This should be a Lego set! I don’t understand why Lego didn’t accept this. It’s an incredible set, in fact, it’s way better than most sets from Lego Ideas such as the Flinstones and Steamboat Willie set
Wow! Thank you. I loved the original fan design for the Flintstones I just felt the official set wasn't as good. I am planning on trying to upgrade it to make it closer to the original.
Dude, I’m so sorry. You clearly did an amazing job. You also asked a great question, “what is different about this property when compared to Friends or Big Bang Theory?” I honestly believe it is because of Lego’s fear to have a same sex couple portrayed. They have never done something like that and it is the only real thing I could think of. Which is a shame because the movie is amazing and your set is amazing. I hope something changes because this set deserves a fair shake. Great work.
@@CutTheKragle I think the implication that the characters -- all of the characters -- had sex had something to do with the rejection -- a perceived inclusion of sexual content without regard to the gender of its participants. @@TheOctoPirateCustoms There's no implication that "all of the characters had sex". For one, Ramona even says she dated Matthew Patel in the seventh grade and only kissed once. Wow thats amazing!! I love the detail and thought put into the bunker! I definitely would have supported this one! Its not fair that Lego lets stuff like Big Bang Theory get past and not Scott Pilgrim.

Damn that sucks! I was planning on making a Scott Pillgrim lego Ideas submission myself. And at the moment I’m working on a Lego Arrested Development project and I’m now wondering if Lego will accept that.
This is the exact same thing that happened to me, my spitfire was rejected, even though it does not fit into any of the categories, it is not a modern day war vehicle, it does not include violence or blood or anything, and it should be classed as the same as the sopwith camel or redbarron sets or even the new fighter planes set that wasn’t approved but wasn’t rejected either. It’s pretty annoying spending days/weeks/months working on something only for it to be rejected for unfair reasons
This has bugged me for a while. I've had a few projects get rejected for those same reasons. it seems like a double standard... sweet project though man! you should put the picks up on flickr if they aren't already.
I'm furious, there is hardly any Scott pilgrim vs the world memorabilia available and this would have been the perfect fit for me (seeing as I'm a fellow lego enthusiast) but lego instead chooses to release that generic pirate's cove set. Just an idea btw if you want extra minifigs, (seeing as lego apparently doesn't like the idea of having the evil exes, consider making Nega-Scott or maybe retro versions of Scott and Romana (like the video game)
Thanks! I was thinking about making minifigures of both Knives and Nega Scott as an alternative when the project reached a supporter milestone. Sadly, never gonna happen now...
Really no one dies in Scott Pilgrim, according to author Brian Lee O’Malley the exes don’t die they respawn in their houses and realize that being evil is bad.
This is awesome!! Like this is definitely something that will end up being made as a set with some fight, unsure why it wouldnt be accepted??? @@CutTheKragle This is so gonna sound like I'm a huge dork... but thanks for replying, it means a lot... That’s amazing dude I’m so sorry, I’d so buy that, I tried making a modular for LEGO ideas based on the video game white night but after flagging it I just gave up and decided to buy the pieces and make it myself so I get you. How you make that sticker it’s super nice Edit:oof finished the video sorry
Dang that sucks, I would have loved that set, I can tell you put a lot of work into this. Having the apartment part of the pyramid is genius! Honestly I'm not surprised Lego rejected it, you have to admit the movie does get a bit heated at moments (back the the future and the others you listed have those kind of scenes too but I think they are a bit more general) For a kids toy it might be odd to have a whole line of "ex's" (I don't think they would make a set with 7+ figures anyways, asking for a new IP is enough really). Your video also included 3rd party printing and advertising and could have looked bad for Lego if it got approved. In the ones that have been made into sets the minifigures are very generic using existing pieces and prints. If you were to resubmit, which I don't think are against the rules (the Iron Giant was resubmitted) I would drop your RUclips channel connection and the custom printing as that could be seen as advertising. Then maybe for the minifigure selection MAYBE just Scott, Ramona, and negascott (get rid of the idea of ex's) I think it would have gotten the 10k easily.
