Carlos, you are like me...worry before, and then later you see it isn't that bad. You are not alone! These costumes are so interesting, from hearing the history to discussing the tailoring. Thank you both for the opportunity to learn about these.
I love your future program ideas. Thank you for an entertaining “15 minutes”! And yes, CHARTS are a good thing to learn because they are much easier to follow.
Thanks for the video. I got 2 heels done on a pair of socks. Loved the "charts" bit... remembering why Arne was being so careful... made me smile. Charts are much better than the written instructions. Less room for error.
I loved your mouse story! I have one for you that my good friend I met at USAF basic training told me about from her childhood. She grew up on a farm with her foster parents in Washington state. This girl was beautiful, had such a kind, sweet, and gentle nature, and was one of the very best friends I ever had. Well, the story goes like this. She was in the barn one day, found and caught a mouse. She thought it was so cute and was so excited that, while she was holding it, she squeezed a bit too hard and its eyes popped out and, unfortunately, she killed it. I thought this story was quite funny, knowing her personality and understanding her level of excitement. Of course, she felt guilty for harming the poor mouse. Your mouse story reminded me of this one. Good memories, I'm sure; not because of harming small animals, but because of the irony, especially in the case of my friend. Thanks for sharing your stories.
I learned knitting from charts and prefer them a lot to written instructions, just like Arne. It's so much easier to understand a pattern, and to know it by heart when seeing it on a chart in front of you.
So much laughter and fun listening to both of you. Just love all the stories you had to tell this episode. And yes please to the knit-along, that would be exciting. Take care and keep warm and safe.
So glad you were interested in the Great Back Yard Bird Count. Your birds sound so intersting. Just like holding knitting needles, holding your binoculars will become easier with practice. Thanks for a relaxing interval, always enjoyable.
Arne and Carlos you are the highlight of my week. You are informative and funny and the idea of a knit along for the dickie gives us all something to look forward to. Thank you both. Continued health and please pet Freya and Helmer for me
So glad Arne said the lace knit is easier then the color work. I am a beginner to knitting so looking forward to the knit along. Working swatches so far.
I haveva old giant maple tree in my front yard i hang bird feeders on the branches. I also made your bird feeders sacks, I get so many different birds. Blue Jay's, red headed woodpeckers, sapsuckers, finches, doves, snowbirds. That is just a hand full that I get in the winter. As the season changes more colorful birds will come. They are so enjoyable to watch. I put cat food out in the morning for my cats n what is left over. The blue Jay's come and eat right off my front porch.
I love the idea of a Dickey design Knitalong! I especially like that you've brought knitting a dickey back into fashion. I used to knit dickeys 50 years ago.
You made my dream come true today when you mentioned dessert …telsudebun…. We had this in our childhood and have been looking for a recipe for years. Sadly all the family members who knew how to make it are gone. Can’t wait. Thank you for being a bright light in Covid time. I’ve learned so much about Norway, my grandfathers native land, tackled Norwegian knitting technique and ventured into stranded knitting. Can’t wait to return to Norway.
Arne you were very giddy and naughty today, thanks for the laugh. I love the idea of the knit along., no matter what you end up calling it! Please give us plenty of notice to get the wool and needles necessary. I also love the look of Arne's new jumper, I'd love a loose one with tight sleeves and a big polo neck.
We call the shoe pokeys as clamp ons or Trick traxx... Arne is a killer. Great!! Thanks for sharing your world with us. Rest well. Stay safe and I love sitting a knitting while you tell me stories. You both are such a treat.try using ketchup to polish the brass or copper
I live in a ski town in the Colorado Rockies. Our streets in town get very icy and dangerous, and I have avoided several bad falls by wearing Swedish Ice Bug boots. They are warm and cozy inside, and the spikes on the outside dig into the ice and give very good, stable footing.
I love you two together - - - I want to say: Carlos, your jacket, just relax and put yourself in Arne's hands. This is something that you can see from being the observer. You make me so happy when I visit with you. Relax, Carlos! Turn yourself over to Arne and take him to 4 thrift stores as a thank you.
Hi. Arne and Carlos. I always enjoy to watch both of you. Your stories are amazing. I have learned a lot about knitting. Now I knit two ways, English style and Norwegian style thanks to your tutorials. Well, friends. I saw the beautiful chandelier that you got and I think it’s bronze. I am not a specialist in antiques but it looks like it is very old. To get it back to it golden color it can be polish with a special polish machine or a special polish material for bronze, like the one used for silver, but you should ask to a antique restorer or who polish bronze. Hope you get it back to it golden color and can decorate your house with it .
Crampons. i used those in Alaska in the snow. They are wonderful😊 I hope you can do the Podcasts while on the road. We will love traveling snd experiencing with you❤️
here in central florida it is going up to 80, but still 50 at nite, this is PERFECT, the house of stone gets cold at nite, and keeps the house cool during the day. these are my favorite days of winter in central florida (i grew up in most southern point of canada which was too cold for me!)
I am so glad your 15minutes are always on an elastic band! Enjoyed your podcast and the slip of the tongue had me roaring with laughter, the best tonic ever. Thank you
