Pinch harmonics are made by the player, the effects or amps just bring them out more. A skill to develop, and I'm sure RUclips has plenty of tutorials that will show you how.
To those who are saying this sounds bad or nasty . Make sure you're settings are correct. You need a decent interface and asio4all . The sound clips aren't far from what they sound like to me. And I use a cheaper schecter guitar . It can have singing awesome leads or beautiful effected clean tones
I got the guitar rig 4 and it's awesome. Good for playing like a pro. But carrying a laptop on stage is quite cumbersome. I got Amplitube for iPhone and it's even better. I could even mount the iPhone on the edge of the guitar using mounting pods for convenient operation.
For people who are totally new to Amp sim softwares like Guitar Rig and Amplitube.....you can try the $10 GuitarLink (generic) off Ebay ...it works pretty well for its purpose, but you cannot record with it, but I swear to god it beats most guitar FX out there when it comes to sound quality.....And If you want to step up, that's where USB Audio interface comes into play, it will sound better and has lesser noise and distorted signals....I had my LEXICON ALPHA for $100, unbeatable value for what it does! And I'm only using a PC speaker
@ballaststoffel2 It's all about your sound card. If you get the guitar rig kontroller, for example, I believe there is a built-in card that keeps latency pretty low (like any decent sound card would).
Just my sweet little Tascam US-122 MKII. (I'm a poor student :-) ) There are no really good metal-tone presets. At the moment I go for "Pure Rammfire G" and then I increase the lows and highs with the Parametric EQ (i just have the demo). Sounds pretty good in D.
additionally you need an average guitar for a decent sound. I use a Shecter too - for 600 euros (normal price-range I'd say) - and it sounds like in the video (the clean-sounds and solo-sounds are brilliant!). It's a bit hard to get a good metal-sound with GuitarRig but it still works fine with a good guitar. :-)
you might know this already, but you can download fender universal ASIO driver. It should work on any sound card. There's also ASIO4ALL universal driver that does the same thing but it didn't work on one laptop for me.
Just downloaded Guitar Rig 5 Player .. I use it with my M-Audio Fast Track MKII .. this software is beautiful, easy and very powerful. I really would buy Pro but 180€ is way too much for a student :\
hey!i have the guitar rig control .. and it has a midi in -out .....but you can use the sounds of guitar rig for your midi piano .you can do that with recording software (cubase for example ) [use the guitar rig 5 as vst ]
do i have to buy the full version in order to load a preset/impulse? (I think they're the same (preset/impulse) I'm not sure.) is that the only way I can use the chain feature too?
I have a laptop with GR5. Use a usb cable to either my Personus AudioBox interface or the Rig Control 3. From the outs I go into a Carvin TS100 power amp and then out to 2 Marshall 1936 2x12 cabs. I'm seriously working on this being my main "Gig Rig." The sound I get from this is pretty much unmatched by any of my many rigs. The only one that comes some what close is the Axe Fx II. The only real problem I have is I wish there was an alternate view that would show just the patch name and parameters in a full screen mode so it's easier to see on stage...
Might have to disagree with you on that Kyle. I have acouple banks of patches set up for a higher volume ... yes they did thin out a hair but not really that much. Just for the hell of it I added a Behringer xenyx 1202fx before the power amp to control the levels.I sprang this rig on my sound tech and he was floored. I had a couple un desirable patches where the delay or verb was too over the top but it was the first time out...
Lance Axeman yeah actually ive been getting some pretty reasonable sounds from G5 too. it has an overall synthetic - ness to it.. that i honestly cant hear when i listen to Axe FX. But who can afford that stuff, wow. on that note, probably the best "synthetic" rig ive heard is my guitarists Fender Mustang III Stack. i hate to admit it, but that f'n thing is amazing. I love my Mesa Boogie, but man i think about what he spent and how much versatility it has... i mean... crap, the whole stack cost about $800 tops LOL its ridiculously cool
The cleans are great, it has some interesting fx that may or may not come with a good daw or guitar pedals. I cannot for the life of me dial in a good distorted sound. I guess my Peavey 6505 + spoiled me? Or the real thing just cannot be replicated close enough.
@messengercrow most interfaces should be compatible aslong as you can jack a lead up to it like most interfaces can anyway, or you might be able to link it up through a digital amp via USB
Yeah that's the one thing I haven't really been able to achieve as well as I wanted. A good metal tone. I've messed around with a few settings and have found some playable settings, but guitar rig doesn't really feel like a super high gain monster. Still very good software though. what kind of interface do you use?
Did you guys make any changes to "Live Mode"? I love Guitar Rig 4, but Live Mode seriously sucks when you use it live. Also, will you guys be coming out with a new Rig Kontrol any time soon? Thanks.
Would it be possible to use a bass guitar as a midi instrument through NI massive?, for a say a dirty electro synth sound? also be able to set it up for live use? and to be able to switch back to guitar rig for non synth sounds with an external midi controller, like a programmable stomp box?
