Using a hammer and anvil to recreate broken pieces is what Blacksmith is all about. I love it!
Thanks for this excellent video. I have a post vise that is missing all these parts. Your simple and detailed explanation is just what I needed. to bring it back to life.
Glad it helps!
I have that same vise and had to make the same parts.Great videos Roy
Hey Roy, looks like I beat the crowds! Was going to ask about the leaf spring but you answered that! Reverse the keeper and wedge, I think they are wrong way around! Thanks mate!
Great job Roy
good morning Roy. congrats on the new tool/toy. hopeful you get great use out of it my friend. very nice repair there Roy. keep up the great craftsmanship and hard work Roy. Forge on. keep making. god bless.
Great project, thanks for walking us through it
Nice addition to the warm area and great video. Thank you.
Glad you liked it!
Roy Roy Roy!
Man I can't believe you used 1018 mild steel in stead of Wedge steel...and really a used spring?
😂 😂 Giggling too much to type!
Brother thanks for the video. It's a great tutorial in its own right! 👍🏼
God bless y'all now
Crawford out 🙏🔥⚒️🧙🏼♂️
Thanks and God bless you too!
Hello Roy good video but it were interesting to see the mounting of the vise on the table and see exactly were the parts you made go in! Thanks for the video! Greetings from Bavaria Germany
Noted!
Super helpful video, thanks!
Nice repair.
I need to make a mounting bracket for mine. I improvised one years ago, but it's time to revisit it. Like you said the price was right. I paid 10$ for mine, and have already gotten 15 years of use out of it......
Right on
Yeah our staff machinist at work gave me a very nice post drill...for free...minus a handle and the pawl system for automatically adjusting the depth feed...so I need to find another example of this drill so I can forge the pawl...the handle is a no-brainer.
Would like for a follow up to this video, I have a leg vice that’s needing the same set up... just waiting for a shop to put it in....
👍
Im trying to find a video on making the whole mounting bracket as close to original as possible without a power hammer or friend to swing a sledge hammer im also trying not to use a welder as im not that confident in my wedding to stay together I've seen many springs replaced would love to see the process to manage this as milling is out of my reach as well i have a small 7ton log splitter press on set of dies
Lose the machine bolt to keep it traditional.
Say you get a vice but its missing the spring and the entire mounting bracket how would you go about re making the bracket section of the vice any help would be greatly appreciated yhe rest of the Vice works fine
Not being negative here but as a subscriber who has a fledgling channel, how do you lose audio? Did that happen from the video editing software? I use a single camera (DSLR) for recording my videos and it captures audio and video and I've never missed a beat. Wondering if you, having a vastly more developed channel, record audio and video separately? Thanks for your time and excellent content! Hope you & your family had a blessed Thanksgiving!
Great question ☺️ My audio is being run through the camera but is recorded by the wireless lav mic which batteries died in the middle of My filming... LoL give it time And you'll probably lose audio too 😉 it's just a matter of time...
Hope you and your family had a wonderful Thanksgiving as well brother
God bless you and yours..
@@ChristCenteredIronworks ah that makes sense! Thank you for taking the time to explain! Thanksgiving was great!
Year or the leg vise !?
Never know :)
I have one of those vise what they worth now
