That would be his soundhole. It's just like a traditional acoustic but his soundhole is in a different place, the make of the guitar decided to put it up there instead of the normal center placed soundhole. Probably has something to do with the way the guitar is braced on the underside of the guitars face. It most like has an x bracing on the underside which arches the face a bit more and you get a different tone out of the guitar.
