit is for last resort, not first choice.
Good question with some good suggestions. A fish stringer is a great idea, trip wire would be good too. You can unwind the twisted wire and get some various sized wire for lashing or a heavy duty repair 'thread', though it's probably too kinky to use for snares unless you make one large snare out of the full saw. The fun of products like this is that the possibilities are only limited by the ingenuity of the user. Thanks for the comments.
Jonny, Yes we understand that. As mentioned in some of the other comments below, the saw works even better on green wood since it's softer. We chose to cut the hardest dead branches we could find since it's a demonstration of concept, and we'd rather not kill live trees if we don't have to. Hope that makes sense.
We actually don't have much in the way of rocks around here. I used to think everywhere had rocks, but I sure can't find any when I'm looking for them. Great energy saver if you can find one though. Thanks for the comment.
It seems so many ppl are missing what I think the concept is...SHTF, YOU GET OUT WITH WHAT YOU HAVE ON YOU AT THE TIME. In that case you don't get to go home and get your backpack. I don't think it was really meant as a bush-craft item. iI think it is a viable concept and a good presentation.
Lil Black Sambo seems to me, if you can't afford something, you go and have a 3yr old hissy fit! 😲 Lol Wazoo is the really coming along well with making EDC easier. I don't know where I'd wear a real chainsaw saw chain. As a necklace lmao nope!
+Julia Mahaffey Generally green wood is softer than dry wood. You can see a small green wood cut at the beginning of this video when I cut the Youpon Holly to use as the bow.
If you want to make a slot with the saw, start by cutting a V shaped slot on the corner for a start, that way the chord isn't slipping around. I know, there aren't many situations where you need the slot to be pretty... but it helps get things started.
To everyone boo-hooing this as a waste of energy or what not: yes, there are much better tools for this, yes, this is a waste if you have other options, but this is a worst case scenario. If for whatever reason you got stranded and you didn't have most of your stuff except what you carry at ALL times
Keith Kacanek the most use of the bracelet would be the paracord. the saw is a complete waste of resources put into the bracelet. in a survival situation where you have the bare minimum of tools, you will be much more worried about small easily broken branches for fire and shelter to conserve both energy and time. if you dont have food then you should find things that can be broken in seconds, not sawed in minutes.
+themetalheadgeek It is just hipster-wear for "survivalists" that just need to scream "I am a bad ass woodsman" with their girly fashion item. I really have to wonder just how useful a length of paracord that short is though, obviously a longer length is much more useful.. but I wonder just how much "surviving" that off cut will enable.
+74KU been through the USAF SERE course for aircrew. the tiny white threads that are the center of the cord are what will serve you the best. each segment within a bracelet will be about four feet long, and you have roughly 200 segments depending on cord used. these thin strings are used to secure the outside covering to the frame of the shelter (made of fallen branches). you keep one segment of full paracord for making a bow drill for fire, to be placed in the entry way of the shelter. even a small lean to like this is waaaayyy better than being blanketed in snow over night. trust me, I've slept in the cold without one and it SUCKS.
Brilliant! I cringe every time someone makes a video with one of those little saws while yanking on it from the opposing side, so it snags on the branch, just so they can say it is junk. Just because one does not know how to use a tool effectively, it does not mean that tool sucks. This would be awesome in a pinch where a bracelet is all you have.
Thanks for the presentation. One request - this is the first video I've seen from you and I have no idea what you're referring to when you talked about a ranger band. I was hoping to at least get a look at it when you pulled it off, but never got that chance as it was quickly cast aside. I used to teach a computer class where I told my students that I would assume they were starting at ground zero when it came to understanding the internet. There was always appreciation that I wasn't going to just assume they knew something just because I did. I'm hoping you'll have that same approach going forward. Thanks!
Good answer, it makes sense not to kill live trees just for a demonstration, I commend you on that. Yeah, green wood is always easier to cut regardless of what cutting instrument you are using. Can that wire saw double as anything else? like a snare, fish stringer, tripwire, plumb bob, lashings, etc. If there is at least one other good use for it that isn't easily made in a survival situation then exposing those features might help make the sale. Good luck
Since it doesn't actually have any "sharp edges" it won't get dull. It uses a mix of small and large wire braided together to create friction surfaces and voids to allow chips to collect and eject. Because it is made of stainless steel, it can eventually weaken from repeated bending and end up breaking. It's a material fatigue issue with any metal, and it's one of the reasons we recommend it in the Bow Saw format. It limits the amount of bending and gives maximum life of the saw, combined with maximum effectiveness of use.
It's not so much a brand but a type. We did some extensive testing and research to find the best one and ended up choosing the stainless steel commando style saw. Since RUclips won't let me share links here, you'll have to swing by our facebook page and look for the photo album called "Research and Development". In there you can find the conclusions of our research comparing the different saws.
Esrikon Good question. It won't cause it to rust because the wire is stainless steel. As for the cleaning question, it self cleans as you use it. In our second video (see link popup early on in this video) we ended up getting it gunked up with a good amount of sappy saw dust. It still cuts, just doesn't look pretty. It dried overnight and the next time we used it all the sappy chunks fell right off.
