DELHI - Connaught Place l Gurudwara Sri Bangla Sahib l Sacred Heart Cathedral l Gol Dak Khana GPO

A trip to Delhi is incomplete without visiting some of its many historical sites. From history to architecture, I'm always in awe of the many sites & often re-visit most of them when I'm in the city. On this trip I discovered some more of its many hidden gems.
A short visit to Connaught Place one evening took me to the beautiful Gurudwara Sri Bangla Sahib. One of the most prominent places of worship, this 17th century shrine is dedicated to the memory of Guru Har Krishan, the eighth Sikh Guru.
A short walk away lies the Sacred Heart Cathedral, the largest church in Delhi. Together with St. Columba's School, and the Convent of Jesus and Mary school, it occupies a total area of approximately 14 acres near the south end of Bhai Vir Singh Marg Road in Connaught Place. Construction began in 1930, financed by the colonial officers of the British Empire.
Opposite the church is the Gol Dak Khana. In operation since 1885, during the British Raj, the GPO was built near the Old Delhi Railway Station near the Kashmiri Gate in the old city wall; it is the oldest post office in Delhi. Built in the neoclassical style of colonial architecture, the two-storey building's facade is divided into five bays by engaged columns of the classical Tuscan order on the ground storey, and by pilasters on the upper storey.
