    The Wild Boar Fever Film Fest truly captured the heart-pounding excitement of driven boar hunts across Europe. From the strategic planning to the precise marksmanship, every moment was a testament to the skill and dedication of the hunters involved. I couldn't take my eyes off the screen!

    Frans Albrecht, thank you for another excelent wild bore hunting film. You have captured both the over all theory of game management, the fine points of the hunt and not least of all, the thrilling action of the hunt. Your films do much to present our sport in the best light possible, especially to the latest generation that have not been exposed to this tradition.

    Waidmanns Heil!
    I have followed Franz for a year or two, now.....namely because I was so impressed the first time I watched him shoot in one of these boar hunting videos.
    While initially it was his shooting skills that grabbed my attention, later, it was his demeanor and philosophy of hunting sportsmanship and ethics I found most impressive.
    This particular video was the most impressive, yet, wherein I learned much regarding his knowledge base for identifying a particular class of animal on the run/hoof.
    I have never hunted America's feral hogs and, frankly, have no desire to.....it's simply not the same animal....nor does it command equal respect.
    But I would love to hunt Europe's wild boar.
    While living in Berlin in 1967-9, my father successfully hunted Boar and Roe buck.....and I have wanted to return to the land of my Grandfather ever since...
    Unfortunately, short of a miracle, this will never happen.....so I'll have to enjoy hunting them vicariously through these wonderful videos.
    My sincere gratitude for the enjoyment you provide...

    These hunts are wondrous! Extremely challenging. So very rich in tradition, ethics sportsmanship and game management. So very different than in the U.S. If you have never done a European driven hunt for wild boar or pheasants, it should be on your list of must do's. These hunt will leave you changed.
    For those in the U.S who have property, you too can do the same types of items in terms of ethics, European tradition, game respect and management practices, it is so rewarding to do this. Best Regards

      For people in Texas that have property "ethics" such as not shooting females or young boars goes out the window! There are so many and they do millions of dollars in damage that they want every pig killed that we see. Even then then population explosion can't be slowed, much less stopped! Professional trappers who trap entire sounders can't even dent the population! We are completely overrun with wild pigs and no one has yet to come up with a solution for it! They even hunt them with silenced rifles with night vision and hunt them with full automatic weapons out of helicopters!

      I maybe wrong but don't you have to be wealthy to hunt in Europe? I live in Kansas and the hunting and fishing are everywhere .You do not have to be a wealthy person to pursue game in the United States.

      @ymfemptyb6967 2 года назад +3

      @@rikertvonfulton16 you dont rally have to be wealthy. but throughout history it was considered to be a right that only belonged to noble families. they had big hunting grounds and peasants were only allowed to hunt so called "lower or lesser game" (small game) like rabbits, roe deer and birds. but wild boar and red deer were considered what you would call big game. but nowadays there is no gatekeeping anymore mostly. in germany for example the hunting exam and school costs are very high but in other countries around europe not so much.

There is no need to lift the bolt to operate the action & the bolt handle only needs to move about 2.5" which I think makes it the fastest manually operated bolt action rifle currently on the market. Constant motion offsets wind, muscle fatigue and pulse (actually reminded myself of that in recent months while practicing with an air rifle; save so much time and money practicing with air rifles, even as a reloader) This technique could be of extreme benefit hunting big dangerous predators on the ground. Franz, absolutely fantastic and educational video. I can't wait to watch more. I thought (coming from the USA side of things) that gun ownership in Europe was virtually impossible. How do you get permission to own firearms? Also, the fanatical adherence to determining sex, age, and weight (?) prior to taking the shot, would seem to be a deterrent placed on the hunt in the first place and are unheard of in the USA. The boars are considered so dangerous to farming communities and cause untold millions of dollars in damages, states like TX and Louisiana have open hunting on these animals. Why on earth would anyone place any restrictions on these destructive animals that have no predator in nature. Gardis USA

    I greatly respect the ways of boar hunting in Europe. I 100% agree on range time, accuracy, and ethics. In Texas and many parts of the USA, we hunt them however we can. The basis of that is the view on the boar as a problem and controlling it. No matter how many we hunt, whatever the method, trapping, helos, stalking, dogs, stands or tannerite, we cannot cull the herds enough to reverse their growth rates. This is the reason the state of Texas is again looking at mass Euthanizing them with blood hemorrhage bait drops. This is highly controversial and I don’t think they’ve implemented it yet. They are viewed as equal with mice and rats, except the amount of farm damage they do is drastically more.

      Yes, would rather have it the Texan way. Seems impossible to identify sex, age and weight prior to a shot. Almost like the authorities don't really want hunting, but they have to, so they place these restrictions.

      Driven hunts with running shots are not that common in most of North America. Also what he meant when he said Americans don't have the same taste for wild game he didn't mean the hunters, he meant the general population buying game meat.

      I was just stating fact. As someone who had hunted most of America and lives here, I think I know what our ethics are. Everyone I have hunted with has been able to take running shots on deer drives and good at flying targets as well. It may not be law everywhere in America that you have to use all the meat but it is extremely frowned upon to not use the whole animal and have much respect for them. I wasn't trying to take away from your hunting or hunters.

    • @olafspetzki
      @olafspetzki 3 года назад

      No they don't. In Franz' homeland Germany for big game you need a E100 > 2000 Joule and most .30-30 ammo is below that (except some like the "Lever-revolution"). But than again in parts of Germany you have to use lead-free projectiles which most of the time results in a slight drop in E100.
      And since e.g. in Germany you check with blood hounds every shot fired that did not result in game dropping dead within visual range most hunters prefer having a little more power than a barely legal cartrige can provide. On a driven hunt game is full with adrenaline and they often go surprizingly far with a deadly shot.

      For me the principal difference is between the weapon , meanwhile american don't care to empty a clip of 30 cartridges on a deer , meanwhile in Western Europe the best hunter use a bolt action rifle and the "bad shooter" use a semi-auto.

      @@afisto6647
      Um, since there is a limit on deer in most states, most people don't even use high capacity mags or semi-auto rifles for deer hunting. Depending on the season, the majority of hunters tend to use either bolt guns, muzzle loaders or bows.
      The semi-autos and high capacity magazines are mostly used for hog hunting, and since they are considered a pest rather than a game animal in most states, there is no limit, so we try killing as many as possible, and a semi-auto with a 30rd mag makes that task much easier.
      So, the high number of rounds has little to do with accuracy or, "bad shooters" as you put it, It's just easier to kill more hogs with more rounds and less reloading, that's just common sense lol.
      Oh, and it's called a magazine, not a clip, big difference lol.

      @@afisto6647 I've guided many European hunters on Western North American game, mostly bear and moose. Getting these hunters to stalk prey, or shoot over 100m is extremely difficult. We don't hunt from stands, or use dogs and a single shot is all you usually get as the terrain and dense conifer woods make recovering a wounded animal sometimes impossible. I do enjoy knocking the elitist euro super hunters down a peg on occasion. I won't shoot at moving big game, hogs excepted, so maybe I'm a bad hunter? Waidmanns Heil.