Wazoo Survival Gear, LLC Sorry, I purchased it online a couple years back. Can't recall who from. It's handy to have because of its compactness. It's certainly better than nothing at all if you need to cut through something in the field and have nothing else.
A good heavy duty knife is always a great thing to have. There's no way to fit that in a bracelet though. We have some small ceramic razor blades on some of them, but still not going to cut sticks and branches with those.
This is like the coolest bracelet ever. But i wonder once you dismantle it, are you able to put it back together.. if not that be so awesome but anyway nice video ! Would like to see more use of the bracelet =)
En Ze We have some other videos with different products. Our items aren't meant to be put back together, they are intended as a one time emergency use. If you ever had to use it in a real survival situation, we would definitely replace it for free. If you want to play with all the items inside, we sell the core tubes separately.
Nice video guys! I make my own bracelets just for fun, and these videos are really helpful for some ideas. Just wondering, where can I get those buckles with the ferro rods?
Dan, it is designed to be an emergency use item, similar to the airbag in your car. If you ever need it, it's there. Once it's used, it's not meant to be re-used. With that said, we will replace it free of charge if you ever need it in a survival scenario so don't be afraid to use it. If it's just to show off to friends, that doesn't count. But keep in mind the whistle, firesteel, mirror, striker and tinder are all readily accessible without disassembling the bracelet.
This is ridiculous, whenever I leave my house to go anywhere I always carry a chainsaw with a 24" bar and 5 gallons of extra mixed gasoline and bar oil so why would I ever need a a small SURVIVAL bracelet that could help me if needed.............
It's usually only about 5 minutes. We just speed it up to save time. There are some quick deploy weaves you can find out there, but they don't work if you weave survival kits inside the bracelets.
TSA doesn't currently have any regulations against wire saws or firesteels. It's always best to check their carry-on list before traveling and keep in mind it's always up to the discretion of the TSA agent that day. We've never heard of any customers having issues though. If you like this bracelet, check out our Cache Belt :)
Just saying. wouldn't it be a whole lot less work just to stomp on that dry branch to bust it out? I know I have busted out a lot bigger snags that that by just smashing them with my boot?
+r0gera Yes, as with the 30+ other comments that say this exact thing... It's a proof of concept to show how to use the product. Just picked the down log that was nearby to demonstrate the cut. It's the whole reason we made this video as a followup: ruclips.net/video/-8YJJRM1la4/видео.html&feature=iv&src_vid=bXgzNBxFjFQ&annotation_id=annotation_4087720601
great vid mate, yes wire saws are rubbish we all know that but in a pinch i'd rather have one of those than nothing at all.....at very least if your bush buddy is pissing you off you can use it to strangle him LMAO thx mate regards
No brainer, the saw weighs nothing and with the addition of a small penknife to simplify the "notching" of the bow and facilitate other woodworking tasks like creating firesticks etc you're sorted. You could build a decent wood shelter and provide logs for fire all from 2 items that fit in your pocket. !!!!! People go overboard carrying axes, huge knives, folding saws etc. Good vid mate.
+Bertie Blue Thanks Bertie. Always good to see someone that "gets it". Too many armchair critics out there. I will tell you that when the wire saw is strung into a bow saw or buck saw, it makes a very good notcher!

Well when we were kids and wanted to break down fire wood we would just put the limb between the yoke or V of two trees and they would break right there with little force at all could make them any length we wanted , or use a heavier branch than the other to just break it . it looks like your trying to sell somthing that no one needs other than maybe some rope . on your wrist .will it hold up to 200lbs ?
Lots of prior comments on this as well. Works best on green wood as shown in the beginning portion of the video, and green wood is not going to snap well in the fork of a tree. We just demonstrated on the dried hard wood to save cutting a larger live tree. Works to score and snap bone as well.
when he was cutting that downed pine, i thought, "ill freeking break it and be done its just firewood." for making shelters or tools so you dont want jagged edges its a great idea. Firewood, not so much
Basically what I was thinking. A handy bracelet to have for an unexpected survivalist situation. Since I doubt that wire saw would last really long, best to save it for building important items such as your examples.
Why not use two sticks for the saw handle! If I am in a survival situation that paracord would be seriously something I would want to spare for other uses.
Agreed. We should update the video to show this. I used the stick handles to make a pair of snowshoes last year. Had the paracord for lashing boot loops.
I like the innovation you guys at Wazoo have added the Paracord bracelets. This one falls a little short. As you have said people have different opinions and preferences so whatever. Like I have told many people before though - calling the Paracord bracelets a survival bracelet is misleading. If are loss in the woods and the tool you have on you is a bracelet - I don't care how cool widgets are hidden in it - that is going to be some rough adventure. If you got out in the boonies and don't a good fixed blade knife - you should have stayed home. Like I said you guys innovation is awesome and I hope you sell so many of these you cant keep up with demand!