You never FAIL with your Sit and Knit for a Bit episodes, you EXCEED my 15 minute expectations! ♥ Arne as a killer just had me in stitches, you two are so funny! Thank you for brightening my day yet again.
Alloys such as brass and bronze contain copper, which can oxidize with the acid and moisture on your skin to create copper chloride - the green tinge! As old as they are they might be bronze but brass would be more common. Brass has a polish that removes that green and brings back the patina. I also love bird watching, spotted a spoonbill a few years ago and have not seen one since! Right now Iowa is hosting some migrating White Pelicans, big birds!
I love listening and watching your podcast while I knit in the afternoon in a sunny living room. It is a nice change from the disturbing news we have been hearing lately. I feel like we are friends catching up every week!
I have that bird book, I love it. I like knitting from charts as like you said, easier than reading lots of words. I collect old knitting patterns and have a lovely clothing book from the 30/40s. I agree about the tiny pictures in them. I enjoy the surprise of knitting some of them. Thank you for sharing your life and time with us. X
You can polish copper with salt and lemon juice. As long as the copper doesn’t get wet, it won’t oxidize and turn green. I know I should learn to read charts, and I will at some point, but I’m very happy to read written instructions 🙂 Thanks for another lovely chat!
Your brioche sweater is beautiful, I'll have to ho back and see if you provided a pattern or "schart"! Your little owls are such a wee blessing, I like the copper in verdigris color unpolished
Mice and snakes, ewwwww! Now birds are a different story. I love birds! When it comes to patterns, I prefer written instructions but I would like to learn the chart method. It is hard to do but I am restraining myself not to make a shart joke! I think a knit along would be an excellent idea. You have so many great ideas coming our way. Yippee! Keep them coming. Keep the funny stories coming out too! We all need a good laugh. I hope you find out about brass cleaning. I have a pair off candle holders that are beginning to green. When I see your beautiful knitting, I turn green! 😄😁😆😅🤣😂
The pattern for the Dickie would make a stunning jumper or cardigan. Being an Australian I have never worn a Dickie. Thank you for being so generous in sharing your knitting, crochet and stitching talents.
So glad your back sit and knit for a bit is like a big cosy hug. Love listening to your story’s . I’m knitting a horse at the moment really enjoying it
Love you both so much! Regarding the copper sconces, they can be polished and sealed, if you want them to look newer. You can polish them and then use liver of sulfur to return the patina (vs the green look) to more of an antique look, too, if you like. I'm sure RUclips has videos on how to do it!
Hubby recommends a professional acid dip. Send to a professional and don't do it yourselves. My hubby worked in reproduction furniture and cleaning antiques. 👍
I love your stories! I have an Arne like story where I too was raised in the city like Carlos and when I was a child we used to visit my godmother and her family on a farm. One time I had a very sweet little purse that I brought with me. My godmother showed me a nest of baby mice. When she wasn’t looking I put them in my purse. Before we went home I went to show my mother and the little ones had died. Ugh. My mother was not very impressed but also happy I didn’t bring live mice home.
Hello. Great episode as usual. I use white/clear vinegar and table salt to clean copper. Use an old tooth brush since those are so detailed. I hope that helps. I just love the way you two are so active with trying to help the world. Any chance you could contact Putin and stop him from being a horrible human. Love to you both. I prefer charts. I use colored pencils on the different symbols and it helps me memorize them faster. A knit along would be fun.
I have a friend with an owl in a tree in her backyard. I have tons of wildlife, but I have not seen or heard an owl yet. Your area is relaxing and glorious. I wish I could teleport to visit. Ha! Ha! Ha! but, warmer weather, of course.
I agree. Charts are so much easier than written instructions. It may take a few rows to learn the charts but once learned, easy to do.
👍😁🥰Thank you!🐿🦔🍀
So lovely to sit and knit for your extended 15 minutes. 🇬🇧
Love the patina! No ruined... character!
The informal format of Sit and Knit for a Bit is my most favorite! Thank you for putting yourselves out there 💗💗💗
Written pleasssssse, No charts for me. Thank you
Carlos, you are like me...worry before, and then later you see it isn't that bad. You are not alone! These costumes are so interesting, from hearing the history to discussing the tailoring. Thank you both for the opportunity to learn about these.
Pure joy when we can help in nature. Hugs WAHx

I love your future program ideas. Thank you for an entertaining “15 minutes”! And yes, CHARTS are a good thing to learn because they are much easier to follow.
Great!
Yay, love your cooking episodes; such a delight. Thank you for sharing your adventures; stay safe.
Thanks for the video. I got 2 heels done on a pair of socks. Loved the "charts" bit... remembering why Arne was being so careful... made me smile. Charts are much better than the written instructions. Less room for error.
Thank you for your feedback Laura!

That's a knit along that I would actually consider doing. Dickies are great to wear when working in the garden when it's cold.
I love the idea of a Dickey design Knitalong! I especially like that you've brought knitting a dickey back into fashion. I used to knit dickeys 50 years ago.
Congratulations to Norway for all the metals they won at the Olympic! The athletes were amazing!

Always enjoy your podcast. I would say ditto to carlie's comment. Will not be going on cruise. But I will enjoy the pictures.
Cool idea for a kal! 💙💗
Equal parts vinegar, flour and salt to clean copper. Leave for 30 mins then rub off. Great episode. Thank you.
