  • I couldn't find any video on how to remove this starter so I decided to make one...You don't have to be an expert to do it but you just need a little know how and the RIGHT Tools! I would say it can take from 45mins to 1 hours to remove at a slow pace. If you plan & prepare even quicker. I removed it from the bottom of the vehicle & didn't remove any exhaust or oil filters. The starter has 10 TEETH for the LX model!! Very important because there is an 8 TEETH starter that won't work! I had to return the first one which had 8 teeth. Obviously there is a bottom water protection panel that has to be removed (several screws all over). I made a few mistakes explaining but clarify whenever I did. It looks more difficult than it is. I was actually going to pay someone to do it but the guy wanted to charge $250! Are YOU kidding?? Sorry for not trying to start it in the beginning but the car didn't make any noise & only the lights in the dash worked and the battery had a good charge (always check that first including your fuse/relays). Yip! The Kia started easy after that. Almost forgot to mention...this starter cost was almost $180 online & at auto parts stores. I actually took it to an Indian spot where they rebuild starters/Alternators and they had it new and rebuilt!! Rebuilt was less than $100 and new it was $130. Hope this helps someone! God bless!

    Seen aq few Kia Sorento starter vids and none ever mention which engine is in it. I have an '06 Sorento with the 35.L Mitsubishi engine and the starter is on the passenger side and takes maybe 15 minutes to pull and replace.

      I know it's frustrating but keep in mind that some people who make video's are not professionals and are trying their best to help others out. I would think that by giving the year/Make/model should be enough for the person watching to google the engine. Hope the video helped you in any case. Blessings!

    You think I could use a 20 inch breaker bar instead of the extensions?

    • @danblas1071
      @danblas1071  Год назад +1

      The socket might be to thick...you could try but it might be tight to squeeze it in that area.

      @@danblas1071 yeah I was a little to thick didn't fit so I did end up getting a 20 inch extension worked like a charm! But unfortunately as soon as a put everything back together and connected the battery, the start went crazy and smelled like it was burning and doesn't turn on the car anymore. Any suggestions why that would be?

    • @danblas1071
      @danblas1071  Год назад +1

      @@Kpena92 You have to make sure you connected the power & ground correctly...they have videos on starters & there connections on youtube. That is all I can think of...follow the battery cable down to the starter...that one is your power cable...the other one where the starter sits is your negative. They could be touching somewhere? Hope that helps!

      @@danblas1071 is the negative cable, the one that attaches from the oxygen sensor cable and bolts on with the protector plate the goes over the starter?

    • @danblas1071
      @danblas1071  Год назад

      @@Kpena92 I don't think so? There should have been only 2 cables attached when you took of the starter? One is the positive that goes up to the batter and the other is the negative that should be hanging right there in the area. You shouldn't be able to miss it because there are only two? I would just look up a video in youtube about connecting a starter. Hope that helps! Thanks for the questions...God bless!