Mridul, Yes it is. It's not meant to be taken apart and used again. It's an emergency item that's there when you need it, just like an airbag in your car. But should you ever need to use it in an emergency situation, contact us with the story, pictures of the parts you made it out with, and we'll replace it for free.
your not really using he paracord bracelet to take the tree down at all. your just delaying your time by putting a wire saw inside the bracelet, delaying the proccess. can i just ask one question - why did you say your cutting the tree down with a PARACORD BRACELET? when your using a wire saw?
this is really cool but i would rather go find a big rock and snap stuff just a little smaller , BUT hay if thats all you had its better than nothing :) take care
you should've demonstrated on something green. that ol' dead pine you could've broke with a dull stick quicker than you sawed through it. I understand this is more of proof of concept video, but still I think it would be better to see your product in action on something that we might actually *need* a saw to take care of.
Thanks for the feedback. We did cut the small green sapling in the beginning to make the bow and you can see how much more quickly it went through that one. We try to avoid taking down larger trees just to prove a point, but if we can find one freshly fallen, we'll shoot some video of it.
Thanks for your comments. I agree snapping dead branches in the fork of a tree is a great way to save your energy. Dude this is awesome.. what does TSA say about this? Airplane ready?
TSA doesn't currently have any regulations against wire saws or firesteels. It's always best to check their carry-on list before traveling and keep in mind it's always up to the discretion of the TSA agent that day. We've never heard of any customers having issues though. If you like this bracelet, check out our Cache Belt :)
I make my own Paracord bracelets. where can I get that wire saw packed like the one you show.
You can buy them in the DIY section on our web page. www.wazoosurvivalgear.com We call them Survival Core Tubes.
Where do you get the bracelets

Wire saws are underrated. If you know how to make a bow saw you're set.
Couldn't agree more! Glad to hear from someone with some sense and experience on this topic.
How to do it without a saw? Only stones
great vid mate, yes wire saws are rubbish we all know that but in a pinch i'd rather have one of those than nothing at all.....at very least if your bush buddy is pissing you off you can use it to strangle him LMAO thx mate regards
lols yes! if 3 can't keep a secret, 2 must die!!!
Very cool!!
Great video! Subbed
+OpBalisong Many thanks!
I will tell you that when the wire saw is strung into a bow saw or buck saw, it makes a very good notcher!
pretty cool

Devise a technology which can grow a tree overnight. What is great in cutting the tree?
+aks thakur It's an invasive Yaupon Holly.
+Wazoo Survival Gear, LLC Yaupon Holly is a native plant that ranges throughout the Southeast US. I've never heard it being invasive anywhere.

hey bro great vid ,where do you get the rangerbands ?
+Rick Guidry We have them custom manufactured for us and sell them at www.WazooSurvivalGear.com
This is why I have a good thick knife.
Because you can carry a machete in a casual public scene and easily deploy it in a sudden, unexpected survival situation.
Fire works as a great saw. MUCH less energy used as well. The fire does the cutting for you.
Has anyone attempted to take this bracelet through airport security?
Lol
I want one!!!
Like I said you guys innovation is awesome and I hope you sell so many of these you cant keep up with demand!
where was that lake it was beautiful!!!!
It's a bayou on the SE side of Houston, TX
Wazoo Survival Gear LLC thanks
nice video, but misleading titel - it should be titled "cutting down trees with a wire saw from a paracord bracelet".
Can this be used to saw of heads of hunted game? ;o)
Bob NA Hmm... good question. Haven't tried that yet. We can send you a wire saw to test out if you can send us some photos or videos of the results.
the bracelet seems to be quite hard to put it back together
Mridul, Yes it is. It's not meant to be taken apart and used again. It's an emergency item that's there when you need it, just like an airbag in your car. But should you ever need to use it in an emergency situation, contact us with the story, pictures of the parts you made it out with, and we'll replace it for free.
Wazoo Survival Gear, LLC amazing, thanks for the info! 👍
subbed
Thanks! More to come when the season settles down.
If you keep a fishhook you could use the name tag as a spoon and fish
Yes, exactly! improvise with what you got and with Wazoo you got a lot.
your not really using he paracord bracelet to take the tree down at all. your just delaying your time by putting a wire saw inside the bracelet, delaying the proccess. can i just ask one question - why did you say your cutting the tree down with a PARACORD BRACELET? when your using a wire saw?
nice video, new sub
Thanks!
Also that "bow saw" looks like itll fuck you up real bad when enough tensions builds and that wire eviscerates your arms
This was about the silliest tutorial I've ever seen hahaha haha haha I can't stop laughing hahaha haha
Glad we could make ya laugh Robert. Always good to have another fan! Thanks!
this is really cool but i would rather go find a big rock and snap stuff just a little smaller , BUT hay if thats all you had its better than nothing :) take care
you should've demonstrated on something green. that ol' dead pine you could've broke with a dull stick quicker than you sawed through it.
Lol fun to see you fight a stick
