There are MANY Gotek videos and a large community. Thanks for adding one of the better videos and especially for not polluting it with music and for your excellent narration!
Great Video. It has some very helpful info for my project. Did you have any issues with keying ( blocked pin connections ) on your ribbon cable when connecting the Gotek in the PC? MY ribbon cable has blocked teh position for pin #3, but my Gotek has all of the pins. Thanks again for your great video.
We're are trying to use a Miditemp with a Gotek USB Floppy Disk Emulator. Now we have two problems: 1) We can't connect the Gotek in the proper way. We tried all possible solutions and variations with jumpers, flatcable or config files. Miditemp doesn't recognize the Gotek. 2) Even if the Gotek displays the correct number of images of floppy disks on the 4GB USB stick, Miditemp doesn't see the midi files in those images. Not sure what software (Windows 10) to us for making images and putting files in those images. Can anyone help us with (step by step) instructions, software, links or whatever? Thanks.
Hello and thanks very much for your video, it's crystal clear now for me! :) I was just wondering, will it work to boot on it and install Windows 95 in an old Compaq PC?
Nice video. 👍 I really enjoyed it. I just purchase the same Gotek to replace my old floppy drive. The Gotek is working fine as drive A: but I could'nt get it to work as drive B: How you manage so the Gotek goes to Drive B:? Is there a jumper setting need to be set? By the way I am on Windows 10 and have both of them connected to motherboard using a standard floppy cable for two drives. Hoping to have your advice, thanks in advance. 🙏
I had similar issues and it was down to the jumper settings on the Gotek. Unfortunately we've just moved back to the UK and all our stuff (including this PC) is currently on a boat, so I can't check what settings I used
i have an old energy meter, hioki 3166, saves on diskette, i like to replace the external drive than use a 26 pin conector, to put a similar emulator, do you guess than works?don't need any driver?only plug and play?
Great video thank you. I'm restoring a 386sx based PC that has Windows 3.1 installed on a 20MB HDD. Can I use this Gotek floppy drive emulator with this PC and OS?
Ah damn you're right! So the jumpers dictate the settings on the drive, you may need to change some of yours depending on the type of machine you're connecting to. There's a full breakdown on the Flash Floppy Git Hub page. I had to change a couple of settings to get this to work with a B: drive as well

Thanks!
They are awesome to have and eventually will be necessary. I own 11 pentium pros. 9 single, 2 duals. 5 goteks. Great computer to have!
A well presented demonstration, I found it convincing and may very well buy a Gotek Emulator.
CHEERS!
Glad this was helpful! It really has proved a godsend and a fair few of my machines now have gotek drives installed

No I didn’t have that issue, but then I have drawers full of floppy ribbon cables!

Yes it should work. Just download a Windows 95 boot disk image, or the floppy version of Windows 95. Both available at WinWorld
@@TechMadeEasyUK Allright thank you very much for your answer! i'll try! :)
What is maximum capacity (limitation) for USB memory stick? I heard, the capacity should not be more than 4 GB. Is it true? thanks
I used an 8gb stick with no issue in this video

@@TechMadeEasyUK Understood. At least I know that you got also the same issue and there is for sure a valid solution to the case. ✌
I’ve heard reversing the floppy cable on the gotek and a jumper setting will slow drive b:
I am curious how the Gotek handles images from different floppy formats.
2.88MB, 1.44MB, 720MB, 1.2MB, 360kB
I've used mine for 1.44mb and 720kb images with no issue at all. It depends on the device you're plugging the Gotek into
@@TechMadeEasyUK guess I have to get one and try.

It sounds plausible. Its what the product was designed for after all

In theory yes
Yes you can
How do you get that yellow halo around your mouse cursor?
I'm using Bandicam to record the screen capture, it's a feature of that software
Do you get a 5.25" floppy emulator as well?
Not that I've seen, but I wonder if you could just write 360KB, etc images to this?
i have one of these in my Packard bell ill never go back to floppy again
They’re so awesome. I tend to fit them in all my retro PCs now
you forgot to talk about the jumpers
