Johnny Rowland said they had conversion kits at one time but when i called the shop they said they don't make them for the usp because it has an unsupported chamber. These loads you use, 255 grains from Buffalo Bore and Underwood don't reach the speeds you mention, even in a longer barrel. In fact myself and another person chronographed the Underwood load which they advertise at 1300 fps, not " 1300 to 1400". We both got speeds that were surprisingly low. Close to but not quite 1200 fps....in Clark 5 inch barrels 460 Rowland conversions in mine, in his a conversion purchased from the Rowland store. The B.B. isn't any hotter by the way. It may serve you well to chronograph the loads especially that you are using a shorter barrel in the G 30. The difference in energy is far from a mid-range 44 magnum, it's closer to a mid-range 41 magnum. If the advertised speed of 1300 fps in both companies' loads is reached, then it is a low to mid-range 44 magnum equivalent in energy. Regardless, for protection against bears lower speeds when shooting hard cast are enough to achieve satisfactory penetration. Thank you for the video, I enjoyed it. You're strictly mentioning energy as the barometer for effectiveness on game. The 10 mm bullets have higher sectional densities than the 45. The 200 grains 10 mm is equivalent to a 255 in 45 if one compares sectional densities which directly correlate to the ability to penetrate. The 220 grains bullet in 10 mm is equivalent to a 280 grains 45 caliber in terms of penetration based on sectional density. With a 5" kimber, the weight is less than a revolver, and i have 10 round magazines.
I’m assuming your Kimber is a .45 ACP. If you prefer to shoot the Kimber, convert it and have fun! For me, I wanted the smallest, most robust, durable platform that could handle the 10 rd OR 13 rd mags. A 5” barrel in a chest rig is less comfortable to mt bike with. I also like that the G30 is only a $500 gun. In Alaska, it’s a tool, not a jewel.
in in alaska and cary 460 xvr. want to sell me a used version of youe glock 460? trade you for a glock 19 😊
Dude you're downplaying the 10mm as if it isn't capable of taking all four legged animals on the North American continent, 10mm can be hand loaded to mid .41 magnum levels some people have gotten a 180gr bullet out of a "6 barrel slightly over 1600fps that's damn near what the .460 Rowland does with a 185gr at 1575fps, I like the .460 Rowland but it's not a .44 magnum, I like the 10mm but it's not a .41 Magnum, I'm not going to let you downplay the capabilities of the 10mm as if it's a .45 acp, 9mm, or. 380 auto type of cartridge even 180gr .40 S&W can be loaded to 1400fps so that's says a lot!

@joe smith Name what commercial brands that backs .460 Rowland as a mainstream cartridge? And Please don't name Underwood, Double Tap, Buffalo Bore, Grizzly, Fort Scott, Fenix Ammunitions, because all of them are boutique ammunition manufacturers, commercial would be more like S&B, Norma, Winchester, SiG, Remington, Magtech, Fiocchi, Federal Ammunition, Hornady, CCI, Nosler, PMC, Ruger, Aguila, Buinger, Armscor, Tulammo, Barns, Herter's, Speer, blazer, monarch, venom, Super vel, Colt, etc.
@joe smith it's not about what can be obtained commercially, it's about what can be obtained, and it can be obtained, just as .45 super can be loaded to .460 Rowland velocities.
@@Edmondson_Avenue if it’s not about what can be obtained commercially then why are you arguing about exactly that
@@T-SwiftsMaritalAid you would have a better unobtainable point about the ammo ...if the upgrade didn't also let you shoot 45super out of the rowland. If it only shot 460 after the upgrade, I wouldn't do it.
10 mm can’t load 255 gr cast hardened lead to 1400’/sec. I have a Glock 10 mm as well. The hottest cast lead bear loads I can buy for the 10 mm is Buffalo Bore 220 gr at 1200’/sec. Energy = Mass x Velocity squared. It’s just math...
EXCELLENT EXCELLENT EXCELLENT VIDEO!! GLAD I FOUND YOUR CHANNEL I SUBSCRIBED. I L9VE 45ACP AND SUPER! Another RUclips channel called ( Stuck Case ) loads 45 SUPER to ROLAND VELOCITIES AND LEVELS!! Its a marvel to watch!
Thanks! It’s been a passion of ours that we live daily. I picked up a Springfield XDS that I plan to convert to 460 Rowland. More to follow😎
Stuck case is approaching 460 rolling levels he ain't quite there, I watch the man's videos all the time, he has got nephew handloads close to 900 ft lb but never over a thousand like some 460 rolling ammo can get