Thanks for the feedback. I don't think the link to my channel or printing effected their decision. BrickbrosUK had their Tron Legacy project approved and even made and there was also a Red Dwarf project that reached 10,000 supporters that also worked with minifigs.me and rightly gave a shout to them. The idea of exes being a deal-breaker seems a bit odd considering how heavily both Big Bang Theory and Friends revolve around relationships, etc. I take your comments on board though and Nega Scott was an idea I was thinking of including in a future update. I think it could have looked pretty cool. Thanks for commenting :-)
Do you really not see the difference between Scott Pilgrim and The Big Bang Theory, the Simpsons and Friends? I would have loved a Scott Pilgrim set, but you can't say those properties are the same.
@@CutTheKragle I like Scott Pilgrim and I would have loved to have a SP set. So please don't take what I said as an attack against you or your idea. It wasn't. But Scott Pilgrim is not like the properties you mentioned. The biggest difference is The Big Bang Theory, Friends, and the Simpsons are all Sitcom TV shows. Fun, quirky, 30 minute segments. Scott Pilgrim is not. The second biggest different is to look at what sets were chosen in those themes. TBBT saw the apartment. Friends will see the Coffee shop, and the Simpsons is their home. All iconic locations, and centerpieces to the shows. What centerpiece does Scott Pilgrim have? Nothing really. That's not to say your idea was bad, it wasn't. I liked it. But when I think of Scott Pilgrim, I don't think of the Pyramid. Lastly, their is one really big difference. LEGO does not want violent themes. This is why you won't ever see military themes. (Yes, star wars is the well known exception.) TBBT and Friends are very clearly not violent. The Simpsons has moments, but its animated and definitely not the point of the show. The point of Scott Pilgrim is for him to defeat the evil exes in combat. When people think of Scott Pilgrim, that's the first thing that comes to mind. I know its not a super violent movie or comic, and calling it so is a little much. The premise is still about basically killing the exes. You created a set that was 100% based off of the fighting. Do you see what I mean now? In no way are those three shows comparable to Scott Pilgrim. It doesn't mean you made a bad set, but I'm not surprised it didn't get approved either. However much people like to think otherwise, LEGO is marketed towards kids, and you have to think about how would LEGO market SP to them? "You can kill your seven evil exes with the new LEGO Ideas set!" That's not gonna fly with LEGO.
@@onthebrain835 I really don't get your first two points. Why should a TV show be more acceptable than a movie? To be clear, LEGO said the property of Scott Pilgrim was inappropriate so the lack of centrepiece isn't at all relevant. And the violence in Scott Pilgrim is hyper stylised to be like that of a retro video game. It's bloodless and goreless and the word kill does not feature. He has to "defeat" the seven evil exes. Defeat like video game bosses. I would also argue that Scott Pilgrim is a lot less violent than Overwatch, which LEGO have released sets of. Friends in particular is a hard one to accept considering it has numerous questionable jokes, including homophobic and transphobic remarks. And both that and The Big Bang Theory have plenty of sex references as well. It is baffling to me that those properties are apparently appropriate but Scott Pilgrim isn't.
I would have loved to see this hit the shelves. If I needed to make a guess why it was not approved I would say: Licence issues. As they probally needed permission from Universal, Edgar Wright and Bryan Lee O'Malley. And it would be to much trouble to get them or already got a clear case regarding no permission of one of these parties. Or the reason is Violance. As this set is shown using weapons (swords) or the theme of fighting over a girl like a prize. I know it is stupid but those are my best guesses
Thats bloody bollocks that It wasn't approved. Like you said, if the made sets on Friends, Big bang and Simpsons, then they should be no problem making this a set. now, I know in the film there's a slight make-out scene, but for god sake its not like they full out has sex.
Scott pilgrim vs the world is one of my favorite movies, I don’t see why there shouldn’t be a lego set, many LEGO themes have a lot of violence, and how it is possible that LEGO is so dumb to not allow this, I am extremely disappointed, and angry. You did a great job, and you are amazing. I’m sorry this didn’t get accepted.
what the HELL! Lego couldn’t make this a set I would’ve paid top dollar for this set The minifigures look alright There’s plenty of features I love and it’s reasonably sized
Well that fucking blows, I’d love to see this set actually marketed by LEGO. I’m assuming it was unapproved because of the frequent swearing and fight scenes in the movie, but I don’t know for sure.
Professor Profestro yea the only ideas set I actually like is the voltron I would kill to have this instead of something like the steamboat Willy or the pop up book
you sound genuinely upset in the video I’m disappointed too there’s so much attention to detail in this set, and the minifigures are really accurate I still don’t get why they didn’t approve this, but they made a STRANGER THINGS SET
The absence of Knives is quite glaring. As for the rejection, it's just Lego taking their usual bizarre standards one step further. When's the last time they approved something you actually wanted. I'm still salty about Wall-E.
