Hey thanks, what an awesome surf-travel film. Keep investing in excellent filmmaking and story telling. Can't stop thinking about that bloke Bob travelling and surfing on his own. Such commitment. What a legend....
Definitely a classic surfing vid. You know the crowds are bad a Noosa when you have to fly to the opposite side of the planet to get wave to yourself ... LOL 🤟 " I know it's a silly exercise to test the human spirit with struggle, but I believe it is in these moments that we get to explore the very essence of who we are ! " Confucius could not have crafted a better saying than that.
Glad to see you dedicated the movie to Bob. He used to come down here to NZ and stay at our little farm on the East Coast of the South Island. Stayed up late around the fire listening to his Alaskan stories many a time. He also spent a lot of time in Africa and South America. He liked to send postcards and I have a box full. A truly unique character. Vale Bob. Johnny Z.
Incredible movie. Right up there with Second Thoughts and RC Search 2. Thank you for showing us that it’s still possible to make a movie showing the true spirit of surfing which is almost a lost art nowadays.
Great movie! impressive you were catching waves with such strong offshore winds... I've only surfed a few times with winds like that... you have to be like an olympic swimmer to paddle in...
Echoboom...nice one, thanks for the insight. Hey Harrison, Hump introduced us at Deus Indo some years ago. Nice to see you popping up gliding around the joint. This takes full on commitment though, so next level. I couldn't imagine going through all those challenges and then some that you haven't shown in this movie. Is the reward for the effort worth it is my only question? I couldn't believe you went out on that 60 knots windblown day and actually got one. I just wouldn't be able to convince myself to challenge myself in those conditions. All the other waves were pretty epic BUT the unseen and unfelt cold through my devices small screen just made me cringe and my thoughts were like; naa, naaaa no thanks. You deserve that, you put in the hard work it takes to put this adventure together! I do not wish to surf those places, I guess they're reserved for those folks that have the requisite desire to make it happen, it won't be many I'm sure of that. Thanks for sharing the journey, the waves, the insights, the challenges, the vision..
I was wondering when I would see someone surfing these spots. I surfed those first two spots many many moons ago. Did they hassle you about driving onto the native land where they have their gun range (Amaknak gun club)? I’m really surprised you didn’t get a shot of the shipwrecked Fish processing ship, but maybe you were trying to keep things secretive. Ha ha ha I wouldn’t worry about that. Place is never going to be crowded. You didn’t need a boat to get to the first spot. You can actually drive over the top of the pass by pyramid lake (overland rd) and come down into Summers Lake and then walk out to the point from there, either that or drive from the Harbor up past the dump (Summers bay rd.) to Summers lake and do the same. There’s actually old military trails that you can get almost to that point but you have to swim across that river. That’s funny you got the boar tide while you’re waiting as well. I did that back in 99 when no one had done it and I didn’t even have a wetsuit. Great to see people finally getting to those spots out in Unalaska. That right hander passed Summers Bay was so incredible. I used to go out there every day after work and feed the wild horses and surf by myself. The one right hander just passed the airport down by the shooting range is a super fun right but it’s way more fickle but when it was on it was sweet because it was right near my work camp (west construction, next to the grad allutiean) Never even got anyone to go down there and take pictures, of course this was back in the days before Internet, cell phones, or even digital cameras. Ha ha ha. Stoked for you boys, really brought back some sweet memories Of Incredible surfing experiences I was blessed with. 🤙🏾
Dang I just realized that was over a quarter century ago and I’m a rambling old man watching kids do what I once did. I have this overwhelming feeling of expedition nostalgia right now. Thanks so much for posting this. ❤🤙🏾 If I get a few comments of people wanting to see my old VHS videos of the boar tide and pioneering other surf spots I’ll try to get them converted and put on my channel. Until then, tight lines and hollow barrels.
Good flick, but I starting wishing the deadpan narration would go into ridiculous territory. 'By day three, Parker had fallen in love with a rock he called sandy, whilst I began to obsessively draw pictures of beavers'

Brilliant, awe inspiring. The kind of surf trip I've never done but feels somehow more appealing than the warm water cliche. ThankYou

WINTER IS LIFE

wow that slab looks fukn insane
Super cool trip, but that's an awful long way to go and crap to put up with to get those kind of waves that look like witches Rock Costa Rica dudes.
Promo'SM 🤭
You can tell it’s lacking actual surf footage when filled in with random monotony. Pretty darn dull
simp
Did you watch the film? They absolutely scored..
That was bloody awesome
