  • In this video Rich covers bypassing, clearing, and rendering edits in Pro Tools when using Melodyne and ARA. First he discusses the ways to know if Melodyne is already on a track, and how to tell if the clip has been edited. Next, he demonstrates how to bypass Melodyne on a clip, an entire track, or across the whole session using the new ‘Compare’ function. From there Rich explains how to clear edits or remove Melodyne from individual notes, clips, or the whole track. Finally, he illustrates the reasons and techniques to commit or render the audio files to save CPU or for long term archiving.

Great series of videos, thanks. Is there a pro tools keyboard shortcut to bypass melodyne so we can easily compare tuned and untuned without lots of mouse clicks. Something like Shift+A for bypassing all plug ins on a track?

Cool. It looks much better than logic integration. In logic you never know if a clip has been edited or not and what will happen if you move it

If you use the ProTools "Export Clips as Files" command to a clip that has Melodyne edits, will those edits get rendered to the exported audio file?

They should, yes. But please double-check with our support team here: www.celemony.com/support - Thanks!

    Great tips thanks!
I have old sessions with melodyne inserted as a plugin. Is there a way to convert edits I made in the plugin, to ARA in protools (without to have to commit the plugin)

      Unfortunately this isn’t possible.

Thank you so much for these videos! Running into an issue lately that when I render a clip, the clip gain level of that clip almost doubles. Any ideas as to why this is happening? Thanks again.

Sounds like there’s something funky going on with your audio routing. Please feel free to contact our support team for help. See here: www.celemony.com/support

Question: Once a clip is rendered via Melodyne....Render, is it possible to use the upper-left compare symbol to hear the original audio? And if you wanted the original audio to exist as a separate track, is it possible to do so after Melodyne was instantiated and used for edit and render? I am thinking that the clip list shows the audio clip before melodyne was ever used and one could create a new audio track and then drag this clip onto the newly created track. Please confirm....

Im getting this error code in protools when I try and render a clip. Could not complete the Render Clip(s) with Melodyne command because Access violation occurred, unable to read location: 0x0000000000000000

Sorry to hear that. It sounds like you should contact Avid’s tech support, as it’s an error message in Pro Tools.

@@celemony I ended up just opening melodyne as its own program and doing it there then exporting it back into protools which worked fine but I havent been able to get it to work in protools.

Great videos. Long time Melodyne user from day 1. I'm using PT Studio and have Melodyne Editor. The ARA version in my PT upgrade is working great. I have one issue. "Saving ARA Data" message keeps popping up about every minute. Is that a PT thing, Melodyne thing or a bug. My auto back up in PT Pref. was set for 5 minutes. It's happening sooner than that. Any thoughts

It’s the way that Pro Tools saves ARA data, so yeah, it’s a PT thing.

    Just today 27/10/2023
"Some Melodyne track data can't be found. Melodyne edits on affected tracks may not playback correctly." Ahhhhhrrg! Protools 2023.6 so don´t believe, render everything before colosing your session. This can´t be an "industry standard like this.