Yeah, in hindsight I probably should have included her. I was thinking of making both Knives and Nega Scott minifigures as alternatives to the evil league as an update when the project reached a certain milestone but sadly, that's not going to happen now.
Well I've resubmitted it after being encouraged to do so by some friends who work for LEGO who thought the same as you and it's been rejected again. Check out my latest video for the details.
to be honest i believe the reason why lego denied your idea is they might get in a copyright battle with the owners of scott pilgrim, i remember that lego to approve the big bang theory lego set it took time and negotiation to do so, so i believe the people who own the licence for scott pilgrim wouldnt want a lego set or they dont want to let lego have the rights to create a set, i understand it is a shame, but think of this in a legal action.
Tron Legacy has some violent scenes and that got a set! Don’t see why your project shouldn’t be made!
I know right! This is such a friendly film, I don't see why Lego would do this!
Because lego thinks it won't bring in money🙄😑, cause Scott Pilgrim ist 10 years old
Scott pilgrim is super cartoony as well

I love that move
Do you really not see the difference between Scott Pilgrim and The Big Bang Theory, the Simpsons and Friends? I would have loved a Scott Pilgrim set, but you can't say those properties are the same.
Explain the difference to me then.
This was amazing! So much detail and work. It’s a shame that they didn’t even let you pitch.
Thank you :)
CutTheKragle no problem. Thank you for the heart, and for sharing this with us. I would’ve definitely bought it if it became a real LEGO set.
I loved that movie 💖
Thank you! It was very disappointing but I've gotten past it now. Still baffles me when I see some of the stuff LEGO do deem appropriate though!
i know its not the same but maybe you could sell the plans yourself or via web site looks good !!!
what the HELL! Lego couldn’t make this a set I would’ve paid top dollar for this set
The minifigures look alright
There’s plenty of features I love
and it’s reasonably sized
Maybe the black widow hairpiece fits her Blue died hair
Love that movie
Dang, definitely would have voted for this. Still great work though.
If you could sell these online I would definitely buy them
Well that fucking blows, I’d love to see this set actually marketed by LEGO. I’m assuming it was unapproved because of the frequent swearing and fight scenes in the movie, but I don’t know for sure.
Wait... the simpsons literally have a running joke about homer being an alcoholic but they let that go? They even made Duff beer cans...
I would much rather this than **names ANY ideas set**
Professor Profestro yea the only ideas set I actually like is the voltron I would kill to have this instead of something like the steamboat Willy or the pop up book
Come on Lego For the Band
For the band. For the band!
We need a ready player one set
im so sorry for you if it passed i would have bought it lego needs better moderation
The cave woman hairpiece would be a good choice for Ramona
Where’s knives chau? She’s really important to this scene.
I had planned on creating minifigs of both Knives and Nega Scott as an alternative when the project reached a particular milestone.
CutTheKragle ah ok, I hope you can get this project through, good luck!
you sound genuinely upset in the video
I’m disappointed too
there’s so much attention to detail in this set, and the minifigures are really accurate
I still don’t get why they didn’t approve this, but they made a STRANGER THINGS SET
Damn u lego I wanted a set like this for a long time
Is there a Way to get back to LEGO and explain it? Maybe they did a very fast check on the Property or something?...
Well I've resubmitted it after being encouraged to do so by some friends who work for LEGO who thought the same as you and it's been rejected again. Check out my latest video for the details.
The designs are great! I hate the lego ideas thing
I want to make a Scott pilgrim animated film
That’s so stupid! I would’ve loved to get a Scott Pilgrim set. I am a huge fan of the books and movie!
Damn and I would of Bought this right away
Lego made stranger things that’s not age approved but it’s a Lego set
to be honest i believe the reason why lego denied your idea is they might get in a copyright battle with the owners of scott pilgrim, i remember that lego to approve the big bang theory lego set it took time and negotiation to do so, so i believe the people who own the licence for scott pilgrim wouldnt want a lego set or they dont want to let lego have the rights to create a set, i understand it is a shame, but think of this in a legal action.
They made a 007 set, but this is too much apparently
I would have actually bought this😢
cool video!
Thanks!
I'd buy it
Could you potentially release the instructions for how to make one on your own?
bro can you send the instructions cause im trying to build it myself
Yes
I want this