Hello, it is a great software better than amplitube for example, i tried it a few time ago in a friend's pc (should be the 5.2 version) , but i noticed there was a kind of annoying graphic issue : when i selected with the mouse a knob or a parameter often it missed to show the actual value to have the reference to be changed. I am almost sure that happened when i try to click on effects that was not visible among those showed in full hight of the window , so effects that needs to scroll down the window to become visible. Is it a known bug? is there a version in which has been solved?
Is this good to use it in live situations? Lets say I connect my guitar to a laptop with this software and then straight to the PA. Can this work or is it better to use an good amp and mic?
NI, how to connect the guitar to PC for a great quality? why don't you ever talk about that? Does it need an interface? What interface is compatible with GR5
Can anyone tell me how to get rid of the clean guitar sound I get underneath the distortion. I can hear the nice distortion sound but it's getting ruined by the clean sound underneath it that never goes away.
I have a Guitar Rig 3 and it's ok. I have no need to upgrade and i don't want to upgrade cause the sustain cannot even compare to my BOSS GT3 guitar processor. I mean, when i hit a note in Guitar Rig it lasts for a certain amount of time which is not long enough in my opinion. But when i'm playing through my BOSS GT3 that note lasts looong, which is awesome for metal/rock solos. Of course both can't be compared but just to give you an idea. I do like some effects in Guitar Rig though.
please update to a 6 version, you have the most decent cleans simulators, but compared to bias you are going down, you need to update the effects too, compared to others amp sim guitar rig is very musical not harsh sounding.. but you need to upgrade
I have a question if any one has some insight. Say youve got all the tones you want and got your recording done, how do you then manage to emulate those same tones using amps n pedal when you are playing live? Do u just get as close as you can to the tone of your record? I cant imagine the misdion and cost it would be if trying to recreate same or similar sound whilst your with the band n playing live. & i expect fans wouldnt like it if theyte used to hearing your revord, but they go see u live n its the songs they know but with completely different tone.... Probably an easy solution to a stupid question but ive never used anything like this before..... Looks like a sick product though so think I'll have to get it just for playing n recording stuff at home. Is it user friendly for a complete noob?
They have a free version with limited equipment, but it has a demo of lots of presets. I started using it today, and immediately ordered one of their interfaces which comes with the pro version free in UK (£79). But I need a new interface anyway, so a no brainier. Regarding live, I’m no expert, but I can’t see why you wouldn’t be able to use a laptop and interface to get this straight out to a pa?
Yes it will. You can integrate it in you Daw und input Midi sounds. But you need to give some virtual instrument (most likeley guitar) to the midi before add the signal to guitar rig
+Peter Erhardt Separate. If you want both, you might as well buy Komplete 10 and get more than just those 2 engines. Worth the $$. Komplete Ultimate is a Thou.
I got an e-mail to download guitar rig 5 LE but the link just leads me to the reverb homepage. Upset that i cannot download it after spending 2 grand on an sg
Can this be used to replace a guitar amplifier and a physical pedal board? Would it be possible to connect guitar-->audio interface--->computer. With outputs to monitors and use it for small room practice?
John Jack Doe I use Acid Pro 7 to record. I have tried using Amplitube (Another PC based guitar rig) as my tone while I recorded with Acid 7. But I haven't had good results, system hangs or locks up. I use ASIO 4 All in both programs--any suggestions to my problom-is Guitar Rig Pro better?
im new at this. so I buy the download for guitar 5. What other equipment do I need to purchase to connect the guitar to my computer, and computer to amp ect...?
Buy yourself a Focusrite Scarlett 2i2 audio interface. It's the best entry/intermediate level audio interface for guitars and mics, at around $250 or so. (Don't buy a guitar link audio interface, those are pieces of shit). Connect your guitar cable into the Scarlett and that's it. If you want to record, get yourself Reaper or Studio One 3(DAW/Digital Audio Workstation). Alternatively, buy a Presonus Audiobox USB audio interface and you get Studio One Artist for free. That's it!
You will probably need an external soundcard that supports this program. You won't need an amp since the amp is "inside" the program, all you need is headphones/speakers
dcag76 You need audio interface, most youtube guitarist use focusrite audio interface to connect ur guitar to ur pc.. no need to install anything, just plug and play :D
I have a problem when saving my tracks. I hit the Save button on the post tapedeck and then appears something like ''Sorry, the file couldn't be loaded'' what can I do?
so is it really worth it? i got aplitube 3 and guitar rig5 also bias and revalver 4 they all have their momments is it worth it to upgrade 2500!!! to a axe fx 2 xl? really is it that much better? i cant find a comp axe fx 2 xl vs guitar rig 5 or amplitube 3 etc i personally love guitar rig 5 anf i got them all ( software any way)
don candiani Depends what you're trying to do. AxeFX is in a league of it's own; if you buy one you'll probably never have to get anything else for the rest of your life...but keep in mind they're also extremely expensive and downright tricky to use...I've been working with computers since I was 6, learned applesoft basic when I was 9, and coming up with my own AxeFX effect chains and getting them to work with my MIDI controller took a ton of time...it was not easy to say the least. Guitar Rig / Amplitube / Etc are decent, but I've found that high gain stuff really does not sound all that good compared to the AxeFX or Kempers.

