Sorry for the long comment but here's so info about this song and it would be great if you keep it in mind when you read the lyrics: In this song Namjoon (RM) is mocking the people that call themselves “rappers” when they aren’t real ones. It is well known that he, as well as Yoongi (Suga), was an underground artist and that he was being looked down at because he became famous as an idol rather than pursuing a career as a rapper. I think that this song is a way for him to tell them that no matter what path he took and how people perceive him as an idol, he is still a rapper and he has the skills that they don’t. He basically laughs at them and at how pathetic they are, pointing out how different their leagues are and making them feel insignificant. He even brags about how writing the lyrics took him just a short time and that it is easy for him to do so. We don't know exactly who are the ones he dissing but we know for sure that one of them is B-free, who talked a lot of sht about them. He raps his lines with such ease and skills. Some lines are incredibly genius if you get the sarcasm and you analyze all the references, some lines don’t make that much sense, but since he is laughing at them, it does make sense at the end. It isn’t a regular dissing song: it is truly like a joke to him. They are a joke, his situation is a joke and writing this track feels like a joke too. I just love so much how he laughs at them for writing meaningless lyrics about overused topics and stereotypes while he kind of does in this song as a Joke. Like come on, RM killed it. 🔥🔥💜 Fun fact: Namjoon mentioned that he once wanted to be a poet so no wonder why he's so good. Actually, in Korea he's known as "The Philosopher Who Raps" because his work and incredible insight are admirable when they take a look at his lyrics - that all range from incredible wordplay, poetic metaphors, and a perfect and raw encapsulation of what it means to be human. Besides being a genius with a 148 IQ lmao
There is a version of this video that has proper English subtitles. Please find that and react to that again for us thank you. You cannot rely on auto translate for this or any Korean language videos. They're 99.5% incorrect.
The autotranslated captions are like 90% wrong most of the time, it's better to search a video with the song lyrics translation or subs apart when the official mv doesn't have the option of proper subtitles. By the way the color lyrics videos don't have the best translations too bc they post them immediately when the songs are released to get all the views and when it's a bts song they even mix up the members parts lol but i guess for new armys is helpful to distic the members voices
Auto generated captions assume that the language being spoken is English, even when it isn't, so the subtitles will never be correct for auto-generated. There aren't a whole lot of BTS videos without English translations, but you can find videos with fan subtitles on them that are usually more accurate than the lyric videos. Lyric videos are more concerned with getting the video out as quickly as possible than they are with accuracy, and they rarely have any cultural context info added, while fan subs usually do. With Joke, in particular, it's honestly difficult to read a video with subtitles just because of how fast RM is going. You have to pause a LOT just to be able to keep up. I do recommend checking out the lyrics, though. Oh, and his song, Do You MV is also without subtitles.
There's a video with English subtitles... An Army that translated for us kind of... This man don't even breathe.. This song is like a stream of consciousness.. RM is a genius when it comes to lyricism, wordplay even between different languages.. B-free is one of those who said he couldn't rap sand more like a girl for wearing makeup... He told them at the end to "HIT ME" and to this day I don't believe anyone has lol 💜💜💜💜💜
