every boss, enemy, weapon, and armor set have a Pokémon typing. you'll do 25% damage to 4 times as much damage and why are there so many different types. I thought it was just leaf fire and blue

steel isn't weak to water, water just resists steel
so in other words steel is weak when attacking water, but not weak when water attacks it?
so steel is overall weaker when fighting water either way?
@@axolotl482 Yes, but steel doesn't take double damage to water. Pokemon type effectiveness is separated into two categories. When attacking and when being attacked to put in simply. Some types *take more damage* from certain types and *deal less damage against certain types*

Fluffy is an ability that halves damage taken from contact moves but doubles damage taken from fire moves
Skeletron was attacking with bone, not ghost
the bone attack typing is probably a balancing thing, as just taking off your armor or wearing a mismatch to become invulnerable against skeletron wouldn't be good game design.

I see your point, but this is what makes the most sense from a design and balance point of view. You can't really throw all of Crimson into, say, Poison. The theming is just too different.
I do believe maybe Skeletons could be added to Ghost, or maybe Dark, though I've never played with this mod. We'd have to give it a shot to make an educated critique of its effects in the overall feel of the combat

To be fair the concept of fire mon deal more fire damage is pretty simple compared to memorizing the entire type chart.

Try the "signature equipment" mod, i got such high dmg that i started literally dealing 1 dmg but like 70 times per second, before that i dealt negative dmg
I think Skeletron is dealing bone-type damage, and Dark is weak to Bone? Bone seems to resist Dark (turning a 2x weakness to 1x) and be weak against Steel (turning 1x to a 2x weakness)

Dark is supposed to resist ghost. The reason for why Skeletron deals so much damage is either a mistake in the code or it has something to do with the bone-type.

I feel like the evil biomes should just be dark type. In the original Japanese the dark type actually more closely translated to the evil type, so it would only make sense for the evil biomes to be the evil type

you know, that you mention the meme of pokemon open-wide world. it got me to think, the only thing they didn't change is the pokemon battles, 4 or so move hit the enemie with specific pokemon/move and win, what if they use the mechanics of the pokemon tournament, sinse theres literally everything in the latest yet disappointed trash we call, you explore the "magnificent" which you can explore and solve some side-puzzles with a little of everything, but the second you enter into a fight. *STAND STILL WHILE PICKING SOME PNG MOVES WITH NO ANIMATION WATCH-O-EVER* it still p!ss me of to this day

bone isn't a pokemon type, they added a unique type probably to counter shadowscale armour for the fight

Maybe Bone is strong against Dark, because Dark sure is strong against Ghost.
And yeah, there's a bunch of asymmetrical types, like Steel taking normal damage from Water but Water taking half damage from Steel.
Btw Steel is OP defensively so any armor that gives you Steel typing might as well have double the armour value. No joke, out of all 18 types it's immune to 1 and resists 10.
I know you're never gonna return to that mod so I'm just flexing my pokemon knowledge that sure is useful for anything else at all.
