Glad to see you dipping into this band. You won't find a thing to dislike from this group. They dip into different genres, and are AMAZING musicians and performers. Definitely suggest checking out more. So much to recommend, so I'll start with "Honeybee," "Cellophane," "Diamonds," "Overdrive," "Transform," "Turn Back the Clock," and frankly, just about any of their stuff. Don't be shy about it. Definitely cannot go wrong.
I know SPG isn't the biggest band around but they've got a sound for just about anyone. Lyin' Awake is among the first set of studio songs by the newest member, Bryan Barbarin (Character: Zer0). The 3 main members of the group tend to switch of lead vocals for songs, and typically are singers on ones they've written themselves. Bryan brings a whole load of new funk to the group. Another good song featuring him is "Shattered Stars."
As I've said elsewhere regarding SPG, a way to describe the current lineup is The Spine, The Hips, and The Soul. "The Spine" refers to the character name of the deep voiced member heard on this song. "The Hips" refers to Rabbit, the character who had the higher vocals, and her ever-dangerous hip-sways and shakes. "The Soul", well, that should be self-evident after this song.
For people who may not be familiar with SPG at all, they are essentially a mix of music and comedy, with all members portraying Robots, with full makeup on stage. 2 of the current members actually did train as mimes, and the members of the band tend to include robotic movements into their songs and bits.
As I've said, they have a variety of musical genres but if you had to give each member a single one where they tend to shine, I'd say Spine (David Bennett) favors the cowboy/western vibe, Rabbit (Isabella Bennett) has the 50s/60s rock bops, and Zer0 has the funk. But all of them are versatile and contribute to the others songs well.
Oh, Bryan took the mime classes, too. They met him in college. That man brought in a boatload of talent.
@@BeeWhistler *shrug* every time I've heard them tell of Bryan it's mostly like "oh we met him out here and like, helped push a car" kinda meetings :P But I also know there's stuff I either can't (patreon teired content) or haven't seen.
I love Spines old western style compositions best, but now I'm also really really loving Zero (ever since Marshmallow Christmas). Hatchworth was fun, but I could tell when his voice was getting a bit strained after the first year. As for Bunny, I like that she's into drawing and doing other things, but her composition styles are something that I have to be in a certain mood for.

I think this is one of their best songs. Shattered Stars is another song with this guy as main vocalist. Intertwined is his most recent song. Hes the newest member of this band. He fronts another band named The Routine.
SPG puts Rounds in a couple of their songs.
