    Crohn’s - yuk. Sorry to hear that, and hope the treatment works quickly. Thank you for sharing and reminding us ‘don’t wait too long to start getting investigated’. For anyone wondering, having cameras in your pooptubes is grim, but it’s only a short procedure and you can ask for full sedation (which is actually really nice) if you’re feeling anxious. Either way, it’s much better to know what’s happening than to try and ignore what you suspect is a creeping tide!!

    I'm glad you're going to be getting treatment! Keep taking it easy as much as you need, Dan. Even if you never make another video for us again, here or for a developer, know that the knowledge and entertainment you've provided have been invaluable to many, and we can always come back to what you've already made. Do what you need to for yourself, that will always come first

  • @Septimius

    The level of effort I'm used to from your videos made me seriously think that after you said "it would take someone a very long time to set that up", you would then say "so anyway, I did that, and here's the result". It's not like I was expecting that going into the video, but rather that you are of the calibre that I would not be surprised if you went ahead and did it to put the argument to rest. That's a testiment to your knowledge and amazing skill of educating others. Best wishes on your health. Crohn's disease is no joke, but it must be said that it has found a formidable foe.

    Feel better Dan, chronic illness is no fun and unfortunate to say Im right there with ya, but doing better as of late thanks to a new medication! Im hoping you'll be joining me shortly! For a couple of years I've been watching you while I was going through some really hard times. I was using the energy and time I had spare to really learn about how to mix and everything "under the hood" thanks to some rabbit holes you sent me down! Im no where near the engineer you are, but I use a science/evidence based approach inspired by your videos in everything I do and it has yielded some really wonderful results that my local music scene has really appreciated. Im small time still but I really just wanted to take the time to thank you for what you have done for me and many others, just by simply making these videos, low effort or not. You have given an entire generation of prospective engineers and wealth of resources, knowledge, and a solid foundation for a working methodology in the studio.

    RUclips videos in this category are full of click bait, creators that sound credible (but contradict each other), those selling mixing courses, etc.
    Most seem to be just click bait with information that is not practically useful, and often wrong.
    Those that are credible are selling course or plug-ins.
    I don't know why, but whenever your videos pop up I don't feel any need to validate what you say. Even other RUclipsrs reference you in their videos "If you want to see a true master of Plugin Doctor, see Dan Worral".

    • @DanWorrall
      @DanWorrall  10 месяцев назад +3

      My issue is with the wait, not the quality of care. Waiting lists were already soaring well before COVID. I think maybe hundreds of millions spent on fraudulent VIP lane PPE might be more salient than a few tiktok videos, no? Btw: extremely offensive comment to make to someone whose partner works for the NHS. She, and her colleagues, risked their lives during the pandemic, for ungrateful Tory bastards like you.

    • @MrJC1
      @MrJC1 10 месяцев назад +2

      @@DanWorrallMy mother worked for the NHS as a mental health nurse. Lol. She agree's. I am not a tory. Why do you keep accusing me of being one whenever I comment? That is offensive bud, making assumptions about people. The NHS has more money than it ever has and still manages to misuse it. It is just a fact of the matter to anyone who does any serious reading about it. I am not going to lower to your level and keep this going like last time. Good grief.
      EDIT: And you cannot blame the tories because you had to wait. They do not personally run the hospitals / GP's. They have upper management for that. Many of them cream off the top. Direct your anger at them, not me. I too have had to wait, and most stuff gets done over the phone now. That is the doctors doing that though, not Rishi Sunak - who I cannot stand by the way.

      I will tell you a short sort of... story, if you even care to read it. At university years back doing Computer Science, a project of ours was to try and automate aspects of the NHS so doctors didn't have to see patients in person for many aspects of their care. This I saw as a disaster and I made that clear at the time but still had to do the assignment obviously. And it was well before c19. So this has been on the cards for awhile mate. Sorry to have to say it. It will get worse too, no matter which party is at the helm. Other than that I will leave you with this, good luck with the new medication and I hope you get well soon.

      You sound like a Tory to me. You know that 'record NHS funding' includes all those billions they gave to their mates for PPE that got burnt?

    • @MrJC1
      @MrJC1 10 месяцев назад

      @@DanWorrall I sound like a tory? How so? No I mean over all the years. Before they were doing it labour were and then before them tories were again. Rofl. Anyway I agree that it was a total waste of money, but labour would have done the same too. What you have to remember is there is no point being tribal about party support. Everyone in that parliament is p**sing in the same pot. The winners are always them, the losers are always us, and nothing that either side wants actually ever gets implemented unless the majority say so. Which they don't. As we see time and time again. But people have short memories it seems.

    Hey Dan, thank you for everything. Even tho i don't always understand your videos, i do understand that you share valuable knowledge and wisdom. I also have been diagnosed with Crohn disease but i am in a pretty good state since more than 10 years. Just to share with you that there is hope for long lasting recovery. I wish you the very best

    You gave so much actually useful knowledge to your community, I'm glad to hear that we somehow helped you back. Get better soon, Dan.
    Regarding the topic of the video: I agree with everything you said and yet still find it beneficial to work at 96k.
    Many plugins (sine soft clippers, light distortions, compressors, etc...) don't need more than a x2 oversampling to make aliasing inaudible - at 96k, those plugin don't need oversampling at all, just ultrasonic filtering. This means that by using IIR filters (Airwindows Hypersonic for instance) to remove the ultrasonic content you solve the pre-ringing issue of FIR filters (which are by far the most common topology in oversampling algorithms). I's like a cheating IIR oversampling - plus IIR filters are easier on the CPU (which compensates for all the plugins that wouldn't need OS anyway and suck twice the requested power out of your machine).
    The second advantage is that EQ clamping has never been of my concern.
    But again, I agree with you: sample rate isn't about good sounding, it's about CPU management and workflow - and your listeners have no interest in either.

    Dan, glad to hear you finally have a diagnosis and are on the road to whatever recovery is feasible.
    I've been trying to figure out the best way to go about doing the time stretch proof myself. Thoughts were to record at 192 (highest i have available) then resample downward to 44.1 with stops along the way at the usual suspects and stretch the same amount with the same algorithm settings at each and then compare. Something harmonically complex like a grand piano I felt appropriate. Drums provide wider bandwidth but in my experience tend to leave different artifacts than pitched instruments and slightly less "noticeable", especially if trying pitch shifting.
    Feel better, rest well! Cheers!

    I cannot express enough just how much I appreciate your no nonsense, tell it like it is banter. It seems every youtuber is trying to be, quite literally, more loud and in your face than the next one. I'm a Labour man, share the pain.

    I am a kitchen remodeler that's always been fascinated with audio. I've never really been able to spend much time on it because it's such a confusing subject. I found your video 6 months ago. Since then I've been watching as many of your videos as I can in my spare time. All of that to say the clarity that you've brought to the subject has allowed me to enjoy seeking more information.
    The video where you advised people to pause their membership is the same video that I learned about RUclips memberships. I immediately signed up.
    On the off chance that you see this comment, I just want to say thanks.
    I started a podcast last month that focuses on the other businesses that I do work with. Like local plumbers, masons, electricians, etc. If it wasn't for your videos I never would have started the podcast, and the podcast would not have helped small business owners organically grow their customer base.
    It hasn't moved mountains, but several of them have gotten projects because their audience trusts them from hearing them talk on the podcast.
    I just mean this comment as an encouragement that your work has helped me and the lives of others.
    Cheers.
