I asked original Alice Cooper bassist Dennis Dunaway if he knew what the inspiration was for this song. He said he thinks guitartist/pianist Michael Bruce was inspired by the Beatles' "Rocky Raccoon". When I first heard the song myself as a bass-playing teen, the jazz walking bass line really caught my ear. I showed it to my bass teacher at the time, and he worked on it with me. I'd probably so far as to say that the bass in that song, not any actual jazz classics by "actual" jazz musicians, is what got me interested in joining the high school jazz ensemble and playing jazz.
