Love the wagon almost as much as the movie, never seen one with a vinyl roof. And that they are parked in front of a fire hydrant in NYC! LOL!
All the scenic photography and driving shots along the NorthEast Corridor is also nice; and well done. I mean Brian Forbes did a solid job with this movie. Performances are good too. And there's a strong feminist perspective behind everything also...
This is a nice, bittersweet theme song. Although maybe not for a horror movie-- maybe for like "Dawn Portrait of a Teenage Runaway" or something. Or "The Boy in the Plastic Bubble" or something. But it is pretty to listen to; pretty and poignant...
“Daddy, I just saw a man carrying a naked lady.”
“Well, that’s why we’re moving to Stepford.”
The film literally tells us from the get go what it’s about.
Also as the first thing you see are predators in a garden on the wallpaper and then you see her
I like that Ford Country Squire! Probably has a 460! The little kerchief the lady is wearing is designed to ward off the double digit inflation that was plaguing everything then.
Sad.
Katherine Ross she looks like Sienna Miller
They cut the opening Columbia Pictures logo.
What do you make of the pattern of the wallpaper or why the film opens with the lens looking at the wallpaper......... ..
Even though its been 2 years since you made the comment, Ild love to hear your thoughts. Ive watched this movie at least a hundred times, yet your question really struck me. I watched the opening again and hit pause. Firstly, a female lion appeared, then a leopard.(female?) Think I saw a turtle as well, cant be sure. Perhaps the symbolism here might be that a leopard loses it spots?
@@christopher8809 Hi, That is so interesting you've watched this movie so many times. I love that! I find this movie fascinating in many ways. What do you like about it.......... what do you find so compelling about it. I've watched this opening scene a few more times. Yeah, I saw two large cats and then I think a third one. That's an interesting symbolic take on the leopard and the spots. I find this opening scene really intriguing..... the wallpaper, the way she looks in the mirror, the angles in the apartment, how the shot is in the hallway and you can barely see the room she is actually in. I'd love to be in a class where this film is analyzed.
Maybe it’s a reference to The Yellow Wallpaper by Charlotte Perkins Gilman?
Great cinematography. That's what.
The wallpaper shows predators in a garden and then you see her in the mirror, it foretells the story