Still one of the best guitar tone software even after 9 years. Thanks NI for such a great software.
Yamaha THR10 in bypass mode - > guitar rig 5 -> yamaha THR10 audio in!
Wow, amazing sound
Heaviest metal crunch authentic tones I have ever heard modeled!
9 years and counting, Bring some new updates guys! Where the hell is the passion!!!
Do you need a guitar?
Truly Blessed for guitar rig? If so then yeah, you need a guitar for guitar rig
@@mar990 thx for the help
I'm prety sure literally any input will work.
There it is
5 years guys!
Come on, you have to get a new version out!
Please do!
Do it!
7 years and still waiting..... i use loads of NI products but 7 years..... not good. Really guitar rig 5 was ahead of the curve too in many ways....
im mean really
Guitar rig 6 released in 2021
I just bought this the other day. It was on sale for $99. I just had to do it ;)
Today is the last day for the sale 11/26. RUN!!!!!!
sounds very nice and the versatility
is absolutely amazing!
keep up the outstanding work.
... but nothing beats a real tube amp!!!
Pinch harmonics are made by the player, the effects or amps just bring them out more. A skill to develop, and I'm sure RUclips has plenty of tutorials that will show you how.
The best in the world, since I met in 2012

Cool! im waiting for my mk2 delivery at my door cant wait 2 give this a try :)
needs more bass amps
its guitar rig, not bass rig
Does it have bass amps?
I think you don't have creativity
I have this and i'm liking it alot!

yes you do. try m-audio fastrack
@kristofreynders Basicaly just plug your Guitar lead into the Mic socket on your PC/Laprop you'll need a 1/4 - 1/8 converter though.
While I do like TH2 better.GR5 Pro sounds great. The tube amp emulations are very realistic. They respond and feel like the real deal.
Yes surely you can...
Amazing

This or the yamaha thr10? both are emulations but which would be better?
im guessing this will all work fine through line in on pc
looking for something that works like an effects pedal im guessing this is it
For the people complaining that they get no sound, you need to download ASIO drivers.
Can you use it for programming guitar tunes as well or is it only for "shaping" the sound that comes dirictly from a guitar?
can you use guitar rig in tandem with other native instrument products to say use your guitar as a controller for absynth?
this contains guitar instruments also?

They make no changes in sound

@Bluedrake42 Was that just an excuse to mention that you have a $10,000 studio?
maybe you have abad signal?
Try double clicking the gate at the top to adjust for any signal noise.
Never heard of a scarlett 2i4......
Pardon my ignorance, but can more than one person use this at once, like a whole band?
Is this good to use it in live situations? Lets say I connect my guitar to a laptop with this software and then straight to the PA. Can this work or is it better to use an good amp and mic?
I know people who do that and ive heard it works pretty good.
Buy a real amp for live stuff. It's a mission to set up your laptop with PA systems, just to get a loud sound.
NI, how to connect the guitar to PC for a great quality? why don't you ever talk about that? Does it need an interface? What interface is compatible with GR5
So it has a lot of guitar effects on here, but no actual guitar recordings, is that correct?
Is it possible to usw this without mic simulations? Just room sound through "ears"?
is this the Hopes And Dreams guitar vst??
Can anyone tell me how to get rid of the clean guitar sound I get underneath the distortion. I can hear the nice distortion sound but it's getting ruined by the clean sound underneath it that never goes away.
@crisvstuper you record the audio and video separately, then put them together in a video editor.
I have a Guitar Rig 3 and it's ok. I have no need to upgrade and i don't want to upgrade cause the sustain cannot even compare to my BOSS GT3 guitar processor.

HOW do i use this ? do i hook up the PC to my amp ? and plug my guitar into my PC ?
@zab666 Vice versa imo. Except it's difficult to get a subtle overdrive effect without using an extra amp

Depends what you're trying to do. Yeah, there's a program by native called: guitar rig 5 player.
It's free but you'll have a lot less amps and stuff
can you use a midi piano on guitar rig 5??
